deathray replied to Condor's topic in Gold Panning, Sluicing, Dredging, Drywashing, Etc
Yeah woody, I dropped a pistol ball on the serpentine, and could barely pick it up on gb pro. -
I guess mxt. We always stayed at Robinsons glat before, but they picked french meadows this year to be closer to the areas we all head to .

Arduous Adventure Part II
deathray replied to Condor's topic in Gold Panning, Sluicing, Dredging, Drywashing, Etc
Woody , a group of us went down a few years back, and my buddy Paul got a pretty one, couple pennyweights. He was using gpx,but it was on top. Was on the cover of mining journal (one of Dons trips). Im usually detecting for other stuff, but ground is very hot in those serpentine areas, and tons of tradh targets. -
Oops, your right, put wrong lake. Thanks Cabela!

Theres usually a group of us adventurers that group together, yall probably know some of them (Don Robinson, couple others)and hike into some canyons or diggins. Ive actually found some of my biggest pieces on these trips. Hope to see/meet some of ya!Ray

Honest to God Condor, you truly have my upmost respect. For those that dont know, the green valley trails (theres one on each side of the canyon) descend (or ascend, lol)over 1000 feet per mile. Ive only hiked it carrying vlf, food n water. But, down and back in a day, every time my legs cramp like a mofo....and Im in my late 40s, not 61, plus I roof all day, almost every day. So what Im trying to convey, YOU are a badass sir! Btw, did you pull out at the hotel site on the Alta side? If so, was there an anvil sitting on the wall? We dug it, was going to put it next to Joe Stieners grave, but to dang heavy. -
Theres no relic hunters on this forum anyway, lol.

Ok...yeah seemed a little strange, and sorry, but dont just outright trust an archie on a detecting forum. Probably fishing to bust someone .

Are you planning on using it foe relics Cindy??

Falcon Md20 Detector Info
deathray replied to spencer@wy's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I have a buddy who uses one. He goes to an area that detecting is becoming frowned upon. He checks quartz, and usually brings home 8-10 pieces, which he eventually crushes and smelts into buttons. Last time I was at his house, he had about 10 chunks of Quartz...only one had visible gold, and I could get a hit with my gb pro on only 2...falcons are very sensitive. -
Pretty sure youll get plenty of hits, if you google "American River nugget,or lump" lol. That is a good idea Californiagold, just couldnt help get a chuckle ....since the gold rush started on the American. At least he can narrow it to the middle fork. Thats a good area your in, but vlf country in sll that iton trash. Try any hillsides that are doable. Lots of hydro pits nearby.

So sorry to hear that buddy. That sure is a tough one to deal with.

Will do!
