  1. I dont own a Legend but i do own a similar machine to the F75 the T2,i also have many many multi freq machines as well, but the one detector that has found me the most gold hammered and milled coinage and about every other decent find is the T2,it cannot get any easier to setup just second and away you go,with so many variable settings with such machines as the Legend you are always thinking have i got the settings right. I have had my original T2 since they arrived here in 2006/7 and its never failed me,a massive price drop on a new T2 + boost a few months ago tempted me again and this is also still my everyday use detector. For me simplicity and the low weight aspect the T2 will always be my No1 choice, must admit i am liking the Nox as well this year after owning it for many years as well. The Legend from what i can gather is a world class machine but its never got me to part with money to buy one.
  2. Would like some words of wisdom from folks who have tried and used the Minelab 10x5 DD coil on a GPX in my case specifically the 4500 and also for coin and small artefact hunting,i will clarify this setup will never be used for nugget hunting and i am looking at using it on a very prolific roman trading villa sites which has produced 1000s of roman coins. The ground conditions are very every high mineral content,so hence why i am using the GPX but also because mist of the smaller roman coinage on the surface and top 4-5 inches have been snagged all ready,so looking to go slightly deeper and find some more. I have a brand new Coiltek 6'' Mono but looking for a DD coil to use the iron rejection, some words of wisdom regarding the Minelab 10x5 DD would be most welcome. Many thanks
  3. Tyler,i have both 15x12 Commander coils ie DD and Mono, and was planning on using the Mono version on my TDI Pro but never did,it sat in its box for along time hoping that i would get a GPX at some time in the future, basically my TDI sits in the cupboard and no one would be able to tell the difference it is that good condition it looks like it came off the production line a few hours ago. A few months back i was offered a basically new GPX4500 for a very low price as the seller had no idea,so i grabbed it and it came with a stock 11'' Mono and 15x12 DD coil, but i also had about 5-6 Mono coils that i purchased for using on the TDI,but it never happened, the coils have been used more on my GPX since i have had it and finally have my 2 favourite coils for my permission and use which is solely artefact and hoard hunting as i am not after nuggets here in the UK so i purchased a 11'' DD AI coil from Detech as most of my roman detecting is done on a site that has a massive pumping station hence the AI coil and it does work a treat,my 2nd favourite coil is my Coiltek 18'' Elite Mono and that on the 4500 does punch pretty deep on coins and much larger items and reasonably light as well.
  4. Must admit i have never taken my Equinox into water basically as its never appealed to me,as i live so far inland taking the Nox to the beach or infact any other machine would only be used with the coil being submerged and certainly no higher. After all the horrific stories of water ingress and having to return the machines i am glad i did not, some folks have never had any issues but it must of cost Minelab to address the problem as control head cannot be cheap to replace each time water gets inside. I do like my Nox but just take great care of it as they can be rather fragile.
  5. Simon,i took your advice and went down the LL Bluetooth option,i remembered that i had a brand new spare set of headphones that work brilliant on my Nox for the last few years,so headphones are reliable i checked on the companies website and they have a LL transmitter which matches my headphones.....so the transmitter and the short cable will be here tomorrow and compared to what the Garrett setup would have cost is well under half the price. Well pleased that everything is finally coming together with my GPX project, thanks everyone who has made suggestions.
  6. Luis, well done on receiving your new coil, look forward to some feedback on how it performs.
  7. Must admit i also found that to be the case with my 15x12 SEF coil, pretty good on small hammered coins which most coils are not.
  8. I kept a eye out all day here in the UK and settled on a 850nm filter on my IR camera and during the day i could actually look at the sun during the day but when it came for the total solar eclipse it rained and was massively over cast,so what did i grab on my camera absolutely nothing 🤣🤣🤣
  9. Some tremendous finds and that permission certainly has more potential from that race track, when detecting here in the UK i often look out for 'church spires' and if 2 are within sight i will detect between them as those are often prime locations for finds that have been dropped from horse racing....that is how 'Steeple Chase' got its name from.
  10. One of our UK dealers mentioned about these coils specifically for the T2 which is of course similar to the F75,he mentioned that they are good but being a dealer he did not expand enthusiastically about them,i wont be getting one as i personally think they look just like the older SEF coils that i have all ready, must admit the SEF coils are very good on my T2 so cannot see a reason to duplicate them in my coil arsenal. Nel coils are my main brand for the T2 and really highly rate them, the worse coil that came out for the T2/F75 was that massive 15'' boat anchor job that they produced,i do own one brand new but never used it as it weighs a ton,my SEF 15x12 is much much lighter.
