  1. I have watched quite a few videos the last six months or so from some of the Eastern European testers. They have a somewhat different approach than we in the USA because their conditions are also different. Their ancient habitation sites seem to have plenty of very small iron bits, but not a lot of whole nails or the farm & wagon iron we dig on relic sites. The desirable targets they search for seem to be much smaller and of lower conductivity than ours. Still, I have learned a lot from some of them and can use it for my sites. In very heavy nails, their approach is helpful to un mask good targets that are being drug down by the co located iron. I still have to decide how small/low I want to go, but today’s machines can pull some surprising targets. Picking through the iron with a smaller coil and/or faster separation is a different game for different conditions. I want to have the ability to set a machine up to hunt the conditions I have. I don’t need to reinvent the wheel.
  2. That’s quite an assortment of finds. Glad you were able to get out on some different beach.
  3. The new Rutus Versa has 120 points also, divided up a little differently than previous models. It and my Whites MXT 180 point scale do a good job boxing in common Al trash. How a detector processes & normalizes the SMF signal is really the secret sauce on TID. The Nokta Legend only has 60 points, but has the most solid TID lock & accuracy out of all my detectors.
  4. Look’s like a fine day afield. Pretty Narcissus. I hate gnats.
  5. Those a valid & correct observations. I have noticed no practical diminishment of sensitivity to the small targets I want to dig with the 13" coils I have from Nokta, Detech or Garrett. I know there is some on the smallest of targets, but anything smaller than a primer cap is not of much interest to me on Relic/coin sites. Fine jewelry/chains would be a different matter. I will try to post my observations on the 15" NEL Attack/Legend performance at some point.
  6. I sent PayPal payment last night. NEL Attack 15X15. 14-21 days shipping. I hope it comes thru alright as I think it will give me some more depth for my mild ground sites. I have one spot(water sand) that has played out after many nice deep coins. I also have a new large permission dating to the mid 1830's that I doubt has ever been detected and should be mostly mild dirt. Many of the old areas would have been plowed in latter times. It is all improved pasture & woods now. The Nokta LG35 coil is excellent in every way & my experience with NEL coils is also excellent, so I am hopeful.
  7. I will encourage you to read the Users Manual over & over. Garrett and Whites both give good descriptions of features that will make sense after you get wrapped around the unit.
  8. What detector are you referring to?
  9. I did get a response from NEL this morning. I think I will place the order & make the Pay Pal payment and see if it shows up.
  10. Very nice. I really like the larger coils I have too.
  11. Very good hunting. Maybe your spot with the cooking pits is part of the detached kitchen. Your lead coin could be a bag seal.
  12. No Rattlesnakes but a few Copperheads. They’re prettier and not in as bad a mood.
  13. SMF will give better Discrimination accuracy and more accurate tone ID than Single frequency. Members here who regularly hunt for the type of targets you mention will have to advise on over 40 kHz benefits.
  14. Given where you intend to detect, (black sand mineralization & salt water beach) and you intended targets, (small to very small gold), a SMF unit like the Legend will perform significantly better on both ground handling and target acquisition. The Legend's 40kHz capability will also be helpful. The Kruzer series, even the Gold Kruzer are very good for what they are, single frequency. For me, if you have tough ground conditions, SMF is the way to be most productive. That is my experience.
  15. So called "old" tech still works, as it always did. Newer tech is great, but doesn't necessarily obsolete everything that came before. I enjoy that different machines have different capabilities & strengths. It keeps detecting interesting. Excellent finds, Sir.
  16. Thanks for posting the video. I had not heard of him before. He seems to know his stuff & has sites similar to mine, full of nice rusty small iron.
  17. I am disappointed in not having received any response from NEL concerning my Email order request on March 07. I hope they will be able to at some point.
  18. I have never heard of Hennings or counterfeit Nickels. I will have to look that up. Thanks,
  19. Welcome from East Texas.
