There has been an ongoing discussion over in the Deus 11 forum titled {How long are we going to wait?} It appears that the French don't like to rush things?

I made a comment on this forum some months ago, that I did not get all that excited about seeing the nuggets. It just goes to show that there are always exceptions WOW!!!

Carolina,
1. How did you coil that cable? THAT is really what is needed, to do a GOOD "inside the shaft" wire run...
2. You are right; a hole in the mount is the best option. HOWEVER, after much work/effort, I could not locate a hole on the RC mount that would allow the wire -- WITH that plastic connector -- to exit through the hole. The lack of flexibility of the connector, the size of it, etc., simply thwarted any attempt I made to find a place that I could include a hole on the mount (with respect to the way that the mount is designed, internally). HOWEVER -- it would be EASY to locate a hole on the mount, if all that was needed was to pass the thin wire ITSELF through (i.e. without connector). SO -- if anyone wishes to modify their antenna wire (remove the plastic connector/clip, at least temporarily), then routing the antenna wire through the mount itself becomes trivial/easy to do. And YES -- just as you noted, for the reasons you noted (shaft collapsibility), that is absolutely the preferred solution (but which, again, the connector/clip prevented me from achieving).

Sorry for the delayed reply; all day detecting trip yesterday, so a bit behind and trying to catch up!
I haven't put them on the "Products" portion of the website yet, as I'm trying to get all of the customers who are on my wait list outfitted, first. I have so many orders to fill, that I'm trying not to overwhelm myself with ADDITIONAL customers yet, LOL! When they DO go on the website, they will be at a higher price than the special "introductory" price I'm selling them to wait-list customers for. So, if you think you may want one, I'll add you to the wait list.
As for availability, parts are in production right now, for me to begin building the second batch of shafts, but it appears that there may be a couple weeks' delay for me to receive these parts. So, it looks like it may be the first week in February before the parts are shipped, and then mid February before I am building/shipping shafts...
Meanwhile, if you are wanting some detailed info on the shaft itself, I DO have a couple of my most recent "blog" posts up on the website; you'll find those posts under the "What's New" tab (www.stevesdetectorrods.com/blog/index.php).
Thanks!
SteveHello Steve.I may have overlooked it but are there any future plans for a camouflage version becoming available? Thanks in advance.

FWIW - that's exactly why I DID go to the D2 > Settings are now more logically laid out and accessible than the D1 (I know, Steve H., that's a low bar
) with very useful single key long press shortcuts for noise cancel and ground graband the default program settings need LESS tweaking out of the box for turn on and go detecting AFAIC. Plus my fingertips don't feel like I am be tortured by those crazy recessed buttons on the D1 remote. Honestly, I would have upgraded to D2 purely for the operating improvements alone (improved remote ergonomics, menus, etc., synced power on/off of the remote and paired headphones). The FMF performance almost seems like a bonus. The only thing I lament is still being married to old school USB mini ports and plugs and the frustratingly fragile coil charge clips...and no 10x5 coil...
Exactly why I have still hung on to the D1, but if XP does see fit to release a compatible 10x5 for the D2, bye bye D1. Right now though, I find myself using the Nox more than the D1 when a 10x5 is called for.
I too have the mighty Nox with the 10x5 but the thing is I never really clicked with it. I never liked the tones for some reason? Maybe that's because since I was just a young buck only 20 years old I've had a special yen for Edith Bunker and her voice of an Angel.

Remember I posted, that I like simple detectors? Your comments are exactly why I still use the D1, and have not bought a D2. I want to detect, not program.
Don't feel like the Lone Ranger deathray. I have both machines and still use the D1 a lot of the time.Personally i cannot seem to break away from using the two white H F coils in their upper KHz ranges.Single frequencies still have their place in the type of sites that I like to hunt at least.Love that elliptical in the rock piles and star thistles and so forth.

