  1. if I have a chance to "go out" as opposed to a chance to look it up…you know where I'm going on this... And you seem to be a heck of a lot closer than an internet search or whatever…
  2. I have used headphones with my hearing aids and without them. I prefer taking them out and pushing the volume on my headphones…I also use a SteelPhase (SP01), so I have quite a bit of latitude with what I do with the volume. Although it is quite "bad,"I would not however call my hearing loss "profound." I feel for you Norm.
  3. Gerry, did you have a lot of mineralization? Or…? (beautiful finds…the Nox does rock in the right circumstances)
  4. I love the Nox. Gerry that is an all around great choice. I have taken mine out into mineralized ground where I hunt and was driven crazy by amount of signals the minerals produced on the Nox. I tried all sorts of settings - because this fantastic machine has such a range of possibilities - but in this case I honestly could not get the Nox to settle down enough to where it could discern the mineral I was looking for, gold, from all the other signals that abounded. For gold I'll stick with the 7000.
  5. Couldn't you just cut it square? You're quite handy from what I see...
  6. Mike I also think your post is spot on. It doesn't matter what detector you use. It's all about the mind-set, the focus, the interest in learning about methods of detecting, the research… this is what we all have in common that is important and that is why Steve's forum shines.
  7. so, sort of dragging your feet until the new ML announcement? (now where's my ironic smirk emoji) It's funny you kicked off this thread but won't let us know your thoughts…come on we're interested.
  8. I completely agree Steve, the opportunities and possibilities were there - begging them to progress and so were the customers.
  9. …or in the case of mine, they may disappear entirely...
  10. I don't do anything at all. They're fine the way they are.
  11. I want one. Any size change smaller will increase the chances where I work and hopefully there will be a step in sensitivity.
  12. Yes Dale, once again you are showing why you guys are working far beyond the capabilities of most modern day prospectors. It is always uplifting and inspirational to see the results that hard work, great research and smart decisions can bring. You deserve what you find.
  13. Sorry, I don't get this. Metal detectors detect metal. Discrimination that allows only gold through has never been found to be possible. Expecting it, whining about it and dismissing fine detectors that find ridiculous amounts of gold is completely beside the point and really doesn't do much to define what a good gold detector is in someone's opinion.
  14. From what I understand they are waiting til the story of how it was found is ready to be made public. That was a hell of a run.
  15. I have been looking for gold since the late 70's with dredges and now metal detectors. I am not a pro but I have spent plenty of time over a detector coil and for me the GPZ 7000 is the best gold machine I have used. But, it is ridiculously heavy and this is a glaring drawback that makes it a very difficult machine to put in long hours with…and, over the course of months and years, it can seriously damage your shoulder, arm and/or lower back. So, at the same time I sing the 7000's praises, I also want to say that I could not use it to the extent that I do without a HipStick.
  16. I think most of us have run into snakes. In my own experience, they all have been retiring and docile unless for some reason they feel cornered or threatened…just like most living things. I love seeing them and their fascinating ways and always feel honored to have come across one.
  17. Darn, I had the whole desert mostly to myself….oh well welcome back out you guys...
  18. (puts down tin foil hat halfway made), you mean it won't work?
  19. I sort of figured the GPZ build took EMI into account but it's always interesting to hear it verified. Thanks all.
  20. Wait, so the plastic housing on the gpz isn't doing much to hold down EMI… interesting. What kinds of advice did he relate (if you don't mind my asking). I am into anything that will hold back EMI.
