 I would like to thank everyone of you who read this post and especially the ones that left comments. For me it has been like attending a celebration of life for a dear friend. I never get up in front of a crowd and say the things that I would like to share about good people and I know that I am not alone.

 I am going to encourage Freddy's family to access this forum to read all of the nice things that people have shared.

 I am adding a picture of our last hunt together in Northern Nevada last October.

Freddy and I spent quite a bit of time together searching and most of the time some finding gold. One five different occasions we spent a week or more on our quests. The first few years we did things together I just knew him as Fred. Then he started referring himself to me as Freddy. A little confused, I asked him is it Fred or Freddy? His response was, my family and close friends call me Freddy.  Freddy and I were searching on a claim that I am part owner of when I found this Heart Nugget, He helped me dig it, a very memorable moment                       He loved to have a shot of Tequila at the end of the day. I am going to have one for Freddy and if you have some, I ask you join me.                                                                                                                     Norm

It is with great sadness that I have to report that our friend and contributor Fred Mason passed away this morning at home with his wife by his side. Fred was a good man, husband and father. He was also a good detectorist and friend to all that knew him.  Fred was also a very generous person, at just about every gathering he made a very large pot of "Chile Verde" and shared it with all.

 The heaviest nugget came from the Quartzsite Metal Detecting Club Claim.                                                                                                                  I didn't get the box full, but have the bottom covered now!

 I just got back home yesterday from wintering in Arizona and am now seemingly a prisoner in my own home due to the virus. I was able to go out detecting many times with only a few skunk days. The last day out, I found this specimen that is quite different from anything I had found before.

 I recently detected an area close to some prospect holes, all of the usual finds, pieces of old tin cans, the broken end of a pick, shell casings, bullets, logging wire and finally a nugget. After finding the first nugget, I really slowed down and very carefully covered the area. The nuggets seemed to be in almost a straight line below a prospect hole. I thought I covered the line carefully, but returned for a second try and found one more piece, the one in the middle. Always detect around the rims of the holes and the adjacent areas.

 Recently my detecting friend went back to Canada to visit his parents. He is an avid detectorist, he took his detector with him to try and get some Canadian silver. He spent some time in the local parks and managed a silver dime.................... a U.S. Rosie.  We laughed and laughed about that.

 This week I went to a local reservoir that was built in the late 20's. The power company that controls the lake level always lowers the water this time of the year for flood control and this year it is lower than normal for this time of year. In the past, I have found several silver coins on the shore line and I thought this trip might yield another one. I decided to hunt the area inside the marina that is exposed. you might have guessed it, I got what my friend went looking for.
