  1. Got this thing today, it's cool but like the butterfly clip it tries to push the coil cover off. ðŸĪŽ It's a little better...
  2. You can get the WS4 headphone adapter right now for the WS6 at colonial metal detectors, got mine for $18 shipped. 🙂 I used PayPal: https://www.colonialmetaldetectors.com/xp-deus-ws4-wireless-headphone-adapter.html
  3. That is an awesome relic. It's civil war era: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2nd_New_York_Mounted_Rifles_Regiment
  4. You're not alone, I was hunting a beach last year and found a small jeweler's anvil. 😀 Bronze diseased IHP for size I have no idea why that would be found in the surf. ðŸĪ”
  5. Probably one of the most interesting posts I've seen! That would be a great thread on its own. 👍
  6. It's really small, has about 6 diamond chips in it. It was part of a larger one that broke off. 🙂 I'll weigh it but I don't think it is even a gram.
  7. Better late than never! 👍I want to use the bone phones sometime for land hunting, turkey season would be a good time. 😀 Just want to know my options. ðŸĪ”
  8. Hey Jeff, Aren't the WS4 Clip Jack Adaptor and Support also for the WS6? It's easier to find them that way, and seems to be the case. 🙂
  9. I like the WS6. Maybe I have the right kind of head 😀 anything that gives me situational awareness is a good thing. Had no problems even at the beach with the roaring surf on a ridiculously windy day. There's something good about that +85db then. Use OnX Hunt. It's a heck of an app. The property lines aren't perfect if you purchase land records of your state, but it's affordable and simple to track and keep pics of your finds, and might keep you out of trouble. I hope someday they will come out with a "Metal" edition 😁
  10. Nice hunt and great detail, GB. 👍 Here id'a mowed the darn place myself, and called the county supervisor asking him why the heck there were signs like that. ðŸĪŽ Glad you got a silver coin, I would have used my Quest pinpointer to casually leave the big nail behind, if I can't see it, I don't feel obligated to take it with me 🙄 😀
  11. 😀 It will always be both, but in different places. That Equinox with the 10x5 is a hot knife through butter as long as there is no interference. It's also much harder to screw up than the Deus, it's more of a grab and go. 👍 I can't really say yet which has more depth. The 10x5 really surprises me.
  12. Those things drove me nuts, that and gum wrappers. 1-8 is dig all, 12-15 also, and honestly anything between 1 and 16, the 16-18s are usually silver, but also sinkers. I got a big thanks from a volunteer group for getting the bottle caps and sharp wire, they really appreciate us. I pretty much talked to anyone that approached me except people that were sarcastic, unlike some people 🙄 all the other detectorists were furtive and secretive. If this were home I'd have got 10 more permissions 😁
  13. Thanks for the vote of confidence! 🙂 Yes, since at least one person is interested 😁 I'll do it when I get home, got a 600 mile 12 hour trip ahead. ðŸĪ” True I guess, the 600 cuts off at 15kHz, it's been useful in campgrounds but was useless here. I had to stay in Beach 1 and lower sensitivity near the pier and hotel. After that I could crank it up. The Deus is quiet nearly everywhere. 🙂
  14. Got out early for one more day. Today I really wanted to find gold, I was glad the tide was with me. Beautiful day today, best one since we got here. Today I brought the Equinox to wrap it up. The tide was really low, almost to the end of the pier. There was no water, just a sheen over the sand. I zigzagged the flats hoping to find anything, this place really gets hit a lot because it is one of Georgia's few beaches. Day before I came to this beach the first time a YouTuber got a gold ring. Got a quarter way out and a couple of pennies, but kept on. Each day I can only hunt 4 or 5 hours. In order to find anything here you have to cover a lot of ground. There were 2 other detectorists out there, I watched them to see where they found stuff, looking for the "lines". I got two quarters in the same hole, really crazy tones but enough 30/31 to dig it. Searched the hotel side for a bit, really didn't find much, so I went over to the other side. Long story short, here's the take, not very much. Only got a dollar in change, a brass bushing, and a piece of broken jewelry with a little sparkle in it in the shape of a "1". They could be diamond chips but they will be hard to test. It could be a gold setting, it ID'd about 5-7. One of the other guys detecting said he found next to nothing, I probably did a bit better, but I bid goodbye to this beach for another year. 🙂 Trash was minimal, I don't get much with the Equinox. However, would I bring the Equinox to this beach again? The answer is no. There was so much EMI near the pier and in front of the hotel I couldn't even find a single frequency that worked without lowering sensitivity to 20. Ended up running Beach 1 most of the time, and had to keep noise cancelling. I found I could raise sensitivity a bit when I was far away from the pier. The Deus was so quiet out here it will be the obvious choice around hotels. The Equinox located stuff as deep as the Deus, but the noise was horrendous. I did pretty well here but it's no campground. 😀
  15. One more day, we're out of here tomorrow. Got one more wrap-up post. 😁 Can't wait to get back home to the relics, got a new permission with a cool story if the landowner will let me divulge any of it. Otherwise I still expect to post some cool stuff. 😀 No one has ever approached this guy, he is really a generous person. Big farm. Big house.
