  3. Great hunting and some nice finds to boot. Good luck on your next hunt.
  4. Great finds and glad the wind didn't get you. good luck on your next trip.
  5. Steve H. may know who might have them or he might know where to get one made. He is full of knowledge and will direct you in the right place.
  6. Welcome to the forum and I wish you luck on getting together with another person to detect with. There are plenty of people from your part of the country that I am sure would love to meet up with you. You may get several people asking you to go at once so be patient if nobody answers you in just a couple of days. It seems that some of the people here don't get on here over the weekend. Good luck and happy hunting.
  7. Great hunting and some very nice finds. Good luck on your next hunt!
  8. Since I only use the 800, I will say the 800. I have many good finds with it and am happy with what it will do.
  9. Great finds and I think you are going to find some other very nice finds there also. Don't forget to dig everything if it is a strong signal as it may turn out to be gold. Good luck and happy hunting.
  10. Gerry, Thanks for sharing the information on the detectors as I am now more excited about the 800 finding gold. I hope to soon be able to get with you and take a few classes on nugget finding when I get back home. Thanks for sharing the photos and giving such a great write up about the different detectors. Without people like you and Steve H. where would somebody get good information from.
  11. It is not hype at all, I am a newbie myself and I was given my grandfathers 800 when he passed away. I am learning the unit and have found many very nice items with it, and also some very smelly things that I won't go into. The unit is also water proof to an extent should you want to detect in the lakes near you. If you are only wanting a unit for dry land take a look at the Vanquish series 450 as it will do most of the same things the 800 can do but is not waterproof. Welcome to the forum and good luck on your detector hunt.
  12. Welcome to the forum, and hope you share some of your stories and finds. Good luck Good hunting, and have fun.
  13. I would love to go to either New Zealand or Australia for a hunt that would last 4 months, and then go to Alaska for some gold. I know I am going to those locations but is it for a much shorter time than I would like.
  14. Nice pipe, to bad the bottle was broken. Stay warm the water is getting to cold to be out there right now. Good hunting on your next trip.
  15. This past year after I turned 24 I was given my grandfathers detectors ( a 800 and a Tracker IV ) when he died. So I have not been detecting a full year yet, but I have panned for gold and sluiced for about 12 years.
  16. Nice find, and I hope it cleans up well for you. Antiques like that are hard to find anymore. Good luck on your next outing.
  17. Fantastic hunting and I know it was some hard work for you. Good luck on your next outing.
  18. Fantastic finds and a nice seated. Good luck on your next outing.
  19. Since I have been given my grandfathers detectors I only have 2, and until I really know them I will stick to just those. I have had great luck with the 800 an don't even think I could ever beat it so I am happy with what I have. Maybe in the future I might change my mind, but who knows what the future holds. I hope you didn't ask Steve H because I am sure he can beat all of us.
  20. Great find and hard work to get it, but I know it was well worth the time. Good luck on your next hunt.
  21. Welcome aboard and glad your with us here. Hope that you share your stories and show some pictures of your finds. I have also had problems with the colors but over time became accustomed to them and they don't bother me anymore. Just give it some time and you will see that they will work for you. Good hunting.
  22. I also vote for Amber, looks like a nice piece. Good hunting and good luck on your next outing.
  23. Great job and I have done similar with grandfather a few times. We used his homemade 20 foot sluice and it did quite well. We would average at least 9 ounces of very fine gold, and close to 30 ounces of small to average size nuggets. Nice setup you have and keep up the hard work.
  24. Since I am new at this and using grandfathers equipment I can say I have only used the 800 for about 40 hours total so far. Wait until the end of 2021 to see how much time I get on it as I know it will be a lot.
