  1. Super nice one, Thanks for sharing 🙂
  2. The current version has the 1/8 plug standard with the 1/4 inch adaptor screwed on over the top from the factory. I have not checked my older one yet.
  3. I filed a gold claim in Gold Basin a few years back now. First went to the county and filed (they missed that someone had filed 2 weeks prior) then drove the 90 miles to the blm office and filed with them, then drove back and put up claim posts in the 4 corners and a location post none of which were existing.. It cost $1360 or so for the BLM claim. One day later I received a call from the person who had filed 2 weeks prior with the County demanding why I had filed over them (checked again with the county and they said oops sorry). I had to apologize, pull up my claim posts, they had not put any, then eat the cost with BLM. It was supposed to end up as a club claim with the club reimbursing me. That never happened. The person who had filed originally offered to sell me one of his claims in the area since he had 17 claims in the area selling on e-bay, he was in that business. I have a good feeling who you're talking about Gerry. So the answer to your question for me is a big NO!
  4. Hey Norm sorry to hear the news, will keep you in my prayers buddy. Take care Patrick S.
  5. Was up on a seldom used gpaa claim in the El Paso mountains and managed to drop my scoop while looking at an abandoned drywasher that had fallen over the side of a deep canyon. Went back 2 years later and there was the drywasher still, and my scoop. Some of these claims are not that hard hit after all or the drywasher and my scoop would have been gone. For as many scoops as I lose and wear out digging they should sell them as a 5 pack 😉
  6. Found on one if the groups I belong to. Now the question is Real?
  7. Last Friday we were lucky enough to have a break in the typical Southern Calif Desert heat wave and those lower temps gave me and a friend a chance to hit a new area for us to check for nuggets. After spending the day we managed to score 6 little nuggets between us, the top 2 were mine and the bottom 4 were his. As you can see, this first picture was taken before anything was done to clean them up. My usual routine is once I get them home I give them a quick wash with some hot water and dish soap, then let them dry, then into a CLR (calcuim lime rust) remover bath for the next 24 hours. Once the bath is done its a rinse in some hot water and into a sonic jewelry cleaner for 5 minuets and I am done with them at that point. 2nd picture is them finished and the last 2 pictures are from a USB microscope. Would like to see how everyone else is cleaning up their finds.
  8. Have detected many times in Southern calif, nevada, and arizonia with outside temps @ 115f or 46c. Detector has worked fine but I have to take a lot of cooling breaks and drink gallons of water. At those temps I have more detectors in my vehicle which is locked with the windows cracked and just guessing temps do reach 135+f and have not seen any ill effects on them as well.
  9. I had Shot this video a month or so ago and finally got around to uploading it. I had been raining on and off for a few weeks and so the digging was easy 🙂
  10. The first time I met Fred was out in the Dale Mining District several years back where he had somehow forgotten his GPX power cord and asked if he could borrow a spare I happened to have. Every time we met up at different club events, he would welcome anyone into his camp and treat you as if you were a long-lost family member. All who attended the outings would ask if Fred was coming just to dig into some of his Chile Verde and if you were lucky enough to spend the night, he always had two huge frying pans of potatoes, eggs, and sausage going in the mornings. I asked Fred one time as I was heading into town if he needed anything I could bring back and all he wanted was some plain Vanilla Ice Cream. A great guy with a big heart who loved his family and will be truly missed. My condolences to his wife and family. Patrick S.
  11. Im am going to wait on the 19 inch probe which I have heard will go 33% deeper and they will give you a discount on that if you pay full price on this one 🙂

  17. I decided that since it's been a while from my last visit to one of my favorite gold hunting locations It was time to charge up the batteries, brave the heat and find some gold. Only managed to dig up these 3 little ones but still it was a good day ?
  18. Very Nice Norm! That one had your name on it.
  19. In the National Forests you can detect in most but not all areas, and the rangers are up on the Antiquities Act so leave all the trash you find in place. A square nail in your pocket can get you a large fine.
  20. May want to check and see if there is a build up of dirt, black sand under the skid plate. That can affect the 2300 on small gold.
  21. The way I toss and turn all night the next morning my Dash would be ruined. with the bed swinging from the hand holders
  22. Hi Kiwijw, I am the other like in that post since I don't have a QED. And I do swing a GPZ and use the ga10 and would never call any person names for using a different setup then I do.
