  1. Steve, some excellent information, thanks for the link. Absolutely love my TDI Pro and wont ever part with it,it does take a little while to tame it but well worth it in the end.
  2. Would be interesting to see if you could get your hands on a Nexus with a similar coil and do a side by side test !! that would be interesting, just my opinion of course but i feel the Nexus could just have the slight edge as its ability to increase power into the coil.Of course i cannot confirm or deny that but that is the advantage of the Nexus machines that i use is that both the SE and MP especially the latter the increase in voltage is what i feel the machine is all about, very similar to the old Nautilus detectors but even higher voltage i think.
  3. Interesting video although one could not fully understand the text but have a good idea from the audio, not sure what size coil that is but it looks similar to the dual 9'' coil that i use on my Nexus SE and would think although i have never done a similar test would think they would perform the same.Of course the Nexus with the large coil is mainly for extreme depth on large targets and never really found the real depth of the machine but on hoard/artefact size items then that is when these machines earn ones keep. Also have the Nexus MP with a selection of coils which can be used for both detecting small single small items right upto large haord container size targets. What size double 00 coil is that on the Predator ??is that the large coil that you can use or can you also use larger ones as well ?? on the Nexus SE the largest if i recall is the dual 20'' coil but that is a specialist use coil for real deep military/hoard targets. Well done on the video.
  4. If the site is littered with non desirable targets ie iron etc then possible the best way forward would be by using the smaller 6'' coil and swing methodically slow and low. On some of my sites which have alot of nails and other habitational rubbish a small coil is the best combination,i would use Park 1 or 2 and use AM mode and dig everything over 2 that way you wont miss anything decent.,but in trashy site situations small coils in my mind are the only way forward.
  5. Steve, outstanding information and that is basically exactly what i am looking for.only thing that slightly concerns me doing this is how the coax cable will stand upto constantly moving but will give it a go and will update you. Tremendous help and advice as usual.
  6. As the title suggests i am after one of the chest harness's for the TDI Pro that was made by Jimmy Sierra, alas i missed the opportunity to buy one when he had his closing down sale. Its a very slim chance that i will locate one but always worth a try,i am of course open for other suggestions and other makes but not aware of other specific chest harness's for the TDI Pro. If anyone has one or can direct me in the right direct or even a alternative option it would be most welcome. Many thanks
  7. As usual outstanding and useful information,i have never used the 'sl' version but i do own and use my TDI Pro,mainly use it with small coils and i totally agree with what you have mentioned about smaller foot print and the ability to GB the machine better and quicker.I also have much larger mono coils ie upto 18'' and 20'' for deep relic hunting, albeit the larger coils rarely come out to play but i bought them brand new when Jimmy Sierra closed down his website a few years back and got a selection of brand new larger coils for basically the same price as what i could pay for a much smaller coil and even that was including shipping and all taxes to the UK as well.
  8. Jim,some terrific finds, still have and use my DFX which was one of the 1st batch here in the UK,still one of my all time favourite detectors and given me 1000s of hours of enjoyment, although i have a large collection of coils for the detector the main 2 that i use are the 10x6 like yourself and also for depth the 12'' Hotshot concentric coil but never been a fan of the stock coil. Wont ever part with it but it has always found me some terrific finds over the years and after my T2 has found me the most gold coinage, slightly on the heavy side so dont use it as much these days. That US plate thingy looks interesting !!
  9. I may well be wrong but i always thought the TDI Beach Hunter coil was hard wired to the control box ?? on my TDI Pro when using it on high mineral ground conditions i use either the 7.5'' DF or 10x5 folded mono. Both work exceptionally well but still not sure about the Beach Hunter version though. My favourite coil that i mainly use 90% of the time on the TDI is the Coiltek 14x9 mono which is as light as a feather because the coil is foam filled rather than resin but of course it would be totally rubbish is surf or water in general as the coil wants to floats like a fishing float 🙂
  10. So sorry to hear this news, spoke with Fred a few times and always willing to help. R.I.P Fred you will be missed.
  11. Regis me old mate, really enjoyed that, really look forward to seeing some more.
  12. Must admit i found that exceptionally interesting, dont have a clue about nugget shaking tables or even what it does, but the engineering skills that you have are off the scale.Really enjoyed the video and thanks for sharing your skills.
