  1. I think I am gonna head back to xp units. Too much chatter from emi on the eq900.
  2. Anyone doing a deus 2 ws6 master for beach and shallow water hunting by chance??
  3. Don't get me wrong though, I do like the legend. Please do not make a decision until you hear from a few others regarding the use of it on the beach because I never have used either on the beach.
  4. I have the legend and eq900. I think the legend is well built and picks mid conductors out pretty good in clean areas. However I think the eq900 handles bad ground and picks stuff out of iron better and deeper. I like the simplicity the eq900 controls better. The legend is a little more complicated when It comes to setting it up. I like the overall feel of the eq900 better than the legend. I like the expanded tid scale of the equinox better. This is probably not what you were looking for but this is my experience. Good luck.
  5. Well if minelab is sue happy with xp and nokta then why don't fisher step up and sue minelab? If I remember right they were the real first dual freq unit with the cz5.....then whites hit the scene with the v3i and Garrett bought their rights and old stock. I don't get it. It is just a metal detector. However nokta legends frequencies are very similar to the equinox......it should have been a different span of frequencies
  6. I agree totally....I too have experienced the same thing as you have said and one way signals and such being old coins on edge etc. I like his channel as well and yes he does a decent job of showing what HIS experience with them are.....but for someone who has only had a unit for 2 months maybe his advice should be taken with a grain of salt......he knows more about the manticore than I do for sure but he also said the ctx is an out dated unit. Well from my own experience when can a machine become outdated if it will still find things that other ones have missed??
  7. The problem with Merrill and his YouTube channel is that he needs to just shut his mouth a bit and just stick to things like showing the controls on a unit or the little outings he does. Otherwise, he really isn't all that knowlegable when it comes to metal detectors. One of his biggest things is he talks about how many he owns...like 21 or something like that. Big deal.....plus he has a website called irate metal detectors. Heck I personally have went through over 3 times that amount of units through the years that i have messed with them just to get to where I am today. I try to be careful of my opinion on certain units I have owned that I did not give a good go with because someone else may have taken the time and would be able to give more correct advice toward a specific unit. The problem is this, too many people can put up videos these days and the people who do not know any better take their advice.....whether it be good or bad.
  8. Well I took out the lg24 coil today myself....just in the back yard. Found a Canadian nickle of all things and possibly a civil war bullet that had hit a very hard item. I find it to be a very good unit. I like it alot.....and alit more than I thought I would actually. I keep mine set up pretty simple....field, full tones, m2 or m1 and adjust the disc to accept everything then adjust the recovery speed to suite the site. Just ground balance and take off. I must admit though I have not found anything particularly deep just yet but that will come with time. It is so robust and well built that I do not worry about like I do with some others I am glad to see you are having success as well!! It motivates us to get off of our rump and go swing!!
  9. I am not sure because it seems the simultaneous multi freq the legend has would be an advantage in your search conditions. You could try the gold field mode on the legend and see what happens in your area. Otherwise I just do not think the xterra would help you out all that much
  10. I had one of the fisher gold bug clones before. It is similar to the clone you have of the g2. Yes, the legend is a better metal detector. It is better made, the screen is nice and you have many more settings to adjust. It handles emi better and it is a very smooth and quiet running unit. It will do better at the beach too for you being a multi frequency unit. So what all do you have to do to get a permit for metal detecting inland and how much will it cost you? Why do you have to wait so long before you get the permit?
  11. The difference though between the eq900 and manticore compared to the xterra pro is the fact you will definitely pay for it before the others with the finds you are retrieving...that makes it that much more fun!! As with most machines with a broader spectrum vdi readout, the numbers do vary a bit even using multi iq and get averaged down a bit with good targets next to iron. But a good signal will only vary slightly and stay withing 3 to 5 digits using multi iq and the 99 segment scale. People have not taken into consideration that common items such as coins are not always flat in the soil matrix either. Some are at angles and some are on edge...etc. Anyways, I think that was a great hunt with your xterra pro!!
  12. Do a noise cancel scan then choose m1 freq, park and pick out what tones you want to use and go to town swinging it. You will forget about that fisher in no time.
  13. I have one coming in. I have watched a few videos on it. Looks like it is a good one from what I have saw. I had the one for the multi kruzer and kept it on the unit. I absolutely loved how good that one did. I am sure or at least I hope itnis as good as the one was on the multi kruzer. Anyone have one they can chime in on with their usage of it??
  14. It makes no sense to me......sorry but I just don't get the idea behind your flow chart. I thought it was going to be for the control symbol settings.
  15. Yeah and I saw that right after I pulled the trigger on a legend the day before you posted yours for sale. Just bad timing. I think its a good unit too.
  16. I have that same green one you are asking about from a fellow who sold his eq800 and it works just fine on my eq900.
  17. I do not know if you are aware of it or not but Monte has passed away and has made that great journey to the detecting field in the promise land. I hated to hear that....he could sure tell you his thoughts too on what he preferred and why. But people do influence others to change their minds sometimes. It has happened to me. Just like this legend I have on the way. If you look at the specs and frequencies between the legend and equinox, they are very similar. Same coil size, previous version legend anyway, just about the same frequencies too. I didn't think I would ever get one but after reading so many success stories with forum members on here and the other ones i frequent, who own both the equinox and a legendb, it made me change my mind. So I hoped on the wagon finally as well.
  18. Like the title says, what helps you influence your purchase on a new unit? When we just had magazines in print, that was about all you got to see for units available and maybe a few field test. I will look at videos too to hear how a machine sounds etc. But I get my real information from the forums. Before I ask questions I look at what people are finding or complaining about with a unit. If the good outweighs the bad I will then seek out a forum member who i have dealt with and PM them of they happen to have that model some more specific questions. So for example when I was swinging nokta makro units before they merged just about everybody was enjoying them and having a blast. Then the legend hits the scene and people complained about the updates, emi issues, speakers....etc. Now it looks like the updates have finally straightened up and people are happy again. When you swing by the xp forums at the moment the same thing is happening because some are having a hard time getting it updated. This kind of stuff has an impact on my decision making. The good thing about the issues people have is the reality of the particular unit and what to expect of you decide to update or not. So what helps make up some of your minds on units your looking to purchase?
  19. Thank you both for clearing the matter up. I appreciate the information I get the company trying to get everyone a better stock coil but I believe I like the round original design myself. The carbon fiber middle rod and arm cuff sounds tempting though. I am looking forward to getting it in very much I have been considering one for a while but the condensed tid scale kept me from pulling the trigger. Everybody who has one seems to be very pleased with theirs. Thanks again!!
  20. Ok so I have a legend on the way. It is a pre owned one from a dealer who sold it to the original owner. The dealer installed the current 1.11 firmware in it before he shipped it out to me. So comparing the new one with the one I am going to receive the only difference I see are the coil, arm cuff and carbon fibre lower stem. Am I correct in my research?? For those in the know, why did nokta change the coil? It looked to me like everyone was doing pretty good with the round original stock coil.
