True Story. Finding My First Projectile
Doc Bach replied to George Kinsey's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Howdy George that's a great story and a memorable discovery. So i decided to wait awhile before sharing my first projectile because I did not want to be rude and step on your post.So other than a single example of a 1 1/2" canister shot that I found at the site of a local Indian massacre circa 1850 I also came across this one completely by accident. Although it is 80 years more recent than yours {circa www 2} it is also far more unpredictable IMHO fired and unexplored with the fuse intact. If it would have been a period example from the Native American slaughter I would have more than likely risked packing it out.For the time being it is safely hidden. -

Bullets Buttons And Buckles - Updated

Good stuff F350 I really like that embossed BIG A$$ED THIMBLE! Judging by the amount of early buttons and the other good finds that you keep turning up the cherry picking high toners didn't come close to gettin it all. And something very exceptional is bound to come to light.Like Mac Daddy George said keep digging. -
Here Is What I Told A "nosey Karen"
Doc Bach replied to George Kinsey's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
You should have whipped out your trusty old DEEPSEEKER George and asked the old biddy if she would like to give it a go? GARRETT that is. -
All very good points relicmeister, It seems that we have both similar detecting interest and habits.

Keel Staple From Nelson's Navy
Doc Bach replied to Steve Andrews's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
That's a great relic/artifact that some people may not really have an appreciation for. And the buckle that you posted over on the D2 forum is super nice as well. That's some beach! -

The bottom line is that there are no virgins out there because we are all guilty of doing it. -
Good choice,Cliff490.I'm not going to make disparaging remarks about the Manticore because I do not own one and most likely never will? I too canceled my no pay ahead pre order and decided to put the dough towards the Garrett Axiom because I have enough VLF'S.If you are a relic hunter you're going to love the D2.Also great purchase on the 280 pack as well and money well spent.
-
Copy that I canceled mine a while back...Sticking with my NOX 800 and both Deus units.

Get in touch with your guy if you want one.
-
And speaking of videos Brass Medic just posted one about the Manticore is now being shopped to all dealers in case you are still waiting.
-
I watched the video the other day and I thought to myself that he was just trying to stir up the doo doo a little? If that was indeed his intention even to a small degree then mission accomplished.

I had too stop yelling and cussing at the tv some years ago...My girlfriend and the cat thought that I was crazy! Which I am most of the time I suppose? Doc 5150 -
One never gets jaded from digging those killer railroad locks with their amazing patinas.I have had the good fortune through the decades to find my share from the North Western Pacific and Southern Pacific lines and they never disappoint thanks for sharing those.
-
From one big iron hunter/digger to another that's a very impressive collection of locks!
-
I picked up a pair of real nice ones @monicalewinsky.com The slick willie model.
-
Nice relics, You're smart to dig those iron targets.
-
Keep at it PI-Man they are still out there and yet to be discovered. Many are still left to be washed ashore or exposed in the surf that you are fortunate enough to hunt. And no doubt there are even others also to be found on the higher ground at the Seminole Indian sites etcetera. At this point you are probably thinking tell me something that I don't already know lol!
