Always nice to read a good story like this and see the pictures of the finds.
Just next time take the picture with the girls wearing the item and no towel as we all like nice photos.
Good luck on your next hunt.

unique finds and I would like to know what they came from as those old items could have bee used on many things including trains.
Good luck on your next hunt and stay safe out there.

Nice finds in any case and very good at the detecting part of the hunt.
Keep up the hard work and it looks like it is paying off for you.

We gave up shoveling snow a few years back, and went to a broom or a snow blower.
If it's to much to sweep grab the snow blower.

That's a good day hunting anywhere. Good luck on your next outing.

The brass insect pin with its double C shaped post and pin is correct for this site's 1860s to 1920s age.
That pin is almost 2 inches in length and made in France for here in the states. Those brass ones were made from 1880 to around 1905, then they changed to another material at a higher price. The high quality ones that were made for Europe were made of gold or glass with some type of stone.
The brass ones were often painted the same colors as the insect would be, and the cost of them were around 60 cents. They were high quality and there were many of them sold.
There are parts of it missing that may have some stones on them.
I hope this helps.
Great hunt and I would be hitting that place again as it could have been from a jewelry box.

Looking very good as usual with some very good color.
Hope you get plenty of exercise in before it gets to cold out there.
Take care and stay safe as those bears are getting hungry this time of year.

Great saves and a long time coming for you.
Wish you more luck and stay safe out there as you dive.

Once again those fields are releasing the old coins to you, and it couldn't happen to a nicer person.
Don't forget to take the 600 out for a field hunt as you know how she gets when neglected.
Good luck and stay safe out there.

Great hunt and I love those old houses and farms to hunt at.
Good luck on your next outing.

You people have some strange people down there, the ambulance returned the head of the bronze guy.
After the head was cut off did the woman try wearing it as a boot or something?
Good luck, and thanks for the story as it is always amazing to read about your part of the world.

I take it you tear down the spoil piles not just detect the entire piles themselves?
My grandfather and I have used a small tractor with a bucket on the front end and scraped and smoothed down many piles. They were spread out so that they would be about 5 or 6 inches deep, and then we searched the area for gold. That was a lot of hard work but was worth it for the knowledge alone that I learned.
Some piles were small enough that we just used a pick, shovel, and rake. Those were the most hardest ones to do, but was also worth the time and trouble.
Good luck and good hunting.

Get a shovel, hard tooth rake and VLF detector with good discrimination as there will be lots of iron trash in the dredge spoils.
That is about the only way to find anything that was missed, and yes it is hard work as well as slow work.
Remember to rake the piles smooth to get to the gold on bottom that way you can find the majority of what was missed.

Nice finds in any book and glad that you were able to save them.
Good luck on your next hunt.

Nice selection, with a few more you could open a stand at a flea market and clean up big.
Good luck on your next outings and stay safe out there.

The middle letter is an H, I have seen the old style lettering of that kind in grandfathers items he had.
So it seems that it could be a child of the person that Phrunt had mentioned.

Make sure to save some that hooch for emergencies such as snakebites.
Now that is real good advice, when a snake bites you take a drink. Make that a really big drink, and then beat that snake senseless. When it bites you again take another drink, go to the car, take another drink, drive to the nearest hospital, take another drink, park the car, take another drink and then go in. Let the medical personnel know what happened and show them the snake that bit you. Make sure it is dead when showing it. After they examine the snake and tell you that it was a common garden snake take another drink and leave.

I see the steaks, where’s the beers?
Never put a bottle of beer on the grill next to a steak for when it blows the steak is ruined.
Congrats on the save UT Dave glad that you found the seated.
Good luck on your next hunt.

Very nice outcome with some nice gold to be had.
You continue to find the nice stuff at the beach, and I hope that it continues.

Nice work and I hope that you can get more time in this year.
You have found a nice area to get the work done and wish I could get back home to get back out there.
Good luck and stay safe out there.

Looks like about a weeks worth of work for you on that trailer, and I hope the rest of your order gets to you real soon.
Just kidding and I know how long items from Australia takes to get here, I ordered some knitting yarn for grandmother a few years ago and thought it would never show up.
Okay I will let you get back to work now.

If you would kindly give me some advise
Personally I would use a wooden handle to be able to use the small sledge again.
I have had trouble with the fiberglass handles over time breaking when out in the sun to long. The wood hold up better in wet areas and sunny areas.

Sorry, but your not really hammered until you find a 20lb. Right now your just a little bit sledged.
Good luck on your next hunt.