  11. @Alexnov,sorry but i have absolutely no idea what this reply is ???
  12. Chase, after reading your post i dont think i will proceed in buying the Garrett setup, many thanks for the heads up,will continue with my wired setup for the moment.....thanks again.
  13. Welcome to the forum, must admit most of my detecting over the last 50 years here in the UK has been on farm land both ploughed and pasture and find very small amount of farm related items, mainly horse tack, thimbles and everything else but very few machinery items.
  14. Having been searching for a decent wireless setup and found a brand new set of TX/RX Garrett modules and everything that i am after for my GPX project, although the price that the seller is asking is way cheaper than the normal asking price i am negotiating him down ever more if i can. One thing that slightly concerns me is will the coil interfere with the Garrett wirefree setup or should it all be ok and work without any issues ?? My Docs screamer case arrived yesterday and all put on my GPX with the smaller battery and all i need to finish the whole wirefree project is the wirefree headphones which i am almost certain should be sorted this week.
  15. In theory it sounds very appealing but in reality it could be a nightmare unless you have some basic idea on how to repair it if it goes wrong and that is a very high possibility as electronics are getting older,if it was a highly specialised machine which it is not and you had a specific need for it then possibly yes. Some truly amazing 'brand new' offers are on the market at the moment which are far far far more advanced than what these 2 machines that have been offered,i certainly would not take the risk but what option you choose i wish you good luck.
  16. I see it as a last ditch survival effort to save the company from going under,i took advantage of getting T2+at a crazy low price here in the UK about 6 weeks or so ago and never regretted it.I would have thought that you would keep some of the older models still going till after the launch of some newer models but that is not happening......if they do bring out a few new models then i seriously hope sales start ramping back up again for the company. The bread and butter range has to be the middle of the range type of detector ie like the Equinox etc rather than a much narrower market in specialised machines like gold hunting and twin boxes. Must admit i am glad i purchased a new T2+ as a backup just incase my old faithful original T2 does eventually go to the old detector grave yard in the sky,it certainly does not owe me anything and found me the most gold coinage for sure.
  17. Possibly and this is a total shot in the dark but one could be a Mono coil which of course have less copper winding so in theory should be lighter, and the other is probably a Dual field coil with copper winding on the small coil section......of course i could be wrong and is purely just a guess.
  18. I have both the 15x12 DD and Mono but never used either, much prefer the Coiltek 14x9 or Coiltek 18'' Mono Elite, just something about the Commander coils that i dont like. But $100 is pretty cheap though and the price is low because i think they are not a popular coil for some reason.
  19. Steve, amazing find that BA Palstave, some of them come out the ground after say 3000+ years and still as sharp as the day they got buried, some also come out the ground with amazing Patination but one thing that needs watching is Bronze disease which can start corroding the actual bronze away and destroying the Bronze item,so it has to be specially treated by a skilled person.
  20. Very well done on finding such a stunning gold chain, did it come with the rings on or did you find those as well ?? Once again well done.
  21. My oldest find thus far is a Celtic 'Whaddon Chase' gold stater from about 55BC that i found about 6 years back with my trusty old T2 with the 5'' coil on,only down about 5 inches but gave a lovely banging signal.
  22. @Steve Herschbach “Almost sounds like Fisher is liquidating all the older models - hope something new is coming to replace them and it's not a getting out of the detector business sale. Has a cash flow desperation feel to it.” That is bang on the nail, that is what i have been saying for well over a year,me thinks things at Fisher are not all that healthy and even with this pruning of inventory i dont think they will survive.....of course time will tell and its a good time for us as detectorist and the bargains that we can grab. Of course i hope that i am seriously wrong but but gut feeling tells me that i am not.
  23. I personally love and use the XP MI-6,you can get the lesser spec one ie the XP MP-4 which does not connect to the Deus,so as you have mentioned you dont require a Bluetooth connection then XP MP-4 would be my recommendation because i use one, cannot suggest any rechargeable pinpointers as i have never used others.
  24. I am not surprised at all,i mentioned in a earlier post i doubt it would reach less than half that amount, you could see that it was being promoted to be something rather special which incidentally in my mind its not. Anyway it will probably be re-admitted into another auction and we will see it being promoted again, even with the current high price of gold its still not worth the investment into it.
  25. Sven, great to see you back out again and posting and with your trusty Tesoro machines,i totally agree with you about getting the fun back again in detecting as with all these modern machines they can take away the enjoyment.
