  1. The Shoe horn... That's the first time i'v realised that's what it looks like! It's my plug cutter/digger made from a plough disk so it's got a nice bowl curve to it so I just ram it home and lever the clump out, only any good if the ground is moist well around here the ground is rock hard so I probably use the driver 90% of the time.

yeah those golf balls are way comfy but you need to drill a heap until you get one with a hard centre not goo, I just give the screw driver handle a wack with the hammer to crack the plastic and then glue it into the ball, Iv made up a few for people.

  2. Thanks Trent'

i had a sample hole to start with that showed good results, and did move maybe 1/4 ton in only a bit more than a few hours, when I'm going I get into it, plus when you get set up in a good spot it's easyier to move the spoils away and more time on the shovel.

hopefully get a ore sample crushed tomorrow' fingers crossed as I know where there's tons and should be the main source of all the gold so far.

I'm over the drywasher I need something different for a while.

  3. Well' we got out to my spot late last night, after a feed I ran under head lamp for about 2 hours, the ground is just damp and hard to keep running and at night when the weather calms the dust just lingers...

well im not going to show the gold mainly as its not worth showing' though I did bring home some nice ore to crush that might make all this hard work more exciting... Or not.

ment to rain end of week so unfortuantly there won't be another video and the drywasher might stay packed up untill next season.

  4. The only problem Iv got even with the puffer units on not so dusty dirt is it just doesn't like to feed real nice onto the cloth' once its on there it's fine, the main issue with the bellows puffer style is the good gravel layer that's normally full of tiny pebbles and gravels' but contains less fines and sands can get hung up on the cloth as the small amount of dusty sand gets blown out & away leaving the gravels, the puff of air will no longer move the gravels over the riffles so it gets hung up, a quick shake generally gets things moving again but gets old every few shovels full.

with the blower style you don't have these issue as the vibrations assist in keeping the gravels suspended but then there's noise and smell to deal with, on the hand operated puffers you can give it a few real hard blows between puffs but one person cant feed and puff real well.

every gold catching machine has its downfall but I still think the drywasher/puffer is one of the best investments mainly because of the amount of material you can process in a single day, but if you don't sweat or hate blisters don't get one.

Over winter I'm going to build a not so portable unit that will solve all these issues and break the clay up aswell' goto finish up the wood stove in the shed first.

  5. Argyle'

it didn't start its life out as a Akubra Bronco but it resembles one now' it's about 11 years old and soaked up its fair share of sweat too' bought a pair of Ariat boots at the same time that still polish up like new and only been restitched once...so far.

yeah the little puffer has a new home now but I can make another one easy enough, that one might star in the next video soon :)'

  6. LOL' sorry to confuse anyone but in the video I'm using the Thompson 12v puffer but iv modified it somewhat...

Pete' is using a leaf blower style unit, both which on that day moved about the same amount but I had put a few trips in on that hole to get that return, not worth the time involved but' at some point I broke through the pay layer into the pipe clay, most the good ground and gold was the first 10".

if I only worked the top 10" and broke up the dry clay it produced 1/2gram in a few hard hours work, not bad gold and the perfect way to sample a larger area for the sweet spot for hopefully a few small nuggets at the end of the day.

  7. Hey everyone, just wanted to start a new topic on Drywashing for gold in Australia.

Here's a video of me and my mate Pete out on a quick overnighter' it's still dry enough here at the moment but finding time to get out before it starts raining might stop us from more footage this season.

Steve' feel free to move it to a more relevant section if needed, also if others want to add info video's etc to the same topic feel free just keep the topic on Australia.

    enjoy'

  8. John' I feel the same way about the MXT polishing it into the ALL pro' that you love...Each to there own but if you don't think the MX sport is any better than what you have' don't purchase yourself a MX sport, simple.

and for F&$?s sake stop bagging the MX sport you don't have it's getting old.

  9. After recent troubles and being shafted by my own "family" there is always another side of the story and I feel we will never know what whites is... In my case Iv got no need to explain myself to the rest of the family they can make up there own mind.

what ever happens with "whites" if they keep producing interesting machines I'll be still interested, same goes for the competition.

  10. I wasn't going to bring it up as I'm sure it will open a can of worms but' when I first got the new MXT ALL pro with the 10"D2 coil I pulled it out in a trash filled picnic grounds and got bombarded by a mess of tones and it full blown washed me out, well I might also add from that day onwards I didn't like the coin mode, but obviously that was all me because it was already a proven and loved machine.

well I bought the smaller coil, but the mxt never really kicked off for me as a coin machine, but can't say I remember trying the D2 coil again.

i do see something strange going on with the MX sport and the STD coil... Too much gain? confusion from multiple targets? Wrong coil for the job....?

  11. Tough call all these new detectors, I must say I like the look of both the gold racer and AU finder' what can the gold racer do what the AU Finder can't? Not much really for me it's all about price' the cheeper the machine the less time it's going to take before a profits made' and picking a new machine for a "play" comes all down to Return these days... Well for me anyway.

  12. One spot I regularly hunt here in Australia I'll dig 100 bullets to one nugget generally around the half gram, why do I go back? It's close'

another regular spot although a lot further away the ratio is more like 5 trash to one nugget' the distance between targets gets boring and the gold is small closer to .2 gram.

So... i do more dry washing/high banking these days as I always get gold' and boredom doesn't overtake as quick.
