I would suggest you give an SP01 a try. I honestly think you will be pleased. -

I swear by the Steelphase. It has helped my detecting immeasurably. -

Have never used audio smoothing as long as I've had the GPZ. Are there conditions where I should? (apologies for slightly off-topic). -

Another very clear and tantalizing post Jason. Thanks for putting in the effort. Enjoy the rest of your time out there. -
GPX 6000 - How Do Others Compete?
flakmagnet replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Interesting out of focus somethingorother in the b.g. too... -
Years ago (staring in 2005 I think), we built coil cable stabilizers for the 3500-5000's. They attached to the upper rod and to the coil cable right up next to where it screwed into the box. They worked incredibly well for stopping the wobble at the attachment point that so many of those machines seemed to have. We even wondered at the time why ML couldn't incorporate one as a part of their detectors, but no answer. I tried to find the old forum articles but no luck, too far back for the forums storage capabilities.

GPX 6000 - How Do Others Compete?
flakmagnet replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
I do think for serious prospectors, the 6000 will seemingly give them a measure of portability for searching a wider range of new possibilities than lugging that brick of a 7000. People like Jason will be big beneficiaries of that jump in ergonomics with less weight while not losing much in detecting power. -
GPX 6000 - How Do Others Compete?

Putting in a vote for in-the-field comparisons and experience with the machine. Everything else, including advertising, seems to be almost pointless. Can't think of better advertising than the testers being allowed to speak of their findings. -
I'm gagging too… (it's hard to wait)

Thanks for taking the time to inform us. Always appreciated.

Those two are unique and beautifully set out. Nice work! Well done.

I admire your ability. I honestly can only remember twice not being able to find a speck in my scoop. Every other time then there was something small in the scoop, I found it. These were with a 7000. Having 5 ounces of specks is truly admirable.
-
Honestly, if I can't find it in the scoop, I'm going to throw it back to grow. (but I always find it in the scoop )
-
Yeah, I just mis-read grams…I've never heard of anyone asking about grains with a PI….
-
A tenth of a gram, I stand corrected. I have gotten specks that don't register on my scale that goes into tenth's of a gram but that's not what you were asking... good hunting...
-
I do it all the time with the 7000.

New Finds With The Nugget Finder Z Search Searchcoil
flakmagnet replied to Rob Allison's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Hi Matt, it's not that my mind is deadset against doing any modifications, it's that if I screw this particular mod. up I flat-line my detector. If it were not for that possibility, I would have no problems with modifications. i.e. most modifications usually don't have the possibility inherent in the mod of possibly ruining a fair-sized investment. All the best... -
and 4, does it work?
