Your beach camping hunts make me homesick.๐Ÿ˜Ž

But the fairgrounds are a lot cheaper.ย ๐Ÿ™„

    I haven't been to a beach in I forget how long ย !

Everything about that trip looked good to me .ย

I wouldn't complain even a little bit about your recoveries..๐Ÿ‘

    Thanks RVP,

This place was surprisingly cheap for a 9-day stay. We got there 2 days after spring break ended ๐Ÿ˜… Heard it was a nightmare. Despite excessive prices for fuel, the park was only $60 a night. It's the largest campground on the East Coast. It has everything you could imagine and more, and is pretty quiet before Memorial Day.ย

My wife and I like to hit someplace with palm trees and sunshine in April, been doing it every year for the last 15 or so. We used to go to Tybee Island, but kinda wore the place out. This was an 8 hour drive as opposed to 12, and a heck of a lot more friendly, with much more going on. Easy to get in and out with my huge RV.

It was certainly a blast for me, and my wife enjoyed it too, she even told me to go out detecting when she was tired of going out.

I've definitely done better on a camping trip but at least got a bit of just about everything. It was fun talking to other detectorists, I usually don't meet as many as I did there, and did way better than them as far as I know ๐Ÿ™‚

I was really pleased with my Deus 2 program, and will be trying others in future exploits.ย

  2. Last spring Chase and I were detecting a field, and I walked down into a ravine to see what was there. Kept hearing this humming sound and wondered where it was coming from. Looked around and I was smack in the middle of a swarm of honeybees buzzing around some low flowering weeds.

How I got out of there without getting stung is a mystery, guess they were busy ๐Ÿ˜…

  3. Yep, did that months ago, created a WS6 Master rig with the original Deus shaft, and put the remote on SteveG's fabulous CF Deus 2 shaft. ๐Ÿ˜€ Got the 13" and remote on the CF, and the 9" on the original. Even made it so I can dunk the 9" up to a few inches below the puck holder with a piece of coax. ๐Ÿ‘ย

I have 2 pairs of WSA II headphones, one for each. I'll use the bone phones with the remote occasionally.

  4. I've used the 13" in the water with a SteveG shaft, and it's slow motion and it works ok, but it would tend to flop without a centering device. I would much rather use the 9" or have an elliptical option as well.

Not a water hunting fan overall. Feel like I'm on a planet with a heavy atmosphere. ๐Ÿ˜€ However, that is where the good stuff is. At least the 9" will make recovery quicker.

Thanks for your response! I've ordered a new headset (brand new), so we'll see if that works. My Skullcandy earbuds pair fine, so I assume it may well be the "reconditioned" headset that's the problem. I'll update tomorrowย

    ย

    Thanks!ย

Cool, hope you can get a refund for the others. You know those earbuds won't work right even though they pair?

Do another system reset on the Equinox, turn it on after the reset, press the WiFi/Bluetooth button, wait for the WiFi icon is replaced by the Bluetooth, then turn on the headphones , hang them on the detector and go do something for about 2-5 minutes. ๐Ÿ™‚

Should work. When you get back they will be paired.

That was a great report and photos, F350! It looks awesome there and you got a ton of finds and you got rings, jewelry (congrats on the tiny chain, BTW), toys, an iPhone, bunch of coins, and a very cool buckle, and you cleaned a lot of dangerous metal of the beach, well done!

It looks so nice there, I've got to make it to a beach this year! Did you get to hunt the campground too? I'm glad you had a great time and had a full pouch to boot!ย ๐Ÿ˜Ž

    Thanks Cap'n!

I fail to see any difficulty in finding anything on the beach with the Deus 2, as long as it's set with little to no discrimination. I did not go far into the water, so I don't know about deep water performance, but it sure hit stuff in the wash. I got some really tiny bits of stuff too that gave great signals.

I did notice what @midalakeย has been mentioning, that you will get tones and no or infrequent ID. If the tones were high for the most part, it might even be a quarter or dime a foot down. If all low it was mostly iron. Interestingly when I got a tone that was consistently ~5-10 or more, it was junk jewelry.

The campground was totally open season, they would even let you hunt empty sites and all the tot lots. I saw people detecting their own sites. All they asked is not to disturb any occupied areas except the beach. I made sure to visit the "compliance officer", the park was way too big to speak to the General Manager.

