Fields of infinite targets 100+ years old isn't a bad place to be in the middle of.... π€ π -
Beach Hunt 2023 Has Started
rvpopeye replied to schoolofhardNox's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
I see there's a nice storage "trunk" on your new walker there 350 ! π₯Έ I try to keep the car close by but sometimes just leave the iron by the nearest road/path and drive back to collect it all. I like EVH shreds as much as the next guy but yearn for some Slow Hand so I can have a chance to find the elusive "golden pick" !π -
Sometime back in the 80s , Micronta Discovery II ( made by Bounty Hunter). I found a diamond ring with it in deep snow . But the owner told me where to look.π Rekindled interest 4 years ago.

How My Christmas Morning Went!
rvpopeye replied to SwiftSword's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Or that ^ -
Depending on where you are , a small "campfire" or even a hibachi might be a good option. Kinda slows you down but so does the ice. Hot water will probably make things worse ...

How My Christmas Morning Went!
rvpopeye replied to SwiftSword's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
You found some cool stuff ! The child's sword got me thinking (uh oh) , I wonder if self defense was a more serious thing in that time period and children , especially well to do ones , were trained as part of the home team due to whatever marauders were currently a threat ? Fencing has been around a long time also.. -
I think you should expect it to be waterproof .That's why it exists IMO. A little cold country tricks (and I'll probably be in trouble for printing it) when you find something in frozen ground that sounds SOOOOOOO good ! Cover it with a tent or ? and heat the inside, another less prepared one is park a vehicle with the muffler over it and take a coffee break...π₯Έ "I've found you my precious!" or a pull tab π

Geeze Gerry ....wrap up post is all days in one amazing.π€― I hope the trip planner gets a bonus for knowing location location location ! π (I assume you must have taken that detector training course those guys up in Idaho do ,,,, maybe even more than once?)π€ That gold ring is a stunner , even with already seeing it when you first posted the find ! At first I thought "OMG , he found another one ! "π€ And a couple/three to keep it company this time too ! π I'm sure the difference in the finds would go a long way to offsetting the future cost difference of the higher end over the average places ? (I've played the work "vacations" card (for 30 years straight) and the actual tax savings on the deduction is WAY less than that deduction was....) You COULD do it full time , well assuming the trend towards "el cheapo" wedding rings fades out soon.....

Welcome aboard stephent ! Looks like that new 700 has brought you here to the best place to get up to speed on it ! So it must work well. Has it helped you find anything else ? Use the power of all the experience gathered together here in one place ! Posting finds here usually brings comments about them which can reveal previously unknown value as treasure . arrrrrrπ΄ββ οΈ Don't be shy ,ask your questions and good luck out there on the hunt.

welcome to the group gilgsn ! Glad that you found a winner and some beer and that they went well together! Hope whichever detector you chose will be a winner to. It's hard to pick one that isn't these days... Spending some time on the forums here will make that decision easier no doubt. There's a huge amount of detecting info to go over and more posted every day ! There's a Nokta only forum (bet you already found it)! If you want more clues on detecting in general , check out Steve's Guides

New Tones Profile Brings Something Interesting
rvpopeye replied to Skull diver's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Good to hear about gear that works as advertised Skull ! I might have to research those "endless tanks" sounds like the key for the shallows. Better that you got the settings tuned in time for the finds !- 3 replies

rvpopeye replied to schoolofhardNox's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Cold or hot, I wouldn't care . It's all about the dirt. Which,,,i guess always looks better on the other side ? π I would have driven right past you to get away from that cold ! But looks like it's not to be this year...arrrr yer safe for now matey . Actually it hasn't been all that bad ,,,so far. A very Weirdo Winter ,,,again. That reminds me , I need to go out and see if the shovel bounces back or pushes in .... -
R U a player ? I originally picked them up cheap to practice set ups and other luthier skills to make me more valuable on a tour . Plus I was designing the electronics for a builder prototype guitar and a test subject was needed , The high end customs weren't something I felt comfy to possibly messing up the finish . Combined with. My job got easier and I was more in demand when I learned how to put perfume on pigs . (which way too many musicians were on instrument or vocals). So now that I'm retired I figure I can make myself sound better than I am just as easy ! Old Stones , Keith was magic with only 5 and openG maybe a little Thorogood and Gibbons for desert. Mostly just for shits and grins . I'm currently collaborating with a key player writing songs about clams. Real serious stuff πIt's true I tell ya ! I don't sleep with it like some do if that's what you're worried about ... besides there's two of them and I only have a single bunk.π€
