  1. Tom really hit a nice one...I really wish I had gone to Ganes creek...while I am wishing I wish I had made it back to Moore Creek before Steve gave it up. My Moore creek trip was almost 10 years ago...Dang! Due to my poor choices of equipment I only found two pieces of gold...this was a solid .52 oz from there. Steve, thanks again for the memories fred
  2. There were some fantastic nuggets in that old channel...I hope they show some pic's of the new nuggets they will be digging! fred
  3. Oh I could doit , just toooooo lazy...by the way, i am fat and a little older-64 and 1/2 and counting...I hope you, me and Steve can get together soon...or later fred
  4. Jonathan, what I said about Steve in the above post, I have and will say about you...only a fool would not see the truth. fred
  5. Nice WORK, Chris...drywashing is too much for me but the gold is really pretty. Mark Hyde of Gold Prospecting Australia is speaking highly of the success his clients are having with the SDC... Simply everyone is raving about it's abilities...and ease of use. fred
  6. Steve, your intregrity, honesty and extreme experience are why I always point people to your site...they simply cannot get a more well-rounded opinion. I read everything you write and continue to learn and gain insights that would otherwise elude me... thanks fred
  7. When I was visiting C and W up at Rye Patch we were playing around with the ctx3030 and various targets... Chris placeed a bunch of nails on the ground and Mitchel put his big speci in the middle. The 3030 didnot pick the speci out of the junk at any reasonable swing speed...The XP DUES did...that was quite an eye opening event...the dues certainly had way faster recovery speed. fred
  8. One of those would be very nice if I get back to Oz...my wife's main complaint during my trips was the lack of knowing where I was and how I was doing...that would ease the pain of separation a bit... fred
  9. Wow, Steve; you sure do a bunch of work and thinking for this forum and all the others you contribute to. Nice job explaining these various facets of detecting. I find the higher the sensitivity on my 3030 the jumper it gets;plus many more spurious signals. Also every change in the settings affects the readouts more or less...and finally, my ears tell more than anything else whether I will dig or not. All exactly as you wrote. thanks fred
  10. Pretty gold...sounds like you put that 2300 through the ringer and it did its job...of course it helps that the Master was at the helm.... welcome back fred
  11. check all the connections on both detectors...make sure the batteries are installed correctly...the problem is almost always something simple... fred
  12. Backpacking into remote areas for 3 or 4 days and hitting the Undetected areas has always been on my list. Unfortunately, thinking about it is all I have accomplished. I hope you did well and had a great adventure....with no unwelcome encounters from BigFoots... fred
  13. That is impressive, especially with those conditions. I find it interesting that the target sounded like a small target, you never know until you dig it... fred
  14. There is no doubt in my mind that you and Chris are proving that the SDC is a great addition to the tool shed. I know some places where I think the SDC would shine for what it is designed for, unfortunately, I don't have a SDC at my disposal... Good luck fred
  15. Yes, Steve...I think you are getting old and grumpy like me... My mistake in asking the question was forgetting to name the person I was writing to...I was asking Chris because he had mentioned being there before. Also, he said he took you to that place...so, with my poor reading and writing skills my question took us down a deadend road. i am not prone to asking stupid questions and I would never ask you to answer an unswerable question. You are a great Hunter Of Gold but I know you cannot read minds. RESPECT fred
  16. Very Nice, Jonathan! A new detector that "sees" the ground differently can find what others missed. Also, when ever someone tries a new toy they tend to hunt a little different than the one they are accustomed to... The 5000/2300 combo is certainly a winner for those that have the need and the money...way to go Minelab! fred
  17. The way in is easy; the walk out is hard when they break-down...get the most reliable, dependable toy you can afford. A suzuki samuri is another option and street legal too. fred
  18. That is a great set-up! The remote gold will never be safe again! Fred
  19. two months is a long time away from Home. I know I was pretty homesick at the end of my 4 and 6 week Oz tours. Still time on the ground is what is needed for the best chance of success. If i go back to Oz it will be for 4 to6 weeks... I eagerly await the Rest of the Story!!!! thanks fred
  20. As usual, the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth according to Steve. I like it! fred
  21. Very pretty gold! Were you on a commercial operation, private claim or running wild? fred
  22. I had a wonderful trip. It was free and I didnot have to swat a single mosquito!!! thanks a bunch, Steve. fred
  23. Hey, Mike...I meant no offense by my comments. Most of the people I know that hunt gold are not in the game for the money. I know I would starve if I had to eat what I kill (so to speak). I also know that many people that think they are making money are likely not really accounting for all the cost and what their time is worth-at least minimum wage. This is not to say that you and others are not making money hunting gold, etc...I say wonderful and congratulations; I know it is well earned! So, while I do get much of my money back I certainly don't make any, hence, these are just toys...with a slim chance of hitting the big one some day. fred
  24. Hi Jim; I sent you an email at your address... good luck fred
