Most are covering which detector. So I'll go with accessories. An old shovel will work to start , yard sales best source unless you already have one. A plastic trowel ~ $5 , an old screwdriver ,,,or both at a yard sale again. You probably already have ear buds or headphones ? A cheap Chinese knock off pin pointer can get you something basic for ~ $25. Upgrade to a Garrett Carrot later... I found a little camera bag for finds at Goodwill /etc. for $2 ! Lots of other bags like that there usually under $5 . Small backpacks $5 for the really good ones ! A plastic bag tied to your belt would work if you're running out of budget$ OH yeah , if you're like a lot of us you can get some "Glasses of Shame" 3.25 readers at a Dollar store for those hard to see dates on coins LOL😉 You already found your best accessory for free, this forum !!!!!!! Ask those questions as the pop up.

Welcome aboard Ruben ! You chose wisely. Which first detector ? No easy answer. Check out Steve's Guides and other places here like the forum classified / for sale section. A few questions to help us help you. 1 What is the maximum $ amount you can spend ? 2 Is weight of the detector an issue ? 3 In your investigations , did you see any type(s) of detecting that you thought you wanted to do? (coins , relics , jewelry.....prospecting) and places (city parks and curb strips , beaches , old houses/buildings , civil war sites , etc) 4 Are there any detecting clubs in your area ? That would be a great place to actually try before you buy . (a good dealer could offer that too.) As a vet , definitely ask about discounts . You earned it and more for offering it all..... Oh , one more thing....There's a slight chance you will become addicted to this , but don't worry you're among a lot of folks that won't point and laugh,,,cuz we is too ! OOOOOH AYUH ! .

A fancy spoon ring and a whole bell is a great hunt , then add the coin.....🍀 Not a bad place to live at all !🤔 Single freq huh ? It sure worked for you !

Excellent wrap up post ! Silver AND gold is a good hunt any day .😳 I'm in a campsite , in the fairground . My junk finds and a memorial dug so far are being cleaned on my back bumper. By all the rain and 40kt wind that I am also in. But power is still on here and I'm using it for the heater even though it's 63* and now I'm looking at the Nox and wondering if I should put on the Grunden's and just do it ! Me crew is already outside sayin' "get out here you Caw Caw Caw Caw" ! Me thinks they might just be complainin' cuz their breakfast was raw raw raw raw ??? Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference...

I'm camping at my local fairgrounds , detected once so far..for about an hour. w/11" nox coil A memorial penny , a big square nail , some small screw in light bulb bases, one screw off bottle cap , a modern round nail and a couple of pieces of mystery junk. Wish I had more time to dig but getting rig ready for ......the "arctic return" of East Coast Alaska mode. I need to return to a spot with the 6" that lit up the machine like a steel deck ! There be history here ,,,gotta find some oooooooooie ! Good Luck on your site !

Good finds pic ! I'm thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea to look for the diamond when finding a ring with a missing stone . Might be just a dream but the odds of finding one would seem to be better next to something missing one ! I got a kiddie beach toy sieve at Dollar (and a quarter) Tree for the trunk. ($1.25 invested) FOR just such occasions !

VL , I didn't laugh ! (I don't have any likes left so...) OK , this isn't funny ! I'm certain those 20's are mine as I have a collection , some are missing and they match up perfectly. All of them were in pristine condition and none of mine had any dirt on them either... they all look like they were just pulled out of a bank envelope. Exactly like those in your pic !

I can't help but wonder if you were at a beach I'm detecting just before I got there.........🤔 And I just wish I could last 9+ hours detecting too ! The world is a much cleaner place wherever you detect without a doubt. Good hunt , once again WTG.👍