Absolutely, XP did botch one of the earlier updates with a loss of SW configuration/version control. Lives were not on the line like with safety critcal sofware (think Boeing 737 Max), but that is still a big no no. They had about 3 different versions of 0.6 in the wild with different features and bugs, were not updating the minor ver # on each release (i.e., 0.6 > 0.61 > 0.62) so they all had the same version numbers but different "born on" dates (the only way you could tell the difference but you had to take a deep dive into the "about the SW" menus on the remote to tell the difference). In the process they broke something important from a performance standpoint (I think there was a depth hit on certain modes or something) and there was no way to roll back. I had unwittingly updated to get one of the desired features, thinking I would be able to roll back if necessary and got screwed just before a week-long digging trip. Borrowed someone else's D2 for the trip while XP was sorting it out. I think they "re-learned" this lesson from some Deus 1 false starts, addressed the causes, and are proceeding cautiously as a result.
Point being, that this upcoming release will likely be a "final" production release (i.e., non-Beta ver 1.X), will likely have several new (though likely minor) enhancements and bug fixes and I really want them to do thorough regression testing to make sure they don't break stuff that is presently working well.
Gary Black popped on this thread earlier and basically confirmed it's coming but obviously could not give us a precise release window because testing always comes with uncertainty as bugs are uncovered, addressed and re-tested. It's an arduous, iterative and often painful process that is not appreciated by those who have not experienced it.
Would like to have it sooner rather than later myself, but definitely not before it's fully baked.
In the mean time, it's not holding me back in the least...
Good information Chase. I bought my D1 after the completed final version, and I still use it on occasion with the two H F coils, and would. never part with it.

I’m in no hurry for an update. Version .0.71 works pretty darn good from my perspective as far as raw performance is concerned. Plus ( like you said), I’d rather have a bug free update than to have to keep updating to fix the update. I would much rather spend my free time detecting than updating. Lol
Oh my,Mister Toad! So are you suggesting ,that maybe we should all be careful what we wish for?

I have written them 3 times regarding specific issues. I got one very ambiguous response nearly 14 days after my email. The other two times there was no response. I don't think metal detector companies really care that much about the issues of the end user and I'm not saying that as a criticism but a reality. For most the reality is they release a new detector once every 2-4 years specific to an all around unit like the D2 (which was way longer than 2-4 years) and then after the initial sale the income from that buyer stops. Those of us that buy multiple coils, brand specific pinpointers etc., are the few I think. They don't invest in customer service because there is no immediate return on that investment.
No matter how mad you got at XP for their tone deaf customer service they know that all they need to do is come out with a new launch video in 3 years for the D37.9 and most of us will all line up to buy it regardless of any past experiences.
It's no different with Minelab, Garret or any other brand. These companies sell dreams, not reality.
Dang, that's encouraging! 😩

You, got that right! It seems that XP doesn't give a rats Arse about customer service, and moving forward with the D2 in terms of updates and accessories.

And PS don't pay too much attention to the detector wars that has started up as a result of your post.

Thanks, I sent them an email and got a response back already. They are making a non-headphones version of that new Uniprobe for sale in April/May, like it'll clip onto a GPZ harness. I don't use headphone while prospecting so that's cool.
I'm definitely going to try one of those out, I could really use a more powerful pinpointer for using 17"+ coils and places where I have to chisel like 4" into granite bedrock cracks to get nuggets.
Thanks you encouraged me to send them an email enquiring about any future plans that they might have to incorporate the Uniprobe into their Rattler mono headphone. They quickly responded and it also is under development and will be available in the spring.I am one peculiar people that has been discussed on this forum that was not born with eyes in the back of my head and do not like to spend all of my time looking over my shoulder when out in the roughs.

Thanks I was curious what that pinpointer thing was, never seen one before. Looks like it's a PI probe?
I see it's attached to headphones in the ones for sale. Do they make one that is a self contained hand held unit? Almost tempted to buy one if so to use with the really big coils when prospecting.
Hey jasong DetectorPro does make a land and sea PI traditional style pin pointer but no self contained probe only the wired into Headphones model. If one does not mind being tethered to their detector it seem to be a pretty sweet setup and they claim that it works with most detector models i hope that answers your question.

That is not a primer it is a Detonator. It would be very unwise to mess with it. The shell really needs to be disposed of or at least re buried deep with a bunch of tin cans on top.
I took great care of that no one will ever find it and if a fire comes through I put it in a place where it won't detonate

That is an artillery shell and they have an Explosive charge with a detonator. That has very real potential of danger, Common small arms ammunition is not explosive. It uses propellant, not "gun powder" Now Black Powder, as used for older arms is explosive if dry enough, even after many cycles of getting wet.
Thanks JCR judging by the rifling marks it has been fired but did not explode.I think that It may be an anti tank round circa WW2? Thought about going back and removing the primer but decided to leave it the ef alone.
