  1. I don’t think it’s intentionally dumbed down. It seems to be a 5k with extra timings, and a great new design. But as we know the faster sdc timings are highly unlikely to give depth on big bits, those timings really excel on species and funky shaped bits. When I’m pushing I will give it a good testing on big bits vs the 5k, but I would be expecting very similar results.
  2. Bloody massive that under carriage storage, about 6 inches short on height of fitting 2 quad bikes in there!
  3. No mining equipment inside, this is luxury accomodation mate! Fridges ✅ Them seats in my shed ❌ Rattle Gun ✅ She has air bags to lift her up a bit when going, will be interesting to see how high of the ground she gets. May need to get really really big air bags where we go.
  4. Last years ratio was even worse then that for me mate, I got back 2 mineral reports from nearly 100 40e. The data is priceless, taking all the surface indicators without letting me know is a bit rough I reckon.
  5. Unfortunately someone decided that they needed the 2 caravans I had left on one of my mining leases more then I did, even worse one of them was Paul’s little van from camp yank. While pondering new accomodation for the next yank invasion I spotted this As soon as I seen ‘Special’ I thought of Paul! She is going to need a bit of remodeling but will make fine yank worthy accomodation I reckon. Plenty of room for you in there too Steve if your brave enough to bunk with Paul.
  6. JP must be moonlighting for Stihl, that looks more like a brush cutter prototype.
  7. I think JP already answered that one earlier. The GPZ was designed for raw depth, so I would not expect the 6000 to beat it on large deep gold. It all depends on how you hunt, I have a loader to push more dirt off if I want to go deeper, so rarely need a 7000. But a super light, spec sniffer would be of great use in helping to work out where to scrape next.
  8. Reading between the lines the 6000 should be perfect for me, I do loads of loaming with detectors looking for reefs. I reckon the main bit of leaked info to listen to is when they said, all gold types, all the time ( or something similar to that). This to me says it’s going to be good on small, queer shaped, prickly, speci bits (all gold) in highly variable mineralised ground (all the time).
  9. I bought an infinium, leave it on the back of the ute and no one bothers to rob you cause they know you got no gold 😂. It wasn’t a bad little detector , but not in the same league as the 4500 I had at the time.
  10. Credit to David for putting the info together, Gold and Ghosts vol 4
  11. Don’t know if you have seen these but may be useful on your hunt. Also most of the granite areas I have prospected on the east coast are mostly fine gold, panning generally gets better results then detecting.
  12. The bars on the screen are power level/sensitivity not depth.
  13. I got this bit about 50 yards away from JPs bit. Pushed about a foot of soil of with loader, then almost 3 foot into the calcrete/cap rock. With the gpx5000 and 16” round NF. Weighed 1.5kg, had 330g of yellow. And a action shot of Paul on the patch with the jackhammer.
  14. Blokes 🤔, pretty sure Krissy is a chick 😂. Great couple they spent several months on my tenements here in WA.
  15. I wouldn’t be getting overly excited about discrimination, it was not mentioned in any of the rumours I have heard. I got the impression Geosense was better ground handling for extreme conditions, which there is a lot of around where I prospect.
  16. I see the release date on the documents has been changed again to 9/2/21 🙁 I’m looking forward to getting one, have never been disappointed with any new Minelab detector and can’t see this one being any different. Edit- after thinking about it I do have a serious dislike for the gpx4000, one dud isn’t a bad strike rate.
  17. I use an app called MapsPlus on my iPhone and Ipad. I import and geo reference in the app so no need for a desktop program with it. Of all the apps I have used I like this one the most, good stability with large imports, can run a large amount of overlays at the same time, and a cheap one of price to access all features.
  18. Gold and beer are the two main currencies where I live, all the shops, tradies etc will take it.
  19. This is why I don’t post any more, can’t have a thread without someone trying to make it about X coils 🙄. It was clearly stated he didn’t want this to be about coils but you blokes just can’t help yourself.
  20. Minelab website clearly states the 14” coil is meant be waterproof, bit rough being a smart ass and telling him told you so for something the machine is meant to do.
  21. Not too deep there, I have detected loads of nuggets around the Tuena/Trunkey area. A friend of mine even panned a 7g piece one day! It’s a great camping and prospecting area 👍
  22. Patches? Wrong type of gold mate. This season was mainly prospecting for xxxx gold, he is getting really good at that 😁. I got him a new jackhammer yesterday, it should liven up the old patches 👍
  23. Paul left enough gear behind to run a tour 🙄, I need to build a bigger shed to put my stuff in.
