  1. Well said Gerry. We all owe Minelab a debt of gratitude for hours of insane fun in some of the most beautiful natural settings in the world.
  2. I just wrapped mine in small bubble wrap…a couple of wraps. I toss it on the ground even when there are rocks. It's never given a hint of breaking. Try it, you might be surprised. And yes, I use a ring...
  3. Firstly, thank you for clearing up that whacky rumor. With so much ill-considered information and comments being tossed out in media these days, it is nice to have that one put to bed. Not a slam on you Sheppo just to be clear - with so much rumor flying around it's easy make a mistake like that. I took a lesson from your post for myself. People trying to find and take advantage of other peoples discoveries has been rampant as long as people have been looking for gold, but these days, with so much information available to people who are intent on horning in on someone else's hard work, it's no wonder so many helpful, informative, and well-intended prospectors - like Gold Hound, JP and Jasong - no longer share their singular and expert work with us. It's our loss but I don't blame them.
  4. The best gold detecting videos (personal opinion of course), are JP's videos that he produced himself, and that included music, editing, narration and distribution. They were put out on DVD's and anyone who wants to understand a Minelab detector will benefit from almost any of his productions. A ton of his hard work and we benefit. The other videos that absolute captivate me are by the Goldhounds. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCanm0gYhAZNL6-wNKkSXx8Q While there is a ton of detecting knowledge being shared, it is the amazing personalities of that group that makes their YouTube videos so highly entertaining. They had to stop shooting them because I think N. Queensland became overrun with people trying to find out where they worked. Even with their videos being 6 and 7 years old, they are worth a look. Like JP in his realm, these guys know their stuff and are funny as hell.
  5. Yes I heartily agree with Steve. This is why the detecting community thrives…It starts with the dealers. And Jim McC. gave me my first real excursion around the Dale district years ago and God was it fun. Thanks again Jim I still grin when I think about it.
  6. Great writing, good company, good weather, good gold. Well done.
  7. If ML did this, they would make a ton of money…and a bunch of us would jump off the incremental- train. Come on MineLab, do it!
  8. If it is who I think it is, he's a good guy and trustworthy. I like your attitude aerospace gent...
  9. Happy to hear you've got your plans made and are able to go. It'll be fun to hear the reports of your travels as you cut another swath through the NW…best of luck.
  10. I stand corrected. Glad you did it anyway.
  11. Writing of any sort is hard work. Writing historically accurately adds to the difficulty. You obviously put a lot of time and thought into your journal and hooked a bunch of us. thanks...
  12. Way to go Doc, getting anything published these days is difficult at best. Hearty congratulations, I'm sure it's a worthy read.
  13. I am retired from feature film production and also in the midst of having a manuscript published - I heartily second what tboykin said above. The amount of idea-theft everywhere, but especially in the entertainment industry, is incredible and this story has lots of possibilities in it. Get it copyrighted, and have a lawyer do it. It will be worth it to have not just legality but peace of mind.
  14. No, it's not a mistake. Just do what you want to do, it's taken you (and us), this far. Everyone always has their own opinions - so when they get their journals, then, and only then, they can do what they want. You are doing just fine.
  15. I want to make it absolutely clear that this was a joke only. A joke that has no specific reference to anyone on this forum. That's why I labeled it as a joke fwiw. Anyone who has a problem with the comment, PM me and I will remove it.
  16. A tv miner is an interesting term. Is that akin to an internet miner? (Just havin fun…it's a great read).
  17. Very unlikely. This is the kind of thing I would expect of a sleazy used car dealer, not a metal detector dealer. I hate this kind of naked dishonesty, especially with people who are newbies. I have to say Condor, you go up a notch in my book with every post you put up.
  18. Firstly a comment, at least to me, amounts to a super "like." Secondly those two pictures are the best of the bunch so far, really intriguing and interesting. Now, just in case it's not obvious, I'm hitting "like" in your post. 👏
