  1. A buddy of mine was out detecting in a steep wash near Yuma last month when he noticed he was being followed by one of those things only 30 to 50 'from above and behind him. He pulled his Taurus Judge from its holster and took aim.......it hauled ass outta there never to be seen again
  2. Dan Guyer also made a hand full of TDI 4x6 mono "shooter" coils (yep, same plastic housing as the goldmaster shooter coil) and I have found more small nuggets with this loop than any other TDI coil. Its been my experience, no matter how nasty the ground is I can run my TDI SL at max sensitivity / GB "off" swinging this coil. When I heard Dan had died (God rest his soul) I heard that Whites had little interest building his TDI specialty coils. What a shame but not surprising.
  3. Government heavy handedness has been gradually increasing for several decades and who knows to what end..
  4. Great vid! I watched most of it on my lunch break and told my boss I'm logging this in for today's training.
  5. I've sat in on several of Kevin's seminars and have learned a lot. He's a very smart guy and a wealth of experience but what really sets him apart from others are his great communication / teaching skills.
  6. Can be viewed on the GPAA web site(members only) or get lucky and be in a limited local broadcast area. What irritates me about the whole thing is that for years, the GPAA television shows were aired on the Outdoor Channel which was a big reason why I paid the subscription. Recently, the Massies sold the Outdoor Channel then turned direction of the GPAA over to someone else in the family who obviously has different ideas and nope...not a member.
  7. Ran the GB Pro for years and loved it, then the F19 came out and had to buy one. Did extensive bench testing between the two using the same DD 6x10 factory coil. I took 12 coarse gold/quartz specimens ( 2 gram or less) for the sensitivity testing on the two machines. The results were very close; the F19 sounded off on all pieces where as the GB Pro nailed 10 of the 12 (it struggled on the 2 smallest pieces) Called Fisher and shared my results with a tech who commented; "thats interesting" I then asked the tech that I thought the two machines were supposed to be on parity when it came to sensitivity on low conductive targets and he said they're supposed to be. I then asked if there were any software/ program changes between the two machines that could make the F19 more sensitive over the GB Pro under certain circumstances and his reply was; "possibly"......OK I get it and thanked him for his time, the GB Pro is now back-up to my F19. I think a field test between the FORS Gold+ and the F19 would be most interesting.
  8. Being based in SoCal still has some advantages....Its drywashing time in the Mojave!
  9. Glad to post how it works out for me.......Already considered trying some of the smaller NEL DD's on the T2
  10. Really appreciate you time in the discussion Steve thanks a bunch. Seems like there's enough differences between the two machines that I suppose I'll buy one .Been doing a lot of tailing pile work with the f75 this year and the T2 should be a great addition for this. BTW, my favorite loop on the f75 for this work has been the concentric coil and I'm already looking forward to having the T2 within reach should I feel the need to run a DD through the same material
  11. Thanks Steve, just what I wanted to know. One more question; Do you think one would perform better than the other in highly mineralized ground (as in what you would see in the gold fields) with both using comparable DD coils?
  12. I have been told the T2 is really just a F75 with different rod, paint and decals. Programs, performance and sensitivity supposed to be same machine and I'm referring to base models only (not special /limited edition models) The T2 is known internationally in distant gold fields as a great nugget shooter. The F75 state side for relics, coins and gold in trashy tailing piles. Are they really the same machine or perhaps "tweaked" just a bit different but kept on the down low by the folks at First Texas. Any insight into this would be appreciated.
  13. Every time I talk of a new detector my wife would remind me that money doesn't exactly grow on trees, Thanks for sharing Steve!
  14. May be I'll get lucky and Reno Chris will jump in on the subject
  15. The old timer's horn spoon was used for sampling for values.especially in the desert where water was scarce. Any info. on technique or how it was used would be much appreciated. Thanks...Rob
  16. Nice gold and well done, thanks for sharing.
  17. Stinks of total inside job, most of it probably moved out of area immediately. Some sold to collectors the rest melted down to facilitate selling. Victomized by scheming low-life dirtbags, I feel for the the guy.
  18. I believe US company's care more about the business "bottom line" over bragging rights to best nugget detector currently in the field. First Texas and White's are making plenty of money selling their existing (dated?) gold machines to the african miners. An old tech detector here is all new there where what counts most is low cost, availability, ease of use and proven to find the gold. Since africa hasn't seen the pressure like north america or australia, these machines are producing just fine. Research and development is very expensive with uncertain outcomes so If you can still sell whats already on the shelf you do it.......Just business
  19. An ICMJ subscription it's self is worth its weight in gold and most every prospector should have Fists Full of Gold in the man cave (I have both) Their are no losers in this contest. BTW; Does anyone know if ICMJ is having a mining summit/prospecting trade show for 2016 in Placerville?
  20. That stuff was meant for crush n' panning. If you find values in that sample and have access to a whole lot more.....Time to buy a impact mill. BTW, I wouldn't put any ore into my mouth (arsenic, lead, copper sulfate....)
