  1. Don't feel bad, grandfather had found some shells from an early WW2 machine gun still on the clip. He took it to the local police station to find out what they were and they almost had a heart attack because they were still live rounds.

After that he got worried that he would dig up some more of them and stopped hunting in that area.

Nice find and glad that you made it home alive with it.

I am curious what would be recommended as the very best snake gaiters for western US work?

These are 100% snake proof, they do get a little warm on a sunny day, but you won't have to worry about snakes.

They are on EBay for a small fortune I'm sure.

  3. Since learning a little bit on this forum I take a bottle of distilled water with me and spray the dirt off the coins when they come out of the ground. That way if dirt is on the coin and I put it i a pouch it won't scratch the coin and cause more damage to it.

However in the past I would wipe as much dirt off it just to see what I found.

That is why I am a newbie and others on this forum are better to learn from.

  4. Good choice on level ground and I use the 10x5 Coil Tech for the creeks where I am at. This weekend it is supposed to be above 40 and I am wanting to get to a spot that I have found several nuggets.

Good luck on your next hunt and just go slow and steady.
