  1. Great stuff Aureous im glad ya like it,i remember the first day out with it and it really transformed the detector, feels solid and well the way it's meant to i guess. lol

One other thing,it doesn't hurt to get in the habit of locking it when packing it away also.

We were out on the quad a cuppla months ago and id just unlocked it,slid it togethor then threw it on as usual,we were riding about for a cuppla hours looking at ground then a fair ride back to camp but in those 2-3 hrs the bolt in the lever clamp had worked itself all the way out.

Back at camp the boss said your clamps half missing,oh bugger, anyway by chance the bolt and lever ended up on the footwell of the quad,we had spares but it's practise for us now to relock them after sliding it down....

Just read that applying heat with a hair dryer softens the glue on the Equinox clamps to remove them, have you tried doing that with the 6000 ferrule? May be easier and cleaner than cutting a graphite rod- that scares me from a  previous experience!

It would work for sure id say but the 6000 twist lock ferrule has a locating tab on it,even if you can break the bond it won't slide off,has to be split, but in saying that it must be fitted by sliding it on,maybe break the bond then pliers on the ferrule to deform it slightly to slide off? haven't tried that...

Does the equinox clamps have a locating tab?

I'm expecting to receive one of these kits next week. I'll let everyone know what I think of it.

Hope ya happy with it aureous, let us know good or bad.

Probably lose a cuppla sales here but if you want to chase the bits up yourself i think teleknox in england have the clamps available and you can use an old gpx yoke,it is just slightly wider then the 6000 yoke, whether long term it might crack the coil ears im not sure, the equinox yoke is the correct width...

I was afraid of that. So besides other coils, I guess we can’t easily use custom rods for it either.  It looked pretty solidly inserted into the box/cuff.

I am going to try out some o-rings, I think they may help when you tighten up the lock ring…

I hate them twist locks gotau

Early in the game i bought bits and pieces to fix ours up hopefully,i ended up finding a supplier overseas but i had to buy in bulk,im a prospector,i didn't want to be selling products in this game, buying in bulk i had no choice though,i'll post a link below,it's a good setup, there on ebay or available through Finders Keepers in Kalgoorlie WA.

If you can source clamps and suitable yokes it's easy done, carbon tube is readily available anywhere online, the cam lock clamps are the tough ones to find,if you look at my ebay listing you can get the jist of how to go about it.

Im not here to sell,it's ended up this way by default really, quite a few in oz have swapped them over, big improvement, cutting the old ferrule off is the biggest hurdle...

Yes o rings might help, give it a go.

I have no doubt that the GPX 6000 is killing it in many areas of Australia. There is plenty of YouTube proof of that from well respected prospectors. It is doing well in some areas of the USA too.

I just did not experience that at all. Most of the places I tried to detect with it, the lightweight 11" mono coil was totally unusable and all the great ergonomics and balance of the GPX 6000 were negated by having to use the 14" DD along with loss of sensitivity on the specie and smaller gold that I was after and which the 11" Mono was designed for.

Just for information, I actually owned two GPX 6000s and the first one had the exact same type of performance problems using the 11” coil in the same places…..

I had seller’s remorse, thinking maybe it was me and not the detector so I bought a second one used…….Nope!

Yeah id be peed off to,it can throw a tantrum on the odd occasion for no reason i've noticed but it's nothing heading towards unusable where we are, good luck out there mate...

Both rods are 22mm OD on the control end, I’m sure it will work. The Tele-Nox rod is well built and the adjustable cam locks hold each section tightly. The rod shape is basically round with a closed channel running through the length of them. This makes them ridged and they cannot spin when nested together.

The only thing I’m not sure of is how easily the existing 6K rod can be removed from the box. There are 10 small plastic tabs holding part of the box around the rod, but there may be another clamp inside the box that I cannot see…

It's a no go,the arm cuff is bonded to the shaft, looked at that but i can't see a way to unbond it safely...

  7. Revamp on the shafts is all id ask for.

Since the 6's came out we are way past the 100oz mark with them, they can be temperamental, they love hot rocks but in fresh country that can be ya only indicator in spots, our 7's in semi retirement, they've both been dropped on occasions, left on the quad at camp at the end of each day and generally used and abused and shock horror where still on original skid plates atm.

So minelab improve the shafts but leave the rest alone, brilliant detectors to swing all day and prove ground up,there a bit of a game changer in WA we've found....

As far as mineralization goes, Tibooburra is totally NOT bad....not even mild. High Freq VLF's can run there easily without too much noise. Probably the worst ground that Warren could have made a video from. This is a crap comparison video from someone who is NOT a prospector. A 'good' 6000 operator on the common gets 50+ bits of lead shot and from 1.5-2 grams a day of small gold, depending on the hours spent and the level of experience.

Took the words right out of my mouth, corner country ground is not near as mineralised as wa or vic,the footage wasn't impressive...

The detector looks awsome but having tried the atx in wa will this one handle our bad ground, time will tell, nice going though garrett.....
