I turned the coil around and shortened it up as close to my feet as I can get and I use a loose grip mostly holding it with my fingers. It helps balance better for me.

There are landscape companies contracted to clean up the parks and they come the next morning and remove all the trash...except the bottle caps..those stay on the ground...as far as the trees go that park never had those small trees there...and I'm thinking maybe they were put there for the party to hang bling on...I don't know but what ever happened  it really disgusted me. Thats the oldest park in Antioch. The same thing happens on the beaches.

What a selfish and disgusting display of humanity. By coincidence I had the same encounter with possibly the same Helicopter two months ago while detecting in Mendocino county.I suspected it was either Google Earth or drought and water related. Also way off topic but next Friday and Saturday is the Golden Gate Historical Bottle Societies 54th annual bottle and collectibles show at the Contra Costa Fairgrounds  in Sunset Hall.

Just my odd sarcasm is all (not telling whr I may be bush hunting in the south)! Yeah east coast had many cw soldiers, vets I think yanks had 9 million men could be wrong maybe 7. Many more than rebs, all that I mean is I know people find stuff up north but Montana its probly slim if not slim it's possible unicorn hunting!

I've had the pleasure of digging 50-60 of what I thought were mostly .58 cal minie balls. Turns out if you measure, weight them I have 7,8 different varieties of .54/.58/.69/.71 and pistol examples too. Pretty neat once I realized this (not so long ago) and i think these are possibly. 54 cal but very well could be .58 cal union for all i know atm.

When I was your age young feller I did most of my bush hunting at the local saloons and dance halls.

This may have been covered before but does anyone have any insight on what other coil options are planned for the D2? I'd like more coverage for the beach but would rather have something larger than the 11 to go with my 9".  I'm finally retiring in June so I need to start saving now for upcoming expenses.

    Thanks!

I believe that there is a 13 x 11 in the works which should be a available in the not to distant future.

  5. Great writing, story telling, and childhood experience and thanks for sharing.Back in 1977 my lifelong digging partner and I were detecting a small Churchyard in Ukiah California and I got a right on the surface signal with my trusty old whites coin master which turned out to be a 1909 S VDB.We both came to the conclusion that another digger had most likely hit a spill and missed it all together or had lost it once again.

  6. Returned home from a dig this afternoon and had an e.mail from my dealer regarding Deus 11 in stock that he had sent two hours earlier.Anyway I called him and was able to purchase the last one that he had with the nine.I'm glad that I did not stop for a cold one!

I don't claim to be an expert, but based upon some research I had done previously regarding the firing pin strike pattens and a couple quick google searches, he likely has Winchester ammunition - all be it period - as Winchester has used the H headstamp.   All kinds of online references to Mr. Henry and Winchester and how that came to pass in the mid 1860's.

I have also been curious as I dig up many different calibers with the same H stamp in old west locations, and i have also seen many with the single pin strike and many with the double strike.  Again, not having owned an old Henry's repeater, my understanding is that they have the double tap when fired from a Henry's rifle.  Other rifle/pistol brands like Winchester are probably responsible for this example.

I've picked up several .56 or .58 caliber rimfires in the desert, and boy do they look intimidating when sitting next to a .44.  The ballistics on those must have been entertaining out past 100 yards...but god help you if you caught one at close range.

Super job on the seated!  Can't beat that with a stick!

    Best,

    Zincoln
