Prospecting In Wa ---- Tent, Camper Or Caravan?
GR Guy replied to Ethan in Adelaide's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Even better solution for flexibility would be something like a Troopy - totally flexible and everything inside. I would recommend whatever setup having a fly screen tent / awning so you can put a barrier between the flies. -
Doesn’t sound like they will be released in the short term if ever. I’m sure a few are hoping that’s not the case.

Ripper piece, very happy I live within an hour of the Golden Triangle

Avantree Interested In Hearing From You
GR Guy replied to Wiggins's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
To be honest I don’t use the earbuds on the Torus just the speaker. Allows you to get good spatial hearing in the bush and still has the volume to identify threshold changes which could be targets- 74 replies

I like Victorian Gold Hunters and Detrackozi both are long term prospectors and know the history, geology and detectors. There are some others mentioned here that are what I consider commercial YouTubers and while they may have a big following don’t know one end of a detector from the other. You’ll often find the best channels don’t have a big following- they just present stuff in a non-commercial form.

Nuggetfinder Coils Release Dates For The 6000 & 7000?
GR Guy replied to Sourdough Scott's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
It will be interesting whether there will be any more coils released for the 6000. Hopefully we’ll get an update in the new year. -

Big News From Coiltek For Nox And Xterra Pro Users
GR Guy replied to GR Guy's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Back to the gold nugget paddock with the 18” Coiltek coil. Still dry and the flies are horrific, managed some good finds at depth.- 50 replies

Big News From Coiltek For Nox And Xterra Pro Users
GR Guy replied to GR Guy's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Interesting theory, it states it goes deeper than the 15” so maybe the depth doesn’t tap out shallower- 50 replies

12x7" Nugget Finder Xceed First Use Impression
GR Guy replied to phrunt's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
So it’s basically an oversized 10x5 and $180 more to buy in Australia than the Goldhawk. -
GPZ 7000----- Should I Buy Nf 12 Coils Or?
GR Guy replied to Ethan in Adelaide's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
I would stick to the standard coil on the Zed and look for a larger coil for the 6000 for coverage Finders Keepers in Kal are selling a heap of the 14x9 Goldhawks. -
Minelab 6000 On Ground Hunted With 7000
GR Guy replied to davsgold's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Spot on - all the testing I’ve done has the 9” Goldhawk as the best performed on both depth and sensitivity. -
Was in Kalgoorlie last week - 6000 flowing out of one store and at the peak of gold season the Garrett shop closed. Both are the same price in Oz and there would be at least 100 to 1 - 6000 to Axiom sold here. A large number of people make a living on gold here so I’d say if the performance was close we would see more Axioms here and there aren’t.
-
Very interesting time ahead Codan/Minelab has diversified their assets across a number of areas and will be more flexible to the challenges of the global recession vs the straight detecting companies. Also given the lack of competition in gold could spell troubles for other competitors. I’m glad I live in Oz where even a top end detector can be paid off pretty quickly @$A100 a gram.
-
Can I suggest you try the 9” Goldhawk before making long term plans about your 6000 arsenal.
-
Seems like a few are convinced all the gold is gone from their patches but everybody goes back finds at least one where you think how did I miss that. What if current technology only sees 80% of the gold (mineralisation and other factors). Would people be happy finding another 20% from their multi ounce patches with a newer technology? The 6000 is a great example where people thought that all the shallow gold was found with the SDC and smaller coils on other machines.

Thank You Garrett Electronics & My 1 Year Axiom Thoughts
GR Guy replied to Gerry in Idaho's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
Gerry - Great post, why do you think the Axiom has a better coil selection than the GPX 6000 which when NF released will have 9 coil sizes. -
I was -At least it covered a spot where the mozzies couldn’t bite me.
-
Simon - I’ve had the speaker fix, just wanted something a bit more comfortable for the Aussie summer when the winds up and speaker can be difficult to hear with the fly sh$t. Strange that others can’t speak highly enough with the 6. Must have 2m arms 😱
