  1. That makes sense to me. My Tarsacci can be effected by EMI but not as bad as some of my other units. It has always been huntable no matter where. Change frequency or drop Threshold/Sensitivity and it is still very effective. Maybe you will get a chance to try one again.
  2. I dug another War Nickel yesterday, 1943S. It comes in a bit lower at 51 than my other example but still shows my small sample trend of early war year production having higher TIDs. Found in low wet ground, no major corrosion but encrusted with the minerals from the ground water like all items dug there.
  3. Welcome from East Texas.
  4. I wish I could let you try the Rutus Versa in your conditions. It handles mineralization extremely well & the conductive subtraction W multi is very stable & effective. It is available in all modes, not just Beach. The neat adjustments that it has that I suspect would be a help to you are the Tone length control(separate from Reaction) and Dual modes. Your conditions would be a very good test environment for the unit. Your experience & knowledge would give valuable insight. @EL NINO77may know if anyone is using the Versa on the beach. I will have to go back and re read this whole topic, but have you given thought to trying the Manticore?
  5. Glad you are making some advances in setting up for your tough site conditions. Do you think the tracking GB was helping on the wave wash at the expense of hurting on the Black sand? The wash changes quickly, the actual Ground slower? Your in a hard fight with BS on one side & salt conductivity& small gold on the other. Interesting that the smaller coils reactivity in slower than the larger coil. Just goes to show hunting conditions don’t always follow the text book.
  6. That is a wonderful opportunity right there, almost unheard of nowadays. Some beautiful finds. I see one of your cuff links has the Masonic emblem of the Compass and Square. Please keep us informed on your adventure.
  7. There certainly are still targets to dig. All the clean signals are pretty much gone, but things are still hidden in the iron. The challenges of iron & higher minerals make the site a very good learning environment, that, and it is very scenic & peaceful. The place feels old.
  8. I took a couple of hours late this afternoon to enjoy the fine weather and run the Versa on some well searched ground. I am to the point to where I feel very comfortable with the machine, but I am still trying to learn the finer points of some of the settings. These were dug along & beside the old road on the same site as the previous posts in this thread. Field mode, Multi Low conductors, Hot Rock adjustment maxed out @10. Small target Boost 30, Iron filter 0. DD23 coil. I dug no unknown iron other than 2 small pieces of thin rusty wire & they were suspect. Brass latch with Patent dates May 84, 86 & 88, .38 Short Rimfire case head stamped H(Winchester), harmonica reed pieces, .45cal rifle ball & O buckshot. The iron index key is quite old.
  9. The Ground rules. Mineralized ground rules harshly. Often frustrating, but all these variables keep things interesting & make you continue to learn.
  10. That is in nice condition. The site seems to have some history before the War.
  11. Mind your Recovery speed/Sweep speed. Recovery 1 needs to be quite slow unless it's a near surface target.
  12. Mine is still on my High School Ag jacket hanging in the closet. Solid Brass pin.
  13. Very interesting. That is something specific for sure. The disc appears to be soldered on looking at the back side.
  14. Very good hunting to find a spot like that. Makes you wonder if the house was suddenly destroyed somehow to find that kind of concentration of targets. Perhaps a tornado? No signs of fire damage.
  15. Your finding your groove now. It seems to always take me a hunt or two on a new site to really get dialed in for the targets that aren't gimmes.
  16. IHPs are always nice. The tag is a pretty unique find.
  17. Centerville Electronics may very well have a NOS screen lens for it.
  18. Welcome from East Texas. The Legend is a very usable & capable machine.
  19. The larger coil makes a noticeable improvement in the overall performance of the unit. Hard to describe but the machine seems bolder.
  20. Welcome from East Texas.

    Welcome back from East Texas.
  22. What is it made from, Brass? If so, I would not unless as a very last resort and then at a very low wattage with the good side coated heavily in Vaseline. A composite cleaning pencil would be my first choice.
