  1. Welcome to the forum and there is always information on here that will improve your skills with what ever detector you use.

When in doubt don't hesitate to ask for help as there is always someone who can answer your questions.

that is the best part of this forum, people do help.

    Good luck and good hunting.

  2. Sorry to see the ears break off and am really glad that you were able to stay on the hunt with the bungee cord.

Nice looking hunt to say the least with some great saves.

Good luck on your next hunt.

A friend broke some ears off his detectors coil and his friend who owns a auto body shop put them back on for him. They used some kind of epoxy that has never broken yet and that was 3 years ago. Just a thought.

  3. I have always left the trash in a bag and left it in one of the trash cans at the park, or if I am in the creeks take the trash to the next gas station and leave it there. Then I take the good stuff home with me and put it in a can or a jar until it adds up to a good amount to spend.

  4. Now that's just crazy, I know that I have not been able to get out there in quite some time, but I have not gone that bonkers yet.

Enjoyed the read and that is some good finds for this time of the year. I think you should go to the beach next because you never know who might of lost something while ice fishing.

Good luck and stay safe from one crazy guy to another.

  5. When I first used my grandfathers sand scoop it needed a handle, so I looked around the shop and found a stainless steel thin wall pipe. I cut it to a length that was comfortable for me and it has been very good for me.

I use mine for checking our the creeks in my neck of the woods when looking for gold. I can dig a few scoops for the pan and check it out faster than using a shovel.

I know it is a little heavier than most materials out there but it works very well and I have not bent it once.

  6. I also agree with Steve H. on the Equinox, because I have been using my grandfathers 800.

I started with only the factory settings and dig almost every strong tone that I hear. I heave hearing issues that makes it hard for me to tell gold from copper. It is a constant ringing in my ears, but I can now tell you what I am going to be digging by looking at the numbers on the screen and the type of tone I am hearing to most degrees.

These new detectors are almost fool proof right out of the box on locating a target to dig when the coil is over a target. Most people on this forum will tell you that it does take many hours of use to learn the detector and that is very true for a newbie.

Good luck on your decision and be very patient when you start learning it. It will come to you on what the detector is trying to tell you.
