  1. Memorial Day, Dad was Army Air Corp 40-45, Mom was in the first group of WAVE's 41-45. I made 6 years Army National Guard 65-71. Brother Tony, #2, finished med school and went to Germany (Army) to take care of the wounded flown in from 'Nam. Brother #3, Jim, USMC 66-70, was in the last convoy out of Khe San. He made three+ tours. My old mining partners were marines. My life has always seemed to revolve around those that served. The old flag is the "new" 50-star my Mom bought to celebrate the '61 Kansas centennial. The booney hat was my brother Jim's. I can't find the 'Eagle, Ball, The Anchor' emblem. There's lotsa emotion and pride on Memorial Day. Too many stories to tell. No gold today Gerry, just golden memories. Semper Fi to my friends, and God Bless our troops.
  2. Count me in Gerry. Today is just a picture from the park in my backyard. Tomorrow is for the veterans in our family. Thanks for doing this. It means a lot to those who have family that served. J
  3. Put me down for a signed copy..... along with thousands of others.
  4. Use to hang out at the Ace High in Golden with my brother. Golden was a cool place to live in the 80's and 90's.(before the Colorado casinos) Wonder what it's like today? Gotta consider the hunt if the world isn't completely closed down by then.
  5. Oops! Forgot the link to biting flies: http://medent.usyd.edu.au/fact/biting flies.htm Yep...first merit badge was Insect Life, Been bugged ever since.........☺️
  6. Gerry, That's a grasshopper, genus Orthoptera.
  7. I'm stunned! After a decade of loss, the thought that I might be able to put a dredge in the water in California is almost overwhelming. If it happens, I"ll be there next year as one of the older dredgers on the river. But frankly, I've donated to the cause over the past decade, and had my hopes dashed at every turn. Lets see what happens. I don't trust any politician from california. J
  8. White's MX Sport has better ergonomics than the NOX800. Too bad it weighs almost 5 pounds.
  9. Lunk, I got one of the first 800's from Gerry. I just checked my headphones and they are undamaged. However, I only have about 20 hours on them. Thanks for letting us know "J"
  10. 1195 nickles last year. one war nickle, another dozen or so keepers, but no buffs. However, I recovered four gold items at nickle range totalling 19+ grams gold content. For me digging nickles is well worth the trash/nickle ratio. Gotta do your own thing!
  11. Ask: Mind telling my why you're pointing a shotgun at me? Not much else you can do at that point, but stay calm and find out what's going on. So Gerry, what did you're friend do?.....since he's still alive.
  12. Nothing... She got the gold. The guys got the lookey-loo and not one of them is checking the area to see if it's a patch. When's lunch?
  13. Gerry, just got the 800 from you. I've got the diamond ring, gold and silver jewelry and a couple of thousand in clad with the last detector, but old silver coins continue to elude me, only 10 in two years. Old silver please, from the NOX800! J
  14. Let me qualify myself. i'm new to the board and only have a few months of using the MXT Pro, but i absolutely agree with you. I found a few nuggets with the 10" DD in Alaska last year when i first bought the MXT Pro, but didn't even try coins in the park behind me until this spring. the 4"x6" DD is much more sensitive than the 10" to small stuff. I recently acquired the use of a Detech 13"DD and am getting much deeper coins and decent separation, and it weighs 1/4 pound less than the 10"DD. i look forward to using the set up in N. Cal later this summer. you are going to enjoy your new MXT! J
