  1. Steve, Thanks-been wondering when i get around to upgrading from the ole sd2100 if extra coils would have to go too. I asked abt 17000 because i was thinking of making some used detectors available at local atlantic city/south-pass city days -maybe work toward that z.
  2. Lunk, That is just incredible! Hope that patch provides more surprises for you. With all of you z-men out there cleaning up those patches thought worked out, and still pullin it out, i am quiclky coming to the conclusion that this will be my targeted machine, gonna have to start findin some shiny stuff. By my estimation you should be close to 15% cost of detector already, impressive. Great stuff, thanks for sharing.
  3. Quick question guys, Do all the coils on these machines interchange? Also how good is xt17000 model?
  4. Kenny, That is a cool find. I like the running outta places for it to be-i think that working the problem from that angle is often under-valued tool. May your next find take a polish like a mirror.
  5. Good info Ken-thanks for sharing. If bit-remember to keep heart rate low as you can to prevent rapid spreading. Little guys dont know when to stop, so they pump more than needed into victim also heard little guy might have little more potentcy but dont know. I think the winters keep em smaller up here, biggest i ve seen has only been little over 4 ft. You guys down south get some big ones. Only had two(that i was able to see) that didnt rattle(sleepin?) Like i said, i ve been lucky in the ole sandals... better find that snake bite kit though and see if still good. thanks again for info Ken.
  6. Tough??dunno bout that, perhaps. Luckily, no poison- oak to deal with but might find some stinging-nettle once in a while. Seriously though, i have been lucky-done it for long time now, i even build (carpenter) in my sandals. Will definately don the boots in shafts and tunnels though. Still grinnin-thanks again.
  7. Jason, Sorry abt your back, mine sounds similar- on about a quarterly interval im down for few days..feeling 80 not 40,but old chiropractor knows it well and four easy days later i m rebiult. I really appreciate the break-down of info on your z-time, practical and informative. When you gonna be back to CYCLONE city? Maybe we could have a cold one and a conversation, l would enjoy meeting you in person. Well no bending, lifting, or twisting and you should be out there in no time. Fast-healing to ya.
  8. Rofl...... ( rooling on the floor laughing). Thanks- dont mean to sound cruel, but i have been there(complete w/ jumpin, runnin, & poopin) ha ha... still got shit eating grin on my face. It sure is disconcerting sound and bad thing for me cause i tend to wear sandals everywhere in summer. Had little fella 17-18" er stay way to quiet till last second last year. Made me ponder on my sandals a while. Thanks for posting-was good medicine.
  9. Not trying to push any particular brand but that zagg brand protector i put on i have drug across rocks on my phone and its like it heals itself. i think it was twenty dollars almost but worth evy penny to me.
  10. Kudos to you Russ, thats starting to look like a garden. so i have to ask, how many hours of detecting is that with your z? All this gpz gold - so what does a person get for a kidney nowdays???? All in heavily hunted spots, thats got to feel good at the end of the day. Thanks for the fix. Enjoy.
  11. Nice Fred, very nice. new finds, new friends and good workouts, ahh... life is good. you guys are making me jones bad. seems that i better get to the spots before you gpzers or be left without. btw- your not the only one with that kind of luck, my fors gold has developed issue after its third voyage out. gmt came to rescue (first time out with it) might have found micro gold in little pebble. (have to start somewhere right) thanks for sharing, hope they keep findin you.
  12. Someday.....that is righteous, 41grams. i would be a ruined man- pitch my tent and die of hunger.. ha. ha.. sounds like the good life down-under. May your new spot prove fruitful.
  13. Fred, i had same issue w/ my fors gold-kept tipping on its side. put on a zagg super tough protector i use on screened devices. offers superb protection imho. good to see its common practice as i did it after trip two. you would think for ten grand minelab would cough up some shwagg like that, good practical inexpensive perks. i love how this sight is such a resource of practical info, just awesome. Happy swingin.
  14. Deathray, thats frickin awesome, keeps me exited about this hobby to see those finds. did you really pop it in your mouth? Arent you worried abt. mercury? Anyhoww.. nice find made nicer with a new machine. thanks for sharing, best o luck.
  15. Looks like a beautiful place to be. Your last outing sounded little like my previous one, minus the gold. Soon i hope, very soon. i think i will have to look at some out of state adventures, later this year perhaps. If lead were gold i d be doing alright. take care.

