  1. Luis, thanks very much that information, the Jam2 headphones have a 20hours + battery life which is plenty enough, will take a look at a bluetooth transmitter to use with the headphones....thanks again
  2. Good afternoon Folks,i am trying to reduce all the allied wires etc connected on my GPX4500,the specific project is using cordless headphones, have been looking at the Garrett setups but i am looking at getting possibly a full days use out of the headphones and the Garrett setup does seem to be the current way forward.Does anyone use these on the GPX or can anyone suggest possibly another setup. Looking at also doing away with the GPX bloody great car battery setup but Docs screamer would be ideal but they dont deliver here to the UK,i have the option of this setup but its complete but without the pouch for carrying the batteries and amp,so basically stuffed on the part of my GPX setup. So just currently working on the cordless headphones. Another thing i am currently working on is doing away with the GPX full harness and using the over the shoulder strap at the moment and that is also making headway as i hate wearing a full harness and battery and all the wires from the amp,the strap can certainly carry the weight of a GPX with my 18'' Coilek Mono Elite coil,so making headway with the full harness. Any suggestions/advice or help would be most welcome,if only getting Docs screamer battery setup would be alot easier but alas he wont post to the UK due to the batteries.
  3. Tyler, exactly and also i am not in theory after the very small items like bird shot etc and i totally agree that DD only in theory work upto a few inches and i want pure depth hence the larger Mono coils,i was lucky to get the brand new Coiltek 18'' Elite camo coil for well under half price,so that made the decision for me really the 'reward to investment' in that coil increased in my favour. The GPX was never going to be my main everyday deep hitter as i leave that to other VLF detectors like my Nexus machines which do have discrimination,if i start picking up vibes that a possible hoard is on a site then i will bring a few machine both Pulse and VLF with large coils for that specific job.Of course this is just my way of tackling said job and increasing the odd's in my favour. The GPX as mentioned before wont come out to play all that often during the year as in my mind its a highly specialised machine, but when i do think that a site has some serious potential then all it takes is just one decent hoard find to pay for the initial investment which was not a massive amount anyway as i done some selective and gained some amazing kit for not a big outlay.
  4. For hoard/Relic hunting i mainly use the Coiltek 18'' Elite Mono on my 4500,its not as heavy as i thought it would be and after i ordered it i was wondering if i had made a very expensive mistake, that is not the case and made the right decision for sure,my No1 Choice was the Detech 15'' Spiral DD but although its a big favourite of many folks the weight was going to be the deciding factor and the Coiltek won the day. Yes i am aware that the question was mainly related to larger DD coils and i can for the most part only post what i find related to larger Mono coil,i do have both 15x12 Commander coils but never use them and they just sit in a cupboard gathering dust.
  5. Very well done and a well presented post, although i have never done any nugget hunting your post certainly gets the case over on how you do it....many thanks.
  6. Looks lovely on Christmas cards but that is about all,2'' here of snow in the UK brings the whole country to a standstill....and talking about snow etc is only 9 months till Christmas day 🤣🤣 🤣
  7. I have absolutely no idea, but pure gut feeling tells me if it has been engraved or what ever they have done with it,it's for insurance reason and they would not do that unless it was pretty valuable....very well done on possible finding a potentially valuable ring.
  8. I cannot comment on the F75 but 'boy oh boy' do i love using my old T2 in AM mode, had this detector since they arrived on these shores back in 2006/7 and with the NEL Sharpshooter coil on is a deadly combination, due to a very good deal in the last months i got another T2+ with boost mode and that also has a Sharpshooter coil. My all time favourite detector and found me more gold hammered and milled coinage than all my other detectors put together.
  9. I recently purchased the Detech 11'' DD AI coil for my 4500,as yet not done any serious detecting with it as i mainly purchased it for one roman trading villa site which is right next door to a massive pumping station, also have the Coiltek 6'' Mono...but the coil that i have been using the most on the GPX is the Coiltek 14x9 Mono its as light as anything because its foam filled and that mainly stays on the detector almost all the time.
