Nice-People Story, And A Question
chickenminer replied to spencer@wy's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Spencer... sounds like quite a 'boss' to me. I would think if you wanted to show him HOW MUCH you guys appreciated his kindness, that you would invite him to your claim and/or tag along on a prospecting trip or two. -
Go here for a giggle and to quench your curiosity.. http://www.chickenalaska.com/history.html There are other versions but if you can't have fun with it .... what's the point

Tom, I sell a limited amount of paydirt only because my customers keep asking me to. I don't make money on it and frankly it's a pain in the butt to do so. How's that for a sales pitch!

Pay attention class. This will be on the test later !! Barry, that should have been in BOLD.

Detecting Coins & Relics On Mining Claims
chickenminer replied to deathray's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Barry, I'm assuming you are speaking of this in context to do with metal detecting. Otherwise I have an issue with your statement. I may be splitting hairs here but they sure misuse interpretation and intent of those laws, rules and regulations with policy. Real life ! -

Hunting Specimen Gold In Nevada With The SDC
chickenminer replied to Reno Chris's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Bob, I found this with my old eyeballs. Sitting on the side of an old dozer cut from back in the 50's. Haven't been able to pick up anything with the Bug! Yup, it's calcite. -
Hunting Specimen Gold In Nevada With The SDC
chickenminer replied to Reno Chris's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Steve & Chris ... This is a great thread! Want your opinion on what the SDC 2300 would do on samples like mine below. This sample came off that bench I was working on when you guys came to visit. Old reports mention finding samples in calcite stringers in the same area. Picked this up near to a marble type bedrock in close contact to a serpentinite. I have been trying to find where this came from with my Gold Bug II. -
Never owned a Honda, but I have put tens of thousands of miles on 4 wheelers. Owned Kawasaki, Yamaha, Arctic Cat and Suzuki. Hands down the most durable, reliable and comfortable I have ever owned were Suzukis ! I had one King Quad with 40,000 miles before I sold it for parts. Currently have another with almost 11,000 miles. Plus an Arctic Cat 400 with 9,000 miles. The worse machine for maintenance/repair was the Kawasaki. Close behind was the Yamaha Grizzly! I think there are a lot of good machines out now, but the above is my personal observation. Take it for what it is worth to ya. Good luck in your choice.

Quad For Reaching Remote Locations
chickenminer replied to Reno Chris's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
We bought a couple Suzuki King Quads back in the 90's. I finally had to replace mine after 40,000 miles of hard use. Never did a single repair to the engine. Just normal maintenance to the machine like brakes, U-joints and wheel bearings. My wife's has 10,000 miles and still going strong. Had a Yamaha Grizzly 600 briefly. I couldn't get rid of that one fast enough! I currently have an Arctic Cat. At 9,500 miles it has required far more repair work than I have ever done on both Suzukis! I won't be buying another one. Just my experience. -
Dave, Great job! Very nice finds. What was the total weight of your 16 nuggets, if you don't mind saying. Also, did you find them mostly in the "pushes" area or out on your own ? One of these years I gotta get up to Nome area, just to check out all the gold districts.

Steve's 2014 Alaska Gold Adventure
chickenminer replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Great way to end your Fortymile adventure! Rained most of the day again here. I'm not complaining though, good for me up on the bench. Be safe on your trip south and I'm sure we'll bump in to each other again one of these days. May even be in the desert somewhere !
