  1. Way to go Erik! Having fun and collecting a little cash to boot. What could be better than that? 😎
  2. That point is a beauty, Colonel, great find! That's all I can say about that. 😉
  3. That is generally correct, but that all varies with soil conditions and trash contamination. The 22cm and 28cm operate very close to the same in air and mild soil with little trash, but in high minerization and high trash, the 22 can perform better than the 28 because it's smaller size restricts the amount of ground noise and trash signals into the processor, while the 28 will allow more ground noise and trash signals into the processor reducing it's depth capability and reducing separation. But in cleaner ground, the 28 will outperform the 22 on depth.
  4. Good hunt Kaolin! I think you're locked in on the right range. If you had swung over any gold rings, you definitely would have hit them.
  5. I agree with palzunski, the 22cm (9in) coil has really worked well for me too. It is a joy to swing and I can cover small or huge areas with it. The only reason I'm looking at getting a large coil is to add to my detecting tool set. For beaches and fields that have sparse targets, I think a larger coil would be great, but I don't feel like I need it. Eventually I may collect all 3 coils, but in the mean time, my 22 is really working well for me.
  6. Great hunt, UT Dave, well done! Love the roach clip, haven't seen one those since the Nixon administration! 🤣 I'm sure the small Manti-Coil will be coming. It took a year or so for the 6" to come out for the Nox as I recall. Happy Hunting!
  7. I have the earlier version of the X-Pointer Max and just haven't gelled with it. I love the ferrous/non-ferous discrimination and would love to see that in all pinpointers, but my X-Max is a little wonkey and it falses too much in Boost and High mode. I may have to look into the 2023 version. I have the F-Pulse too and love it, but when I first got it I noticed it falsing too much until I found the apparently super secret second manual that's not included with the unit, but Carl graciously posted on DP. It shows you how to clear up all the issues and even explains how they happen. My F-Pulse has been perfect ever since. Here's that second FP manual for those that may be interested. 8. Great find, olie! It's surprising how many people lose those but they are hard to find, well done!
  9. Wow, well done again and congrats on the silver and gold! The GPX and your endless energy delivers again! I need a nap after just looking at all those digs! 😎
  10. Good finds, Geologyhound, well done! The thin metal piece looks like a concertina or similar squeeze box type instrument reed. It could be CW period. The D buckle could be from horse tack or saddle bag but not sure of the age. The button back is also interesting. Not all CW buttons had makers marks, as many were mass produced by third party companies to fulfill demand. The watch is very interesting and looks like it has had a crude field repair, unsure of the age, though. I woild gestimate the pocket knife to be early to mid 1900s, specially if the handle grip is plastic. It reminds me of my old Cub Scout pocket knife design that was popular back in the day.
  11. I was doing some experiments with a dime and various sized and shaped iron objects and got the 7-9 in various programs but I noticed that if it was iron falsing, the Ferrous/Non-Ferrous display (in both horseshoe and big display) would only briefly show any non-ferrous display and would mainly show ferrous display. With the dime near iron, it would show a good solid non-ferrous display over the dime with occasional ferrous display regardless of tone or VDI. This was in surface testing and I haven't done buried testing yet, but I thought that was interesting.
  12. Congrats on the silvers and coppers, okie, that's an impressive haul, well done! Ya'll are forcing me to get that 11x13" coil! 😏
  13. This one brings up some interesting points and tips.
  14. As I understand it, Notch OFF allows every signal through, but Notch at 00.00 notches out just that bin which apparently is where the D2 classifies unknown signals that are generally very low ground noise type signals.
  15. Great hunt, Jeff, and congrats on the gold ring! Well Done! 😎 I saw in another post that curb strips were loaded with coins with very little trash, but in my city curb strips, I find the opposite, specially downtown or near parks. Curb strips here are basically where everybody dumps the trash out of their cars and even the hobos dump zincolns there. 🙄
  16. Way to go Erik, those are awesome finds! I wonder if the roots of those newer trees brought long buried items closer to the surface. Congrats on your well deserved treasure finds, well done!
  17. Dang, I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I don't know if any other of the D2 beach hunters have experienced this or not, perhaps one of them will chime in. Meanwhile, a video was dropped today in the "New D2 Software" thread from an update beta tester leaking some new information about the V0.72 stating the update fixes iron problems, so let's hope that fixes it for you.
  18. Yes, I think many of us D2 owners are hoping for a 9"x5" SMF coil and patiently waiting. 😏
  19. Very pretty ring, congrats on the find! I've never seen a hallmark or carat stamp on the outside of a ring, but I read somewhwere that is not uncommon for Eastern European jewelry. That wolf logo looks familiar, but I can't place it. "SA" with "Italy" stamped usually means made in Salerno Italy, but I've also seen the SA stamp on jewelry from China. Sorry that's not much help. A local jeweler could probably give you better information.
  20. I can't really add much more to the already great opinions given previously, but another consideration is that the Deus is 10 year old technology and the Deus II is the latest technology and considering you can get the Dues II Master setup for $799 US, it's cheaper than the Deus 1.
  21. Man, I'm stumped. The only other thing I can think of, and I don't even know if this a real thing, but I recall some discussion about silent EMI. I didn't get into those discussions at the time, but if it is a thing, maybe that could be a cause. Does this happen at every beach you hunt or just that one?
