  1. took me 6 months of detecting once a weekend before I finally scored a small 0.2g!

My problem for the first 6 months was that I was using a PI mine detector with silent threshold....literally only dug loud signals. Finally scored a bit the first time out with the 2300....sucked and licked that bit about 40 times while staring at it to make sure it was actually gold ๐Ÿ™‚

Looking back, I think I walked over gold with the mine detector......I just didnt know at the time that I should have investigated the small squeaks and farts....

I am am headset guy. Makes me always a bit nervous when prospecting in the middle if nowhere and I don't hear what's going on around me. Desert is a bit better than thick forrest where you can't see whats coming at you (animals or crazy guys on drugs- plenty of them in some areas).

    GC

Yep my biggest fear and the reason I dont ever use headphones. Was detecting in a quite remote area on my own one day and heard a bark...then another bark, then a growl....Needless to say I hurried back to the car. The 7000 would have turned into an expensive club that day if it was needed. If i am going to be attacked by dogs, I would rather stand a chance of hearing them first. I even start heading back to the car if I see a reasonable fresh dog poo!!

I am not really a fan of killing animals, however with the sheep and cattle losses here to wild dog packs, I understand it.

Someday somewhere there will be a new list of names, sizes and finders of such mammoth Au discoveries.

We keep reaching father off the beaten paths and deeper into the ground.ย  So many places have yet a coil over them but time will tell.

    Thanks for sharing.

Even big finds in well worked areas. Amazes me that you can still find the odd sunbaker in areas that have been "well" detected. Just goes to show you that no one gets its all. Should have zigged, but you zagged and missed a sunbaker by that much....

    Dig everything.

Even more so in areas you already have gotten gold out of ๐Ÿ™‚

This is where I think the 6000 shines....So I pinged a small small bit....it makes you slow down. Slowed down, dug each signal, ended up with a few more...slowed down again, found 3g sunbaker :)....

Then back to chain area....28 bits and counting, still havent finished chaining with the 6000....every time I move further up, I get more bits....And then i have to put the 19" GPZ coil over the ground that looks deeper!!

I always like to break the monotony of chaining by just having a wander around before I go home....bam!...large speccie 230 metres away....

If I had not found the first tiny bit, I would not have gone back to the area again and again ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Great finds NorthEast! Well done!

Got to love bonus hot rock gold ๐Ÿ™‚

have you noticed any particular warbles?? Every target has sounded the same to me, except thin wire...

With the 7, there was a kinda "gold warble"...the 6000 so far (to me) sounds pretty much the same on everything, just volume is different. dig everything I guess, like i generally do anyway.

The specimen is a case in point...loud initial signal, 2 boot scrapes and it was overloading....almost was thinking big steel bolt.

  6. crushed and panned ๐Ÿ™‚

Currently sitting outside drying in the sun before weigh in.

    I reckon about 25g.

Now...Just on the 6000, I cant say i am noticing any double blips on gold...or hi/low...so far literally everything has just sounded loud!...Even those small lead shot...The only thing that has sounded a bit different is very small squiggly bits of wire...They sound hollow'ish like gold on the 7000...

    maybe I need hearing aides...

Thanks, yes this has been my understanding as well. It's just that I probably would have changed to the 14DD way before having to go all the way down to gain 1 with the 11 monoย

Yeah I agree....I dont think i would get as low as 1 either....

Its been my experience so far, even with pretty bad EMI, that just dropping it a bit has helped with the mono.

That been said, the auto settings are great! Sometimes a tad noisy, but regular noise cancels do work.

That's an interesting observation. Is this really so? This would suggest that dialing down on sensitivity but keeping the 11 mono would be a better choice thanย switching to the 14DD when needed, to not loose too much depth. Unless of course it's so bad that even at sensitivity 1 the 11 mono would not be stable.

I think thats what the manual implies. They say "Generally, a Doubleโ€D coil should only be used if noise cannot be managed by using a Mono coil with the Noise Cancel Procedure" and it (DD) should be used in areas of known high EMI or conductive ground"

They way I read it, is that the mono should always be the first choice. Try auto, if quiet, try auto+, which they add has extra depth in low noise conditions.

The manual goes on to say that manual sensitivity can be reduced either to control EMI or ground noise.