  17. Roads were pretty good (i was in my 3000 gt, i didnt catch up with my bro who had truck) i drove down couple miles past rock creek hollow then drove back up by miners delight and was able to get about three miles around the hill there. it was at this point-going down hill that i came to. fully drifted over road. it was only about 6" deep but hard packed most places, but not worth risk in the car and conditions as such.
  18. I can get in to the area, some of the deeper spots and those with plenty of vegetation still have snow. i was out saturday to buddys claim on creek bottom, heavily willowed, still plenty of snow in willows. i broke my little shovel about half way through, yes the frost is still here in spots too. must have been a sight to see- me, trying to dig up these targets with this short piece of handle. ended of soaked to the sack, my old dog missy wanders out on this ice thats to thin , falls thru-and shes dead ass tired at this point-so i proceed to get her out. that water couldnt have been but couple degrees above freezing, dumbed my boots out, tried no to cry like a girl and good to moving. still a good day. if the weather holds it should be good to go in about week and half most everywhere up there.
  19. Jason, looks like your new detector is off to a good start. thats a sweet find, i look forward to the day i pull one out like that. all the better you were filming your session. I t gives us newbies a little exitment, makes me itch to be out. may the rest of your vacation be as bountiful.
  20. Russ, that is cool. i wonder what the statistical odds are on that? I take that as a good sign for you. thanks for sharing, luck with the others.
  21. Fully intend to have ducks in a row, wouldnt do any place i m not sure of. i know a fella, his assoc. has 880 acres claimed at dickie springs and depending on alcohol content could have been that crazy sob. lol. All of the people i ve ran in to up there have been nice people, let me amatuer prospect on their claims or otherwise just been friendly. it has calmed down i think from when you guys were here. also been alot of abandoned claims past couple years. the state really has closed or restricted most of the better prospecting spots. i still however believe that there should be a couple nuggetts out there to b had by someone. your right about weights, should have been .1-.2 pwt i think. i havent wieghed them yet. i really havent had time uet to familiarize myself with the machines either. Maybe i can sneak out this week for another run. great hearing from all of you. knowing what you know now would you at the start of your pusuit have bought best machine you could afford if you intended to put yourself where the gold has been found?
  22. Jasong, surprised me as well. gonna check with buddy to verify access to tailings and associated area on rock creek. my buddy- retired w/ 3 claims in gen area, been teaching and helping me learn ropes. Nearly all of rock creek is claimed or private. Ive been at other areas as of yet, just barely acessable last week. I need to take the time this week to get all my ownership/acessability issues figured out. maybe could plan field trip day. as none of us really experienced like to have several people w/ several machines out there. Btw: perhaps i was wrong in 1-2 pwt my little test piece is about dia. match stick 2x long. sub-grain, 11 or 18 mono didnt register that small amt at coil with sd. All others good to 1-2" distant with tiny nugget.? thanks for the welcomes. Look forward to hearing and sharing stories.
  23. Beatup, i ve probably got it on closer to 1/8 or 5/32nds. was thinking about getting piece of large belt sand paper and thinning her down, i probly added 1/2 lb to the damn thing. my buddy has access to 4.5 miles of rock creek and detecting can be had for 50/50 split if memory serves me correctly. i was thinkin bout seeing if we could scrape short distance of piles to a workable(with detector) thickness. Any thoughts?
  24. Brief intro-just starting out, located in central wy. near atlantic city/south pass area. Main focus is gold prospecting. purchased nokta fors gold pro package-kelly co, used gm v/sat-neighbor, a gmt-ebay, and an sd2100 through jim garlock. Dad just purchased gold bug 2 two coil package and mom got gm v/sat as well. Yesterday was fourth trip out, i use my nokta as primary machine. no gold yet but bullets, nails, tacks, tabs etc. Down to 8" on some targets. Have tested all machines with 1-2 pwt nugget at 1-2" with all showing similar results but the sd2100. How big should piece should 11" coil see @ 1"? How bout ole 18" mono coil? Lou got alot of use out of old sd, had to apply coat of resin to 18" coil. Does anyone know if to much resin re-coat(thickness) would hinder coil performance? I look forward to all the info i will recieve, the people i will encounter and the education i will gain from all. thanks and good hunting. any questions?
