  1. If you are ever out this way we could go to some of my areas I have been hunting if you like. Thank you for your kind words, and good luck on your next hunt.
  2. Joe, Please get well soon and have a speedy recovery. Hope the detector was also rescued and not lost.
  3. DB after I enlarged the picture it looks like either an 1838 or a 1839. Wish I could get a rubbing to see if it brings out more detail from it. Great finds after so much time lost, and I wish you more luck in the future.
  4. At times I feel that he has never left my side and is still teaching me new things. Thank you for the nice words. Yes I will bring the Nox with me.
  5. Yes that was it, thank you so much and I have sent the link to my friend. Caleb
  6. There was an article a few weeks ago about a find that needed to be identified. It was a square pendant with some gold flakes inside. Several people had seen them before and there was a link to the item. I have someone that is wanting to find a couple of them, and would like to point them in the right direction. Thank you, Caleb
  7. Nice hunt at the beach and good to see you keep at it to make a good find. Good luck on your next outing.
  8. Just got permission to hunt another old church in the same neighborhood as this one. They say it was the only other church for several miles from the rest of the county. These 2 churches also taught English to the Indians back in their hay days. Can't wait for warm weather to get here, but next week I have to go to the Gulf and drop off some equipment.
  9. Nice finds even if the Indian Heads got a bit roughed up, I know that the water on the copper really eats them up. Good luck on your next hunt.
  10. That is a very nice piece of ore Steve a true specimen for sure.
  11. Nice looking IH'S for sure, good weather, and it seems that you beat the devil at his own game. Good luck on your next hunt!
  12. I was using Park 1, because of where I was at. When I am at a farm house or field is when I have been using Field 1. I find that the 800 does really good with the factory settings and I just do the ground balance and noise to it. I have never messed with the tones so I guess they are on 50 tones, and I have gotten used to all the chatter that comes with it.
  13. Yes I have been hunting parks and baseball fields, but do not have the 15" coil. I have the stock 11" coil and most of my finds is with the sense at 18 with everything else on factory settings. I will remember what you have stated and give it a try the next time I get a chance at another field. Did you see the 23 cents I found a couple of days ago?
  14. I am using my grandfathers Equinox 800 since he died, and no I have not found a ring yet. I know that it is only a matter of time since I am still learning this unit, so I am happy with what I have already found. Except for the trash that is.
  15. Great finds, and one of these days I will find a ring (I hope). Good luck on your next outing. You must be kidding me, cold? Here it has been in the low 30's if even 30, I have been hunting when it hit a high of 34 a couple of days ago.
  16. Great finds and good hunting for the foundation. The footing area I would be checking for sure and the path to the pond. Some of those ponds were used like a septic tank today, So don't run across any stinky coins. Good luck on your next hunt.
  17. Good finds for this time of the year in your area, and I wish you more luck on your next outing. The reel probably fell out of someones truck, or there used to be a pond located there at one time.
  18. You must be doing something right for sure, as that looks like my trash digs except for just a few coins that I have found. Good luck in 2021.
  19. I have found that when I go the the county building and go through the OLD PLAT books, they will have good information on who lived where and what the old buildings were. I have found that several old buildings that have since been torn down in a small town near me had 16 stables and a hotel. When I get a chance later this year I plan on hitting all of them. Do your research and then re-do the research and ask questions with the oldest people in the area to see if they remember those sites. Good luck and happy hunting.
  20. There has been several gold mines here in Illinois, and several people that I know finds nuggets every year using their metal detector. There is more found using a sluice or dredge in my area than a detector, but I for one am learning how to detect gold with my 800, so soon I will be posting some of those nuggets myself I hope.
  21. Yes all 3 coins are silver and in very good condition. Since it turn colder I have stayed indoors until it gets above 30 degrees, but plan to get back out the soon. Thank you and don't just think that we are the only ones with finds like this, do some research in your area and look for something in the country to hunt. I have found that old churches and schools are the best places to research.
  22. The old clothes lines were to the left of the church and before the cemetery also to the left of the church. They have been gone for almost 50 years now, but you can still see where they were. Thanks for the tip.
  23. Take it easy so maybe you can join them in the future.
  24. I did forget to mention that I used only the factory settings on Park 1, Sense at 18, and then did the standard GB and Noise cancel. When I have some warmer weather I plan to go back and do more than a 20X20 area. This area needs to be gone over very carefully or I will miss something. I have found the 3 locations where the old out houses were located on the property. If anyone has any more suggestions I am all ears and ready to learn what to do next.
