  1. Happy days!!! my 800 and WM came home and everything works correctly and simply. I took it to a park and through the factory preset programs, all is well thank you Minelab, excellent service! fred
  2. I use Sony , very similar to those Philips...everywhere except the beach! fred
  3. Sorry, I misunderstood the situation... hopefully some one with the newer coils will help. based. On my dated experience with the Minelab pi 2000, 2200, gp extreme ,3500 and 5000....I think emi and very hot ground would benefit from the 15 inch Dd but, I have no actual experience with it fred
  4. a new machine should work perfectly in every way...not practically perfect like Mary Poppins. fred
  5. I think you should take them out and test them on the site...yes, it may be a pain but that is the most direct way to determine the answer...if there is a definitive answer. A DD will give a different signal so you better listen very closely to what the detector is saying...those faint bumps and lulls could be a monster or just a hot pocket. best of luck fred
  6. not unusual at all for many machines...they just don't play well together fred
  7. You did the right thing for the right reasons...who cares what the doubters say! good on you...as the Aussies say fred
  8. So, mine made it back and they shipped something...I will know what on the 29th....very eager!!! fred
  9. The country around Reno and over in the Plumas/Sierra counties is very easy on those older nails...I found them in like-new condition many times...enough to build a small house...they are different than modern nails. fred
  10. the 12x15 will get very small and big nuggets, if you have the place to swing use it...either one will do what you want. The round coil may actually give more depth...I don't remember the formula. fred
  11. I guess I should have paid attention...but, I think my attention account is empty... I presume my soon to arrive E800 will be the latest and best version... we shall see fred
  12. Different states have different rules...As the guy said when I found mine in W. A. you know that is the property of the Queen.... hope you are doing well, Rege fred
  13. Definitely check the stripped areas first. You may even see coins laying about. I detected a school in Mesa, az once when they were constructing. I was amazed at the coins we found! fred
  14. Steve, I know you want to be cautious about such things and that is good... But, you always give disclaimers, notices and warnings. I don't see why those ( like me) should be denied any of your most valuable opinions because some one else thinks every setting is the miracle cure.... feel free to delete if I am stepping out of bounds. fred
  15. Beautiful gold...excellent detecting except for throwing one back.... fred
  16. Mollie at Minelab has connected with me...I sent the detector module and wm back per her request. I am hopeful. Thank you Mollie! btw; email seems more efficient than the telephone, if one needs to chat with them. Apparently they are very busy....
  17. Thanks, Chase I figured you would know plenty and be willing to share! fred
  18. Yes, you would have 5 OZ of gold rather than five lumps of junk, gold plated..
  19. They never got more simple than the Sliver Sabre...for simple that is the standard. We need more to do than babble on the net, Chuck! fred
  20. Many people buy plated coins( made by various shysters), hearing/seeing the 24 K but paying no attention to the rest of the story... give to the kids fred
  21. Thanks, Chase; I expect a trip to Minelab will be in order... I can never find where on their site I e-registered...do you know the secret? fred
  22. Apparently, my wireless pairing button does not work... I have tried every combination to get the thing to show...but, it won't. Detector on... WM on wm rapid blink on PUSH the wireless, water-proof button-NOTHING several Factory resets done also.... The trouble shooting guide says to ….CONFIRM the wireless setting is set to on"...??? where is this setting? FRED
  23. Hydrofluoric acid is not for amateurs ... for the nubby, Reg... I know you are aware. fred
