  1. It is an April Fools' joke. The video is posted on April 1st, and the author of the video even tells his viewers this. From the comments of his video. Commenter: Ого! А что, так можно было?👍👍👍 Саша, ты мастер! Translation: Wow! Was that possible? 👍👍👍 Sasha, you are a master! His Reply: Это была шутка к 1 Апреля 🙂 Translation: It was a joke for April 1, 🙂
  2. Check the date of the video. It was an April Fools' Joke. According to Google Translate, that was also said in the comments by the prankster.
  3. Jeff if you can figure out Canadian Clad, I would be forever grateful! I agree with CanadianScouser on the Legends inability to work on Canadian Clad at this point. Unless there is some tuning over my head that needs to be done to the machine. In fairness, the NOX doesn't work either. I have had my Nox since it was released, and I don't think I have found any Clad except for pennies. I can go out to the same spot with any of my single freq detectors and find enough clad to buy lunch in a short time (since we have one and two dollar coins, it doesn't take too long). The issue is the sounds and VDI are all over the place and there really isn't anything consistent. Even year to year, they behave a bit differently. So it is very hard to set tone breaks, and pitch. Since the Legend handles very similarly to the NOX, I am wondering if this may be a side effect of MF detectors? For me, I am not interested in just a coin shooter, and want to try and pull the most valuable stuff out of the ground, but it is nice to always come home with a couple bucks if you get skunked on anything of higher value. With both the Legend (on current firmware), and the NOX I have to decide if I want to forgo any Clad in the hopes of a rarer find, that maybe my SF detectors would miss. In my experience, I get more value in finds per hour using a SF detector in parks and fresh water beaches than both the Nox and Legend. Although my time on the Legend is still relatively low, I have yet to find anything other than a penny when it comes to Clad. I would be more than happy to send some Canadian Clad to any testers who are more skilled than I, and maybe they can figure it out. If Nokta wants some for testing, let me know.
  4. I have done some R&D, and our coins are basically made from garbage ;). The Equinox does do well on older coins, as they were made from quality metals at the time. That being said. My Kruser, or my dads AT Max, simplex, fisher. All give nice, solid diggable chimes when hitting modern Canadian coins. The Equinox however does not ever give a signal that you would want to dig. I have spent time trying to figure out the nuances of our coins with the Nox, and it results in digging up way too much junk. You basically have to dig any repeatable sound. Regardless of how it sounds or what VDI numbers you are getting. With the two new flagship MFD out, and seeing how they both seem to be holding up well. If one of them can also do Canadian clad, it most likely would be worth a purchase for me.
  5. CJC, Have you had any luck with getting any CDN clad with your Legend? I love my Nox, but can not find any clad, loonies or toonies with it. Although coins are not my primary reason to MD, but it's always nice to come back from a day of detecting with a couple bucks in change at the very least. Wasn't sure if it is a limitation of the Nox, or something more specific to Multi frequency detectors. Thanks in advance.
  6. Just curious. What sensitivities are you running? In my experience the NOX is a chirpy detector. If I run it above 22 in my areas it can be very noisy. I had a hard time in the beginning getting past the noise and dug many holes to nowhere (even stopped using it for a year or so). With time, I felt more comfortable running it on a high sensitivity and just filtering out the ghost tones with my ears. You mention that changing sensitivity doesn't help much. How low have gone? I would be concerned if your NOX was still behaving this way with a low sensitivity (below 15). You probably don't want to detect down there, but it might be a worthwhile test for troubleshooting. There is one YouTuber I can't remember their name, but he does 3-4 hour live detecting. He mostly uses the NOX. All I can remember is he detects in NYC. Watching his videos gave me the confidence to trust my NOX despite the chirpiness of the detector. Have you played around with iron-bias? If so what are your settings?
  7. Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I didn't not know I should remove it the coil and clean between it.
  8. So did you remove the one from your Nox? I can see not spending extra money on a coil cover and taking a chance. At least the Nox I got came with one installed. Just curious of the downside of using one in your opinion.
  9. If you don't mind me asking. What is the reason why you never use a cover?
  10. I use this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2939713 Works well. Apparently it fits the Monster 1000 as well.
  11. Interesting. I run mine in 3 tone as well, with the stock coil. I really haven't spent enough time with it and was going off of other post recommends. I also have read that 3 tone with gain 89 or lower has better separation. Do you feel that if you still avoid 3 tone with your other coil? Or are you finding this is only noticeable with the AF28? Thanks for the info.
  12. Well lets face it. They may fix the problem but it won't help us until ours breaks and they replace with a stronger model. The likely hood of them admitting in a design/manufacturing flaw and offering a recall for a coil is probably not going to happen. In the meantime there are a few solutions that might help us to avoid being without a detector. It isn't a shot at Minelab, just companies in general.
  13. My first thought was a 3D printed solution. Before I started in CAD I checked thingiverse (Open source site for 3d printed files) and there are a couple of shims there. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3949618 Someone also created this solution. Might be worth a try for people that have access to a 3d printer. It is only a few cents in plastic for a print that size. Good Luck.
