Gerry,
I hope you will have a good training session. The very interesting part was that on the Friday when I got up the 2.37g nugget was my first target. After my travels later on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (I needed to see what I was researching) I spent the night in the Eugenes. I didn't find anything there from sun up until 9 AM so I took off for the burn barrel again.
My first target when I got there (near where I found the other nugget but on the other side of the road) was that little nugget.
I started Thursday with Lunk's settings with some adjustment to the sensitivity.  I didn't detect on the training hill but places near and also not on 20. I kept those settings for most of Friday also.
The Monday nugget was found with low smoothing. I was beginning to experiment with Locate Patch on and normal/difficult because there were a couple of places with ground groan. I was willing to let a little more noise get into my headphones as time went on. Maybe I should have done that in Australia as well.
Mitchel
Good to see your on the gold Mitchel, bad to see you still doing the same thing as in Aus, stick to a spot mate and get all the gold instead of wasting time driving around the country!  đđťđ

Sorry, I tried to look it up first, but what is a sun baker?
Gold on the surface, no digging.

First piece for the 25â , 30min after sticking her on the yank tripped over this one, unbelievable the depth ( it was a sun baker ). Â Nice facets imprinted on the gold from the quartz crystals.
It ran really smooth in Normal + DD, RX 16, weight wasnât too bad, I donât usually use a bungie but had to connect it after about 30min.  Probably not great for wandering around with, but a very fine coil for gridding some deep ground.  I only spent about 45min playing around with it because I wanted to go exploring, found a few more bits with the 16â round further away. Â
Im staying in town for a few days doing hydraulic seals on the backhoe, will report back Friday on how the yank is going.

As far as the forum itself and how members rank - how many of you have ever seen the Leaderboard? It measures forum activity and ranks members by number of posts and by number of "Likes" (Reputation).
In the menu under Activity > Leaderboard
Check it out as you can see rankings laid out various ways. Here is the Reputation ranking (most likes)....
.... notice the kiwis are ahead of the Aussies for "likes"Â
Yeh thatâs cause the kiwis have about 3000Â more posts then the Aussies, we spend most of our time digging gold , not typing ?.

Damm that doesnât sound good ?.
So now you need a new lead and a new detector, I wonder who will be coughing up for this ??.Â
-
Geez look at the shit fight mentioning a problem caused ?. You blokes need to spend more time swinging, less typing.
Great to see that Dave came and sorted it out for Steve.  You may need to recommend that not just anyone makes these patch leads if a little too much heat on the soldering iron can wreck the chip or you wonât get much detecting done, running around the country trying to problem solve would  be time consuming.

There is lots of gold on the salt lakes in WA. Â The only combination I have found to work well without driving you insane is a GPX with a coiltek AI coil, I use the 14â round AI. Â It can run beautifully smooth even in normal timings, doesnât like hot rocks but I donât usually get them on lakes anyhow.

Ok, I have been out bush, and out of phone reception for about a week, I can try and work out with Condor somewhere to meet up and try my patch lead on the coil or try another coil on his machine with my patch lead, etc.
That way it will determine what is causing the problem.
regards daveÂ
You might have to meet up pretty close Dave, I donât know how far the old Ute that we got for them will make it ?

Nothing wrong the motherboard as the detector still works fine with the Minelab coil.
I doubt that the multimeter caused the problem because it was not working first, thatâs why we tested it, and we didnât touch the 3 small pins with it.  Thank you for the info Chet.
My thought from the start was that it must be the coil, as the original patch lead was done exactly as per instructions and looked to be a very fine job. Â
We are about 6hrs away from the nearest McDonalds here Mitchel, no electronic stores out this way.
With all the doomsday scenarios you blokes have came up with I am glad to be testing with someone elseâs detector ?
Will give an update once we get to try another coil.

We have had one here for a month now and have been unable to use it ?ââď¸.  Tried the patch cable made by Steve first, zed says coil not connected ?, checked points with a multimeter all seemed correct.  Decided there had to be something wrong with our patch lead so sent it off to the mob in kalgoorlie to make a âproperâ one,  finally got it back and tried again, same problem ?ââď¸
Iâm a bit disappointed as we wanted to run it over some ground on the ugly nugget patch where we have got several multi oz pieces, but the mines department here only let you keep a certain amount of ground open so we are forced to rehabilitate it without getting to test as we need to move areas.  Hopefully Yank 2 can get a replacement before his trip is over so I can try it on some other ground we have.

I have been impressed with the 11â round, the best thing is the adaptor kit which makes the shaft 4â longer, great for tall buggers like me ?
-
Good job on your first week Yank 2,3. Â Initiation period lasts at least a month as Yank 1 knows. Â Got to be sure yous ainât going to end up dead in the bush before you get sent out to do some real exploration ??.

My friend is asking what the restrictions are bringing gold nuggets into the United States from a foreign country? She also wants to know what the taxes might be or if there is a broker fee or any special license? I have no idea and only wish it was something I knew from experience but my nuggets wouldnât draw much notice, however looking online I donât see anything that would be an issue other than possibly normal currency limits and taxes although Iâve no idea how an exact value would be placed on something like natural unrefined gold, or are nuggets treated similar to loose and/or unpolished gem stones?
Sending nuggets in the mail here is fine I send loads. Â They are not counted as gold until refined, until refined they are classified as mineral samples.

Naw JP,,,, Iâve dealt with way scarier stuff than that in my life,,,,,,,
And especially since itâs my friends coil not mine... lololol.Â
But it would be nice to see it pair,,,eh
If you had soldered it I would be worried, but it looks like Steve did a good job, donât know why it wonât work ?ââď¸
Suns up get off the internet and start swinging.

So what is the difference between these coils and the Evoâs? Â

Here you go Mitchel, go find yourself a meteor while you're at it ?
Just landed last night.
Not much point looking for it when they belong to the state, Aussies struggle to get the required permits, no hope in hell of a yank being allowed to take one.

Excellent, Paul!!!
Is this detecting in the wild, working pushes or drywashing/detecting?
If you can tell me; are you around Meeka or the nullagine/marble bar...
inquiring has-been wants to know
fred
Gold is detected from old pushed areas around Meeka. Â Probably going to take the big dry blower out next week to try it out after the recent upgrades. ?

I can see the calluses forming. The only way to treat them is to stop using your pick and leave some gold for the rest of us.
Paul wouldnât know hard work if it smacked him in the face, thatâs my hand ?
