  1. Chuck, It's called marketing. Auto manufacturers, iPhone, etc. all do it. Look, it's got us all salivating and drooling...so it's working. Hold your horses...it will be here soon. Very soon I hope! Dean
  2. Like Steve said..."I'll be getting one of these"! Waterproof and a 40kHz option. This is what I (we) had hoped for with the Impact. Looks like Minelab has been listening and took action. Good job Minelab! Time to sell some machines!! Dean
  3. I'm with you, Luke...I'm not a fan of nuggets cleaned with the acid bath method. They look like museum pieces to me. I like getting the dirt off of them without changing the " out of the ground character". Thanks for sharing your method. I'll give it a try. Dean
  4. A number of people were killed earlier this summer here in Central Az. due to flash flooding. Horrible tragedy. Yes, be careful! Dean
  5. I would have to agree with Nenad and Mike. I've used the Impact with the small coil searching for nuggets in AZ and I am very happy with it's performance. Very stable in Gen mode. A very capable VLF for nugget shooting. Dean
  6. Nice fat nug, Lunk! Two for the price of one. Can't beat that. Dean
  7. Hey Jen, I'm surprised at how well the DD in cancel works under the power lines . Definitely worth a go. The 15" Detech coil that you pictured is awesome though it will require a bungee. Very sensitive for a large DD. I found sub gram nugs at good depth at the Q with it last season. I then decided to detect some power lines in my area that most everyone else had avoided. I got the 8" Detech DD from Rege-PA ( Detech rep, forum member, provides excellent service) and was very impressed at how sensitive this coil is...even in cancel!! I nailed a few very small sub gram nugs with it at respectable depth. Detech coils truly are an advancement in DD technology. Dean
  8. Ray, You may have already tried this but the Widows have that " by pass" switch that when in the "by pass" mode will let the external detector speaker work as well. Check the switch position. Dean
  9. Excellent write up, Steve! I love cruising for new patches in less explored areas. Good looking gold, too! I like Robs suggestion...50/50. Can't wait until it cools down. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Dean
  10. I really like the Targhee as well but went through them in one year. They have two different materials that make up the sole. The dark material separated from the light in the first two months from boot scraping over targets so I glued it back on. Came apart a short time later so I just cut it off. Last trip to the Q the right boot came apart at the seams. They were very comfortable and I would buy them again with the knowledge that they will only last a year but my feet will be happy. That being said, I just ordered a pair of Reebok Krios ...no metal, water proof, and light...with the hope that they will last longer than the Keens. Dean
  11. Great story! Those are times with your son are more precious than anything! The SDC is an amazing machine for sure. Have fun! Dean
  12. Wow! Beautiful chunk!! Makes my typical -"eight nuggets for one/ two gram -days" seem very insignificant. Dean
  13. Wow! That is some beautiful gold! I wasn't able to hit GB last week but will get a chance soon. Thanks for the pics, Rege! Dean
  14. Thanks guys! I appreciate the responses. I will give it a try in GB next week but will take along my monos as well. Dean
  15. Has anybody tried the Detech 15" DD Ultimate in the SW US like Gold Basin, Quartzite or Nevada? I recently purchased one because I didn't have a DD coil and wanted to have one in the coil arsenal. I've used it a couple of times in Central Arizona just to give it a test run and I am impressed with it's sensitivity and depth on small targets...that's all there is here...haven't got it over any large/deep targets yet. Neenad Lonic has done a few videos featuring this coil with very positive results (great videos, as usual, from Neenad). I haven't heard anything from anybody, though, using this coil here in the desert southwest. Not many use DDs with their GPXs I realize, but this DD seems to be a leap forward in DD technology. How about it? Anybody used one here in the SW? Thanks! Dean
  16. You will love the 4500! Excellent gold machine. The Gold Racer is a good VLF for gold but like all VLFs it is best used as a specialised tool to hunt trashy areas where a PI struggles ( read: you get tired of digging trash and need some discrimination) or for crumbing in the shallow bed rock crevasse's for tiny gold that a PI won't see. Good combo. I really like the new Evo coils on my 4500. The 14x9 is very sensitive and gives good coverage while the 12" round is a bit deeper and easy to swing. Good luck! I think you made a great decision!!! Dean
  17. Yep, Thank you for all of your effort on your great vids Neenad! Keep em coming!! Dean
  18. Thanks Reg! I'll be looking to get one. What is the price of that coil? Dean