  10. Some tremendous bargain from Fisher at the moment but no new machines to keep the company going forward, does make you wonder if things are not all that well and they are struggling, this is just my pure gut feeling and no i have not heard or seen anything but i think i am not far off the mark with my assumption.
  11. @RONS DETECTORS MINELAB,as usual Ron you provide some excellent answers and always willing to help folks.....all makes alot of sense.
  12. Must admit i totally agree with you 100% on that statement, some of my detectors especially my T2 are 17 years old but that detectors has found me more hammered and milled gold coins than all my other machines put together,it must be about one of the simplest machines to operate.
  13. That is one hell of a job,not for the faint hearted for sure, and you cannot guarantee that it will be 100% water tight, you only would need one ingress of water and Kaput.....good luck if you do decide to go for it and if you do keep us all update even if it does go Kaput 🤣🤣🤣
  14. Welcome from just north of London, the 600 certainly would get my vote as well 😉
  15. I would be most surprised if it gets half the suggested price, they are trying very hard to increase the exposure of this nugget, was it even found in that location no one will ever have any idea so we have just take it as gospel.I am not doubting it just clarifying my comment 🙂
  16. So what do you plan on detecting that is that deep ?? some legend that you have heard about of treasure buried or something else like a gold deposit that you think that you have found. Some more information required then you may get some more specific suggestions as its all depends on the size of the targets that you are after.
  17. Jeff, some very interesting information regarding Park 2 prog, thanks for sharing that snippet. Thanks again
  18. Dont believe everything you read in the Daily Mail, they always hype up valuations to make a good story line 😉
  19. I use a Snake coil on my Laser Trident11 which is a Tesoro for the UK market, works very well for Mudlarking on places like the Thames and exceptionally well for working on trashy roman/saxon sites as well. Seriously thinking about getting a Snake for my new T2 which has the boost mode as that could well be a deadly combination.
  20. Very well done and the Axiom does sound like a tremendous detector,i dont plan on getting one as in theory we dont have gold nuggets as such here in the UK,we of course do have gold coinage and artefacts so would work well detecting for those.
  21. My vote would also go for the Coiltek 10x5,it's such a versatile coil.
  22. He did occasionally provide some good information i must admit.
  23. I use to use my cheapish drone to survey some of my personal permissions here in the UK,but with so many regulations coming in its taken all the enjoyment of using a drone,i can get the same basic information by using google earth and Lidar.Of course i can see the advantage of using a drone for prospecting.
  24. I have absolutely nothing against 'more features' i am basically just saying what i do here in the UK and the specific reason why i guess....regarding what if you are a 'deaf person' well that has always been a major issue since detectors have been made as all early detectors and even modern non TID machines have had that problem for folks who have hard of hearing or infact totally deaf, most modern nugget machines are mainly audio only with the odd few like this new machine that has just come out recently, but even then once again when that machine get to a certain depth level the screen become unreliable and folks then rely on audio and of course the very last resort the audio threshold which only gives a indication that a target is in that location but cannot of course dicriminate. TID on a detectors are absolutely fine and i have nothing against having extra features, but it is only reliable to a certain depth and that is solely the reason why i use audio, any folks who has a hearing difficulty of course has a massive disadvantage but as i recall correctly Nokta have/did produce a vibrating handgrip that may help folks who have hearing loss. But for my detecting and our hammered coinage detecting here in the UK audio is far more reliable than across the pond or infact any other country that solely has milled coinage.
  25. Here in the UK as our silver hammered coinage can vary by a massive margin ie silver content, quality of silver and various sizes of the coins and also i guess the same could go for artefacts as well,TID is in my mind a waste of time and audio is far more reliable especially when hammered coinage is concerned,of course if the coinage is a consistent milled coinage then one can rely on the TID and what the screen is telling you. For me Audio is and always will be king, its far more reliable at depth over a screen and also that very last indicator which is often overlooked is the audio threshold.....on my machines that have screens on i just dont look at them as i use my ears instead of my eyes to make that 'dig/no dig decision' if you rely on just using a screen to make the decision then you could/would leave some desirable targets in the ground.
