Nice, Those dollar coins are always good to see. I wish they'd have caught on better than they did.

I let both my deus and orx go because of interference in my area. Some days it wasn't so bad and some days nothing worked other than dialing it back and getting sub par performance.
You gotta wonder if all the wireless functions and separate power sources(batteries) are opening the door for more interference?

In the second photo, it does look like it has been altered.

Interesting? I didn't realize that they ran on such a low freq.

She does make a few good points. Most of us forum rats understand the setting up for the sites to be hunted like the iron bias adjustments among other things. I know a lot of detectorist that run mostly in stock programs with even the higher end detectors. Truth is, if most did start messing with the settings, they could make it worse and not understand why.

I can't believe how many LC's and colonial coppers you east coast guys get ! Sickening. We get reales here in CA, but rarely ever a large cent. Heck, it's more likely to get gold coins here before you get a large cent.
Alright, I'll step up and trade you some crunchy coppers for some of them yucky gold coins.
On the cleaning, if they're toasted coming out of the soil they only seem to get worse with any cleaning I've tried.

Looks like you had a great day. Nugget hunting is on my list of things to do someday. As for the cows, that's what hamburger buns are for.

Mh, I'm bouncing that idea around. I've been watching for one that has already been s shaft modded. I've got a couple of vanquishes for now and they work great on grass here for me coin/jewelry hunting. But in my plowed field hunting, the eq worked a lot better for me except for the ergonomics.

Did it seem to help? I've got a pile of them also and have tried the olive oil, mineral oil and hot peroxide baths and it seems that how they look coming out of the ground is how well they clean up. Some look great, some look poopie.

One thing I ponder is why is the trend going to a straight shaft. Now I understand that some like it but I see a lot of post where that seems to be a big comfort issue, me included. I sold my eq because I could only swing it for so long before it gave me arm problems.

The stories are true! Hate to show my age but in the late 70s and into the 80s, it was a normal day to bring home a handful of silver. My gto glovebox was full of Indian heads and Wheaties till it couldn't hold any more and I'd have to clean it out. I hate to think of all the gold I didn't dig. I'd have to think since there wasn't as much aluminum trash back then, the gold ratio would've been higher.

I would love to see Garrett iron out the apex platform as there is a lot to like about it now. It needs a few performance tweaks but I hope this is the beginning for multi flex. I would love to support an American manufacturer that has good customer service.

That looks like a lot of work. Interesting results though. Now you've got me wondering about silver coins?

One of my concerns is, and has always been with the deus/orx platform (and yes I have owned both) is I'm not sold on the total wireless system. Sure, there is emi that is seen/heard but what about unseen emi? I don't like the antenna wrap but I get it. Seems a lot of open doors. I agree with the screen setup and it wouldn't surprise me if xp brings an update to rectify.
The weight/ergo is light years above the eq IMO. That said, I'm gonna let them get some more airtime before I go all in on one. Good review op.

Makes perfect sense, I was told by my hunting buddies years ago when I got a shadow5 that I wouldn't dig any deep silver due to the troy freq. I believe it was 18-19khz? But I did, and on a regular basis.
But even Troy said it was geared more to relic hunters so that didn't help matters.

Am I jealous? No, not really, maybe a little. OK yes, yes i am. Nice finds.

Capt, IMO the vanquish far outperforms the apex in the scenarios you're going to hunt. Depth here in my mild soil the v was a clear winner. The apex is solidly built but for me that was the only advantage.

Orx Performing Well

It is a simple performer. Can get deep when needed. I'm glad I went with the x35 coil. I look at it as a tone id machine overall, which is a good thing. My only gripe is the lack of a depth meter on the main screen but the modulation audio is pretty reliable.
