1. SMF will give better Discrimination accuracy and more accurate tone ID than Single frequency. Members here who regularly hunt for the type of targets you mention will have to advise on over 40 kHz benefits.
2. Given where you intend to detect, (black sand mineralization & salt water beach) and you intended targets, (small to very small gold), a SMF unit like the Legend will perform significantly better on both ground handling and target acquisition. The Legend's 40kHz capability will also be helpful. The Kruzer series, even the Gold Kruzer are very good for what they are, single frequency. For me, if you have tough ground conditions, SMF is the way to be most productive. That is my experience.
3. So called "old" tech still works, as it always did. Newer tech is great, but doesn't necessarily obsolete everything that came before. I enjoy that different machines have different capabilities & strengths. It keeps detecting interesting. Excellent finds, Sir.
4. Thanks for posting the video. I had not heard of him before. He seems to know his stuff & has sites similar to mine, full of nice rusty small iron.
5. I am disappointed in not having received any response from NEL concerning my Email order request on March 07. I hope they will be able to at some point.
6. I have never heard of Hennings or counterfeit Nickels. I will have to look that up. Thanks,
7. Welcome from East Texas.
8. Welcome from East Texas.
9. https://youtu.be/EibsAtVOT5g Okay, this seems to work.
10. Sorry. All this kind of stuff is new & unfamiliar to me. You should be able to Copy and Paste the link into your Browser. You can also search You Tube for the channel, "Red Dirt Detecting". I will learn as I go. Please see my Post below.
11. A new update removes the old version and any saved settings as far as I know. They have added to disconnect the coil when updating on NC 3.7. Then a Master Reset.
12. Thanks @F350Platinum. All this kind of thing is new to me.
13. A short video showing the Versa on my mineralized test bed.
14. http://https://youtu.be/EibsAtVOT5g?feature=shared I never thought I would do YouTube but here it is. A video I made on the now released NC 3.7 software. The emphasis is on the Versa's performance in mineralized soil & the units Hot Rock adjustment. Others have put out better videos but there is not much information out there showing the special considerations that need to be taken to improve detector performance in mineralized ground.
15. @Iffy Signals did a good job of highlighting some of the features/control adjustments that make the Versa so capable/versatile.
16. Excellent on the Manticore and especially on the operator.
17. Two new videos are up with the released NC 3.7 update.
18. They are Bluetooth capable or can be wired, but when used with the Versa they connect with the detector’s proprietary internal transmitter. No lag, very good range & connection hold. Excellent audio & very comfortable.
19. The new NC 3.7 update has been made available on the Rutus web site. It includes better Unmasking capabilities in Iron, especially for low conductors. More accurate/understandable ID Graph response. Bottle cap filter now available for all Modes. Improved Small Target Boost control & adjustable display screen Contrast. The Users Manual has also been nicely revised with more detailed operation descriptions. I believe Rutus intends to continue improving the units performance & capabilities in future updates. The previous Rutus Atrex model also has a new update available that includes improvements made in the Versa's development.
20. And even our shovels were not as good as what is available today. Hard to get thru roots with a Drain spade or garden hand trowel. I do still have my brass coin probe.
21. Very nice. You know there is more.
