Well I hope I made the right choice. Gettysburg Electronics had a minelab Explorer XS in mint condition with both types of batteries and head phones for $ 400.00. It's on its way. Can't Wait !!!

Beach hunting is a lot more than running a little disc and digging everything
Saltwater beaches eat iron, but stainless reports like iron on a BBS machine.
If you can't figure out what a slow machine is telling you,... then why step up and buy something which is faster and deeper :-)
Sovereigns and Excals are top notch for the beach in the hands of an experienced hunter.
Yes indeed. But I can only afford one machine so sovereign out. E trac is where I'm headed ;;!!!!
-
I just watched a video that demonstrates how slow the recovery speed is on the Sovereign and how you will miss alot of targets because of it. I guess I need to look at a different minelab machine !
-
Thanx for the info, looking into it !
-
If not PI then multi frequency is the way to go for salt water. Minelab Sovereign, Explorers, E-TRAC, CTX and Fisher CZ detectors are safe popular choices.
Thanx Steve. Trying to locate a Sovereign Elite, not having much luck !
-
The question in my mind is do you need the detector to be fully submersible or not? The first post implied yes, with two fully submersible detectors. Now with the Sovereign you are bringing a dry land/wading detector into the mix. That pretty much opens it up for anything.
PI vs anything else is easy. For sheer power I always use a pulse induction detector UNLESS digging everything is a problem.
Wet n dry none submersible. But hopefully with audio tone disc.
Thanx Steve

Tesoro Sand Shark has my vote( I've got 2) Performance, cost and lifetime warranty are great. Cons; They can really suck down the AA's.
I am leaning towards the sand shark. Garrett no longer in the running.
Sand Shark or Sovereign series now. BBS vs PI . I know both are excellent and probably couldn't go wrong with either. Warranties are not an issue for me. I truly believe that in some things. Old school rules !

Tesoro Sand Shark or Gartett Sea Hunter Mark 2. Please help ;!!

I don't know, his picture while metal detecting and listing him as the finder should be with the exhibit! Now that would be awesome!!
-
I didn't like/keep it because was not as good as the Gold Bug 2. Although it may have served a purpose for relics and large gold, I wasn't looking for that type of machine.
You must be referring to the Gold Strike, yes, its not for everyone, but right up my alley!!
-
I Don't do any testing ! I research. Then I buy. Then I hunt. I get so confused sometimes with all the research. And when I get confused. I just read Steve Hershbach thoughts about it, and ZIP ZIP . No more confusion!!

As I go over this thread. I believe the lack of interest in the Gold Strike was just like Steve said, he didn't give it a fair chance ! I use my GS almost exclusively, I love the user FRIENDLY settings. If you learn this machine, you will love the versatility! The digital read out with plus and minus with numerical sequence is phenomenal in discrimination! I just love it ! I can always get Another GMT if I find someone that will trade me for a Eurka Gold.
-
I use my Fisher Gold Strike almost every weekend. This is my second GMT. I would trade for a Sovereign GT as well. I have never owned a Minelab. I Live in Alabama and I think either of the minelab Eureks gold or Sov GT will be handy ?!!?
-
Lol, Chevy chase. I guess were two of a kind when it comes to naked women in a pool. Lol. Sorry couldn't help the comparison.. Any way no takers, my GMT doesn't have a scratch on it. Will trade for Eureka Gold in semi similar condition !!

I might be willing to trade my GMT for an Eureka Gold just to be able to say been there done that, and be able to give an review. Besides, IV always wanted one !
-
That's to funny. I'm already watching it ;!;!!;
-
Thanx Steve ! I guess the proper and more correct way to have described myself would have been to say I'm pro made in USA !!!
-
Why am I surprised ! Yall are Fisher Followers (pro Fisher) I on the other hand am pro White's. That said, I bought this Fisher gold strike as a companion to my Whites GMT !!!! These two machines are so similar in performance it's not funny. The ability to spot gold under hot rocks is what these two machines do well. High mineralized ground is no challenge for either of these machines !! Whites build quality is better in comparison with these two MD's. That said, I'd buy a used Gold Strike used for under 300 before I'd buy a new GMT. Their both top notch and I will never need an upgrade!!!