So yes, I would drop sensitivity in mono first before putting on the DD if I can ๐Ÿ™‚

I think for serious newbies in Oz with limited $ the Pup (2300) is a better choice than the young dog (6000) orย the old dog (7000).

The pup with the added coiltek feeding bowls๐Ÿ™‚

But yep...use the pup to find enough bones...sell bones, by new dog ๐Ÿ™‚

The machine did settle somewhat at idle but any movement sent it bonkers. I was careful not to scrub the coil as per Jpย recommendations on the forum. Power lines are around 200m from the diggings and my sdc has never been affected by emi at this location. The sdc has suffered from ground noise depending on how wet the ground is. I would be interested to see if anyone else has found the 11 mono unusable in the default threshold off. Also why turning the threshold on is reported to tame the machine.ย

could be emi....try the coil somewhere with less emi.

  11. Well I have both dogs.....The old dog I still love cos I got him first....But he is often a difficult dog to train!....He is tough to walk as he is so big. When I do walk him, he ends up hurting me ๐Ÿ˜ž Since getting the new dog, its been a revelation! He is just so easy to walk. He barks at bones and helps me find many....mainly small bones so far, but I think he can help sniff a few bigger ones!ย  I have found that the new dog gets a bit over excited at times and does yap....when he does, I pet him and he calms down really quickly.

The old dog is in the kennel for a while. When i need some help looking for huge bones, I will try taking him for a few walks again....

  12. Well. What a revelation these things are ๐Ÿ™‚

Wow. Pair beautifully to the 6000 and the audio seems clearer than the inbuilt speaker.

Nice to have speakers below the ears. Could turn volume down on 6000 and get a nice smooth threshold.

Nice and secure around neck. Forget valcro idea, dont need it.

Minelab, if you are reading, get a deal going with Advantree stat! ๐Ÿ™‚

Just spent two days with 6000 and Aventree Torus, WTG they pair up effortlessly

    Awesome ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks!

Was it just a case of switching both to pairing mode??

Well done on the new patch!! Go get 'em!!

  14. I can say that the 6000 detects a tiny leadshot 100% better than the 7000 does ๐Ÿ™‚

How do I know?? because I detected one right near a hole I got gold out of with the 7000 and I know I swung the 7000 over it.

I own and use both. Am I going to do air tests? Nope. I have better things to do with my detecting time and there are so many variables that they are often meaningless anyway ๐Ÿ˜‰

What I will do though is report back what I am finding with each detector in real detecting environments. The 7000 amazed me....Now the 6000 has taken the amazement to a whole different level. Its pinging bits I would never have thought possible....a 0.08g at 3-4 inches!...And it screamed like it was an ounce! Sure i would love to be detecting ounces every couple of days, but those types of nuggets are far and few between out my way....what the 6000 has already done is increased my gold v hour ratio....i am at about a gram an hour at the moment.....without pain.

The GPZ19 will be chucked on and this will become my detector of choice when I think there is a likelyhood of larger and deeper bits hiding. For everything else, the 6000 is now my go to machine.

If I detect a decent bit at good depth, i will swing the 7000 over it for a rear world comparison and vice versa ๐Ÿ™‚

If the 7000 detects it up to 40% deeper, so be it....

  15. Arrived in the post ๐Ÿ™‚

First impressions: Smaller than what they look like in pics. Light, very light. Fit snuggly around neck. Didnt fall off when I did a few practice bends ๐Ÿ™‚

Will try them on weekend with 6000....

PS....ย  This nuggie started a detector gold rush at that location.ย  I returned to that spot 2 weeks later and the location looked like a war zone.ย  I'd told 2 people the location of the find and that's all it took.ย  Learned another lesson after that which is why I tendย to hunt alone now and try to keep quiet in the future......

I learnt early on that lying is good in the gold game ๐Ÿ™‚

    "getting any?"

"nah, nothing...just a couple of small ones"

    "Where did you get them?"

"Well you know when your heading out north about 6 km's and theres a track up on your left that goes to an old windmill with a broken fence near it?"

    "Yeah i know that spot"

    "Well its nowhere near there".....

Some of my spots, I literally have about 6 different ways in and out so people cant pick my tracks.... ๐Ÿ™‚