Being spring, it wasn't as good as I would have hoped, but yeah, I'm pretty sure I did a lot better than the others the way they were complaining ๐Ÿ˜

BTW the 13" is totally awesome. ๐Ÿ‘ I almost always got my good targets digging straight down. Aluminum tended to be on the side a bit sometimes, but at this point I wouldn't use anything else in the dry and wet, might go to the 9" in the wash and surf for somewhat faster retrieval.

  8. Hey Yazman,

I'm thinking of a couple reasons why you might be having trouble. Since I'm one of the people who recommend these, I'll give you my off-the-cuff thoughts:

First is you probably should consider buying the new product rather than a refurbished one. The reason the headphones are refurbished may well be because they didn't work right in the first place. It's nice to save money but we're talking a need for a bit of reliability here.

Second, make sure Bluetooth is turned off on your phone, or at least not present within 30-50 feet while you do the pairing process. Better to just turn it off temporarily. I also have a smart TV that interferes when I try to pair stuff, so I go elsewhere.

HTH. i have two sets of these headphones and have not had a problem other than described. ๐Ÿ™‚

Excellent report soldier!ย  You put a lot of effort into both the hunt and the report.ย  A salute to you sir!!ย  ๐Ÿ‘

    Thanks Colonel,

No need to salute or call me sir, I used to work for a living ๐Ÿคฃ

There was a lot more to tell, even a "ring finder" with an Excalibur waving his coil 6" to a foot above the wet sand. Met some really nice folks tho.

One detectorist complained to me that he wasn't finding anything, asked me if the beach was hunted out. I told him very nicely that holding his coil as high as he did and swinging up at the ends of each swing was the reason, he graciously thanked me for my advice, and went right back to swinging wrong. ๐Ÿ˜ต

Wanted to try some new stuff (programs) but RV issues and constant weather changes kept me busy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sounds like it was a nice week of fun in the sun. You got a lot of clad, so if there was a ring to be found, you would have found it. Don't forget to check that '72 cent for double die. Sharks are my favorite ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks, the kid was running so it was hard to get the cell phone trained on him ๐Ÿ˜

Finding the small jewelry fairly deep told me if there was a gold ring it would have shown up unless it was very thin. I thought of you digging deep a few times while I was scooping those holes. ๐Ÿ˜€

Yikes, tossed all the change into my clad jar, I'll try to dig it out and take a look. ๐Ÿคช

Are you sure those pull tabs aren't silver? That AAA battery and the blue pull tab are especially nice!!! What did that plastic barrette ring up as on the D2?ย ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ย Glad you got away and dodged my aluminum curse HaHa. Oh and just for reference was the crab a low conductor or a high?ย  Remember finding is fun, Not sucks. Great post as usual my friend!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks man,

Haha, think I told ya that right after the rain the pull tabs were ID'ing in the 80s. ๐Ÿคฌ They might as well be silver!

The crab was almost low conducting panini toast as I almost stepped on it after poking it with the coil ๐Ÿคฃ thankfully it moved.

I had a total blast, talking to people and making sure the other detectorists kept complaining. Every evening a couple of old guys came out swinging their detectors 6" above the dry, and I still hit a coin spill with about 8 coins of every denomination.

What I was thrilled about was the D2 hit that thin tiny chain with a solid signal, a low conductor.

I'd have used the barrette on Sammy if he was a female, Maltese dogs have to deal with that all the time. ๐Ÿคฃ

Great write up and pics. I'm sure you still had a great time regardless of the hunting. Looks very sanded in and spongy. But my guess is you will try the hotel area next time. Of course the 1st thing I looked at was the gal wearing the watch. Didn't notice a ring though. Lol

    Thanks KOB!

Talked to a detectorist who went up to the hotel strip, he said people were detecting all over, it cost $30 to park, and because of the time of year it was dangerous to be out there, few tourists and little security. He found some bling, but no gold.

The beach was replenished within the last couple years, so the deeper green coins were a clue.

Where I was you had to go in the water for the really good stuff. There was a trough out there that should have had some great finds. Maybe I'll try it next year.

  13. I run my antenna wire under the WS6 through the bottom hole in the WS4/WS6 accessory holder. I do not submerge the WS6, but can immerse it almost to the holder. Make sure to strip the coax at both ends to the proper length and shrink wrap both ends. In my case I did not shrink wrap the end that goes to the WS6.

  14. That's a real honor to be digging those buttons, congrats! Despite my area being settled very early, it was very much a farming community and I wouldn't be surprised if all hands had to be on deck at the farm so to speak.

Your unknown button seems to have scrolls and tools on it, maybe a later quartermaster or historian? ๐Ÿค”