  16. No doubt, and the better forged, the more it will false. 🙂 I was finding terms of what I called "field oysters", they were plow tines, they look like an oyster shell. Depending on its size yours could be part of a field slitter of some sort. Look like it has a bolt or pin on the widest end, a replaceable part.
  17. Most likely under all that junk you dug! 👍 Good one. I've got places like that. 🙂
  18. Did you find it in a field? I found lots of big iron in the farms I hunt until I learned to "tune it out". 👍 Hard to speculate without something to compare its size to. Location context helps too. By tune it out I mean ignoring iron tones, and sometimes you have a setting that helps. Falsing stuff takes time to recognize but you almost never get away without digging some. 🙂 And of course sometimes you might want a particular iron relic. 😀
  19. Hope it was imported sand. 😀 The bullets were about 6-8" deep in sand 3 feet below high tide. When I went back that way I noticed the YouTuber dug a couple. Guess I'm an amateur but I think it's good to speak to people. If I find something in front of them I tell them they brought me luck. I excuse myself for blocking their view. Gotta always watch what they're doing, had to stop and wait for some bridesmaids taking selfies. 😅
  20. Add me to the club please! 😀 My experiences with the D2 are almost identical. At first I dug a lot of junk until I got used to those scratchy tones... The light weight and ergo make it a joy to use. On the beach that bottle cap reject (it may be different in v0.7) is a lifesaver. It kills on coins and silver, but it's weird with aluminum bottle caps. I can get past most of the pull tabs now but getting a 91 for anything other than a coin is just... Wrong. 😁 Oh well, the Equinox does similar stuff. I think with some creative notching that I can't do on the Equinox I can get rid of most tabs and still get nickels. It's been fun spending a long time every day at the beach, valuable experience. With the Equinox my junk tally is a lot lower, but will improve over time with the Deus. Excellent post!
  21. Thanks! Honestly after 8 days of this I'll be ready to get back to the relics. 😀 Got one more day. I'm sure I'll get gold eventually!
  22. Hit the beach again today, sorry @Valens Legacy, I took the Deus 2 again. I had a chat with my mentor last night and wanted to try some tweaks. Got out early, nobody there, blah blah. 😀 It wasn't a great morning, but it wasn't too windy either. This is the other side of the pier toward the two hotels. I hunted that side for a couple of hours, really didn't find much but a few pennies and a couple of bullets. Don't know how they got there, they were all .30 caliber and in the same place. I dug two and quit. One thing I've observed is hotel beach is a bit different than general parking beach. ðŸĪ” I found more snack junk and foil and bottle caps at the hotel beach. Went back on the other side of the pier and did a little better. I wasn't using salt sensitivity right, I thought turning it down made it less sensitive, apparently it's the opposite. ðŸĪŠ Cranked it up to 9 and got busy. After the first rusty bottle cap I also cranked bottle cap reject to 5. It seemed like I was hitting better targets, but I also got curious and dug odd signals. The trash is kinda wild: I sight picked almost all of the bottle caps, but those huge beer jug caps are a 91. ðŸ˜ĩ The yellow box is a Mario Brothers Coin candy box, it was such a strange tone I had to dig it. Still had the candy wrapped up in it. The two big bullets are under the sinker, and that's a really old copper ship spike. I would have hated to be on the beach when someone fired all that ammo there! Maybe it was from a replenishment place that is a rifle range. ðŸĪ” Got some more ship copper, very common on these beaches, and the usual stuff. Beach take today: $1.63 in clad and Zincolns, most of it seemed like fresh drops. Two earrings, both .925 silver with stones, a worthless American Eagle snap, and a Saint Anthony medal. Saint Anthony is ironically patron saint for the recovery of lost items 🙄 it's aluminum. I was glad to get more silver, one of the earrings is again gold plated: But clearly says 925 on the stud. The other was a shocker, got this unrecognizable loop of crud when I dug it, but it's silver with stones and you can only put it on one way to make them all show. Women have it rough 😀 It's really ratty but clearly says 925 again. Must have been there for a long time. Most interesting thing was the arrival of a somewhat notable YouTuber when I was about done. I guess detectorists are a competitive lot, none of the three I saw today really wanted to talk or have me in their spot. 😁 Despite them I did okay. Hope they found something!
  23. Well it is gold plated... 🙄 Now I know the meaning of the pink sign, it takes a cunning linguist to figure that one out. 👍 Thanks GB
  24. The bottle cap filter effectively "breaks up" the good tones produced over a bottle cap, kind of an iron balance.. It's a good feature they added with this last release. Just have to be careful with newer releases I haven't installed. I'll try that though with one of the sighted ones tomorrow. 👍 With the Equinox you just push F2 iron balance up a bit, to full on the 600. It works great but I'm always worried I'll miss small gold.
