  1. @xawi29  Thank you for the information. Since I notice you have experience with the Rutus Alter & Atrex, what is your opinion on how their detectors perform in high mineralization.   Also if the All Metal channel gives good ID depth.   Has their detector performance increased with each new model's introduction?  I am wondering what advancement the Versa may have above the Atrex 2.0.

According to everything, Rutus VERSA still does not work in Stereo MIXED mode, but it offers independent settings of the Static and Dynamic Detector channels in its various MIX detection programs, even in each of these programs independently.

So I assume this means you can adjust the volume of each component(Motion/Static All Metal & Motion Disc tone) of the Mixed mode as well as the sensitivity & other parameters?

  3. @EL NINO77   Is it possible to for the Versa's Mixed Mode to be true stereo so that with headphones the All Metal channel is in one ear & the Disc tone in the Other? That would be a huge benefit.

The Tarsacci Mixed mode is not and the All Metal overpowers the Disc tone. Still useful but it could be so much better if it was stereo and each channel volume was independent.

    Looks like Equinox competition.

Given the supposed capability based on prior units(Alter 71 & Atrex) and the very high degree of adjustability to suit advanced users, it will be a top tier detector. Features like True threshold based All Metal & Mixed Mode aren't even offered by other major manufacturers. If it is introduced at a reasonable price it will be a formidable competitor and their Dealer network will expand. They have contracted to have it produced in a very modern facility that should have any needed production capacity.

It may be like the Whites VCi3 or even Deus and seem too complicated to many but there are enough serious detector cranks in the world to make it a success.  I intend to give it serious consideration since many of my sites on on difficult ground. I already have enough high performance daily drivers. Having something that can really push the boundaries would be interesting & fun. It may still be a while before Nokta introduces their PI & the Axiom is too much for me to justify.

The Southern Deer Fly is the F-16 of blood sucking insects. We're at peak season for them now, If you're on a steep hill a squadron of them might cause you to take a tumble. 🤬deer-fly.jpg.e8eab47e720a70b17d52c6d661ed7310.jpg

The good news is that the bite only hurts, you can let them bite and since they won't let go at that point they're easy to swat. It doesn't itch afterward, there is no welt. I've never heard of anyone getting a disease from the bite here, but it can happen.

The season for them is mostly May into the first or second week of June. There are stragglers for a while. Too bad they infest the best weather we have here. Best to get out hunting when it's below 70°F.

We have "Buffalo Gnats" here at this time of year. They are very small & come in swarms. Their bite will instantly swell and itch for several hours. They love your ears, elbows, the corner of your eye and anywhere else that is hard to reach to swat. I much prefer plain hungry mosquitoes.  I have a mesh veil hat too!

You should have seen me today, long boots with pants stuffed in them and a long sleeve shirt. Wore a mesh bag over my head to keep the deer flies at bay. Poison ivy, ticks and deer flies.

It's better at the beach 😀

And better than sitting at the house!

  7. Chase,  Your perception/thought process should hold true even if there are some differences in the filtering/processing of the signal between the search programs that are unknown.  This added ability to limit the max frequency is going to prove very useful for users that take the time to "think" out how they approach a site based on actual conditions. Wet, conductive ground, especially combined with high mineralization or heavy decomposed iron(rusty ground) is a real challenge many do not consider enough.  When you get your Program table in a more finalized form showing the possible combinations you will have a powerful tool.

  8. As Jeff & others have said. I have found no practical difference in fringe depth between the various Tone options. Each is effective depending on the site conditions and especially the user. It is a very good thing to have so many options available on a detector.
