Doesn’t sound like they will be released in the short term if ever. I’m sure a few are hoping that’s not the case.

Hi guys,
Taking in everyone's feedback so far, I'd like to ask if you would be interested in the form factor of our NB18 neckband earbuds for your metal detectors:
https://avantree.com/nb18-bluetooth-neckband-earbuds-with-eq-enhancements
- Neckband form factor: not intrusive if you wear hats or glasses, and makes it so it's less likely to lose if it falls out. It should stay in place in rough environments.
- Loud and boosted volume
- In-line volume controls to easily adjust your volume.
Would you see yourself using earbuds like this with your metal detector?
To be honest I don’t use the earbuds on the Torus just the speaker. Allows you to get good spatial hearing in the bush and still has the volume to identify threshold changes which could be targets

I like Victorian Gold Hunters and Detrackozi both are long term prospectors and know the history, geology and detectors. There are some others mentioned here that are what I consider commercial YouTubers and while they may have a big following don’t know one end of a detector from the other. You’ll often find the best channels don’t have a big following- they just present stuff in a non-commercial form.

If you want a larger coil as a patch hunter, I would suggest that the 17" minelab coil is your best, and only way to go. I would not expect a larger coil from NF for a fair while, perhaps the 14 x 9 coiltek could be a choice.
If NF wire the 16x10 like the 12x7, it will be closer to a 14x9 Coiltek in wiring which is $200 cheaper.

It will be interesting whether there will be any more coils released for the 6000. Hopefully we’ll get an update in the new year.

Back to the gold nugget paddock with the 18” Coiltek coil. Still dry and the flies are horrific, managed some good finds at depth.

Congratulations GR Guy, that nugget is a beauty! Not a bad effort for your Nox too.. I'm already impressed by the first field results, can't wait for mine to come.. How did you get a hold of that one before they're released? Are you a secret Coiltek field tester or did you nick it from their workshop? 😁
Nothing secret about it Erik - I’m one of the testers in Australia for Coiltek. Weather permitting will hopefully get some more footage this weekend

A few videos on some different media for the 18”. And yes very happy to pull my largest nugget with a coin/relic machine. Hope this helps with where it’s best use is.

Let's just say for example the depth of the VLF detector is tapped out at 13" for coil size, then is an 18" round really beneficial just to get extra ground coverage? Would something like a 17x13" be the better option? You would get the good ground coverage, maximum possible depth and you should get a lighter coil, the 14x9" Coiltek made heavy for water use on purpose but as you can see the 15x12" ML coil is quite a bit lighter than the 15" round.
I must say on my CTX I use the 17x13" as my primary coin hunting coil, and feel it gives me maximum depth along with ground coverage. I think it's the ideal size big coil for a VLF type detector, the large rounds just don't seem logical with VLF depths far more limited than that of a PI.
It would be interesting to find the coil size that absolutely maxes out the Equinox depth and then just elliptical it and I wouldn't be surprised if its 12" or 13" wide is the optimal size.
I have the 15" round for my T2, it's laughable, a big heavy pointless coil, no extra depth over a 12x13" coil but a whole lot of extra weight.
I'm not saying this coil is a bad coil, I have no idea I've never used it, I'd love to own it, I do just wonder if a bigger elliptical would have been better. Either way I use my VLF's for deep coin hunting, so this coil is certainly of interest, I'll hold off until reports start flowing before jumping on it though.
Interesting theory, it states it goes deeper than the 15” so maybe the depth doesn’t tap out shallower

So it’s basically an oversized 10x5 and $180 more to buy in Australia than the Goldhawk.

I would stick to the standard coil on the Zed and look for a larger coil for the 6000 for coverage Finders Keepers in Kal are selling a heap of the 14x9 Goldhawks.

The 9" round coiltek goldhawk coil is my favourite for the 6000, super quiet, excellent depth and sensitivity.
Spot on - all the testing I’ve done has the 9” Goldhawk as the best performed on both depth and sensitivity.

Was in Kalgoorlie last week - 6000 flowing out of one store and at the peak of gold season the Garrett shop closed. Both are the same price in Oz and there would be at least 100 to 1 - 6000 to Axiom sold here. A large number of people make a living on gold here so I’d say if the performance was close we would see more Axioms here and there aren’t.

Very interesting time ahead Codan/Minelab has diversified their assets across a number of areas and will be more flexible to the challenges of the global recession vs the straight detecting companies. Also given the lack of competition in gold could spell troubles for other competitors. I’m glad I live in Oz where even a top end detector can be paid off pretty quickly @$A100 a gram.

Can I suggest you try the 9” Goldhawk before making long term plans about your 6000 arsenal.

I don’t think anybody has mentioned it but a floated company has people called shareholders. You don’t make profit, you don’t have shareholders, you don’t have a company.

Seems like a few are convinced all the gold is gone from their patches but everybody goes back finds at least one where you think how did I miss that. What if current technology only sees 80% of the gold (mineralisation and other factors). Would people be happy finding another 20% from their multi ounce patches with a newer technology?
The 6000 is a great example where people thought that all the shallow gold was found with the SDC and smaller coils on other machines.- 3

Gerry - Great post, why do you think the Axiom has a better coil selection than the GPX 6000 which when NF released will have 9 coil sizes.

These are now redundant, EMI speaker fix and throw the Avantree in the bin.
I also agree, you can't get your neck anywhere near the coil so unless you're a Giraffe they're pretty useless.
Simon - I’ve had the speaker fix, just wanted something a bit more comfortable for the Aussie summer when the winds up and speaker can be difficult to hear with the fly sh$t. Strange that others can’t speak highly enough with the 6. Must have 2m arms 😱

Prospecting In Wa ---- Tent, Camper Or Caravan?

Even better solution for flexibility would be something like a Troopy - totally flexible and everything inside. I would recommend whatever setup having a fly screen tent / awning so you can put a barrier between the flies.
