On the other hand, if you want to be a tourist the are lots of sights to see...take a drive up to Sofala and areas around...very pretty. fred
  5. Yes, work between and around the old diggings. But, it is often worth while to work tailings and throw-out for specimens and nuggets. You can get left-overs or you can try for new; ground-enjoy the adventure. fred

  10. Mitchel; Security requires that they can and will open any container. I would not ship both in one...carry the control boxes on with you, a change of undies and your toothbrush. They can and do screw-up. Fortunately you will be local incase they forget to shop your bags...like they did mine. Your GPZ came with many house adaptors... fred
  11. I am sure things have improved in the OutBack since 2000...my first trip I had to beg a bank to give me cash to pay Doug Stone...they said they had to keep the currency for the locals... That is a tight economy. fred

  20. A set of smart-wool long johns are very light weight for extra warmth without bulk...I highly suggest you get some. REI sells them. Also, a light weight water proof wind breaker... fred
