  1. Your shell casing is a 410 ga shotshell head. It had a paper case.
  2. Nice hunt. Your "brass gasket" is a alarm clock frame.
  3. Larry has a good YouTube channel, "Saving Local History". He is a knowledgeable old time relic hunter.
  4. Welcome from East Texas.
  5. Welcome from East Texas.
  6. That sounds like a real interesting & fun opportunity. I had never even heard of cylindrical shot. That must be very early. About what diameter is it? Was it used in a fowling piece?
  7. I think it is similar to XP's X-Y screen. On the Atrex, the headphones are sold as an accessory along with a wireless transmitter. There is also a mated wireless receiver available for other HPs. This is very similar to Garrett's Z Lynk. Hopefully the Versa will have a built in transmitter like other waterproof detectors. Final specs are still to be announced.
  8. It does not appear to be large enough to hold any usable amount of Black Powder for reloading. 40-70+ grains is needed for most calibers. How much Mercury is used to amalgamate a small take of Gold?
  9. And I thought I was bad chasing a target down. Welcome from East Texas.
  10. Glad to see you here.
  11. And a nice seashell too. Well done Sir.
  12. I am curious about the little "spoon" also. Perhaps to handle Mercury? The suspender clip is very neat. Nice RF cartridge cases too. .44 Henry? Hopefully V1.1 will get the D2 lined back out. The Legend does very well in the iron. I keep my first Tone break at 7 to help unmask in small ferrous. Nice hunt.
  13. Mark, Read all the forum discussion you can about running the Tarsacci, here and on Dankowski's forum. It will help a lot on the learning curve. That and try several different pairs of headphones until you find some that bring out the Tones the best for YOU. It should prove to be a very good machine in your red clay. I have the same type of soil on many of my relic sites but without the coal waste. Folks in East Texas were wood burners!
  14. Thank you for the reply. Helping on a professional archeology dig would be very interesting I'm sure.
  15. I have actually dug quite a few Ladies Compacts.
  16. @xawi29 Thank you for the information. Since I notice you have experience with the Rutus Alter & Atrex, what is your opinion on how their detectors perform in high mineralization. Also if the All Metal channel gives good ID depth. Has their detector performance increased with each new model's introduction? I am wondering what advancement the Versa may have above the Atrex 2.0.
  17. That is good to know. Is the added expense some sort of Import duty? I have never purchased anything from overseas before. One of the Polish sites lists the Versa as Out of Stock but prices about $785 w/ VAT. That does not include any shipping. Does the VAT apply to sales to the USA?
  18. That is some nice digging. Even the bigger iron could have been something interesting.
  19. I have also been studying the Users Manual for the Atrex V2 to get a better feel for their units. The Versa manual is not out yet. It has been a good education. They are serious about it.
  20. I sent an E mail inquiry to the UK distributor and received a prompt reply. The Versa is expected to be available in July/August. The anticipated price is 700 Pounds(about $868) A bit more expensive than I was hoping but I am quite interested even with added shipping.
  21. That's a good start. I dug some relics with mine this past weekend. Great machine in the right places.