  13. For me currently the 2 main things that i am doing here in the UK is indepth research into some old and potentially new sites, and testing some new coil/detector combinations and also new settings as well on my reasonable large test garden.Never really been a fan on air testing but a 'mature' test garden that has been started maybe over 25 years ago and adding over the years as well. Detectors are basically stripped down and like new after every dig anyway so no point doing that, but the research and testing is vitally important as it in my mind can slightly increase the odds in your favour.Of course we can all detect in different ways and for different targets the main denominator is of course we all hunt for metal of some kind. But when this current world wide health crisis is over then we can put into practice what results that we have found while testing. What ever part of the planet you are from stay safe and well.
  14. Steve,a very interesting article, some of those prices are just 'out of this world' 🤣
  15. Yes,thanks for your input,i am aware on how to set the detectors up,its not a everyday use detector as they had been bought for 'specific' site use,and have been successful in the time that i have owned them........most of my detectors that i own and trust me i do own a hell of alot of them and even a bigger selection of coils which at last count was just over 50. I will carry on using what i consider the best detector/coil combination for that specific site and targets that i am detecting on that day, this could be VLF/Pulse machines with the relevant coil/s and always carry a twin box with me as well. What ever style of detecting or targets you are after i wish you well.
  16. I have used the dual 9'' coil on my Nexus SE for about 4 years,no question about it in that configuration it is deep so well suited for use on clean pasture sites.Discrimination is reasonable but i would not say it was phenomenal.Would i use such a coil design on trashy sites my reply would be categorically 'no' that is still the domain of smaller coils. When i am say a semi trashy site and i also want depth then i use my Nexus MP i do have a selection of large coils and also a Concentric coil for this detector and once again it is deep infact it probably the deepest machine i have that has discrimination, would i choose a large DD coil when using this detector on trashy sites ?? my reply would be 'no' surprisingly enough the 2 coil options that i would use would be 1st the 8x6 (7'') DD coil as that is outstandingly deep for its size, but also still offers amazing discrimination at the same time. The other coil that i would use on trashy sites especially if i was after say silver and hammered gold coins and that would be the 24khz 11.5'' Concentric coil. I hold judgement on that statement infact i would take it with just a pinch of salt.'Perfect Discrimination And Depth In Any Soil'
  17. If its littered with nails etc and as its a very old site, the setup that i would use would be a very small coil ie 4-6'' coil and go methodically slow and try and get in between the nails.Using a stock coil will give you nulled signals and a very high probability of you actually missing some decent finds. On some of my roman/saxon sites especially roman ones they can be littered with nails from the hob nails that roman used on the footwear, and the only way to get through and get the decent targets is by using a small coil the detector/coil of choice for these types of sites are my old faithful T2 and the 5'' coil, this not only allows me to get in between the nails and general non desirables alot better but this 5'' coil also gives pretty decent depth as well.Another few option that i also use are th Deus with the HF elliptical coil and also the Equinox with the 6'' coil, but the common denominator here for these sites are small coil.
  18. Nice one Regis, interesting information about the location of the WM08 module, think i may experiment with mine.
  19. Regis, some tremendous finds me old mate, well done and that new shaft setup that you have just made looks very good.
  20. In theory its a sexy looking piece of kit,but for 150 smackers they certainly wont be getting any of my money.Looks brilliant everything all clean and dandy but when you have used it and then having to pack it all away again at the end of the day and its cover in sh!t the bag is going to covered both inside and out and that super sexy look that is portrayed in the video will be no more. I bought one of those large hitman style cases a few years back but in all the time that i have owned it a Deus has never been stored or transported in it,so its just sit her gathering dust, will probably adapt it for my camera equipment but for detecting it wont ever be used.
  21. I also have a Compadre in my arsenal, mine had the conversion done at the UK repair centre that allows you to use other 5 pin Tesoro coils, main coil that i use on this detector is the 4'' hockey puck for ford/river crossings looking for roman votive offerings and also fine gold jewellery that has been lost when mums take kids down to paddle in the local stream. With the small 4'' coil on you dont get as much drag from the swift running river,Compadre certainly loves small gold items. You certainly got a bargain for $20 for sure.
