  1. Thanks 350! So just to clarify I was not trying to be condescending to our fellow member. However i was looking for a response and translation from the poster or one of our more savvy members. So thanks and mission accomplished.
  2. Wise decision all around and a good purchase.Judging bye the types of sites that you hunt, the D2 with the nine will not disappoint, IMHO.
  3. I just re-read your post. Whoops my mistake and good luck.
  4. Take a look at XP the 240 might work but I would recommend the 280. Even though it is more pricey and a little heavier it is worth it in my opinion for the additional space and durability.Off hand without looking the inside dimensions sound correct.
  5. Depends on a few diffirent factors. The weather is the main thing when I gets up over 105 degrees and there is not a whole lot of shaded areas to hunt then that gets a little rough.Same goes if it is cold and raining like a heffer pissin on a flat rock for hours at a time.Another thing is how motivated I am by the quality of finds I'm digging. One thing for certain is that I've learned the hard way to force myself to quit when I have reached the point of exhaustion. Because my digging becomes dangerously careless and we all know what can happen then.
  6. Because Jerry we need to leave those Historically significant items for the up and coming stuffy and overly zealous pompous Richards that they are Archeologist of the future. As well as for others to enjoy of course.
  7. Howdy back from Hooterville over in Mendocino County, and welcome to the forum! Always looking forward to hearing tales and seeing finds from the gold country.
  8. I'd be willing to bet that you will find one soon enough. It's been my experience that the Barber halfs are tougher to come by?
  9. Congrats on the rare and exceptional merchants token.
  10. Finally somebody has the smarts to bring along a jug of snakebite medicine!
  11. Obviously Sir you have never tried jerked Joey it's oh so tender and tasty.Roasted Dingo and frilled-neck lizards ain't bad gnawin either.
  12. During the winter months I make steelhead jerky in my smokehouse. And during the summer and fall months I do the same with ocean and river caught chinook salmon. Not politically correct to say but it's an old-time recipe called squaw candy.Other than that smoked oysters and sardines.
  13. I'd much rather pinpoint than pontificate.I'm not certain if it qualifies as such.... But nice prose mr.rose!
  14. Very nice coins, one thing that you can bank on is that the California Mother Lode will never be played out.
  15. Those are the types of targets and finds that make a relic hunter as well as an early coin and token hunters mind run wild. The very kind that keep us motivated and chugging along and working to the point of exhaustion.Keep at it Cpt! Oh and I really like the piece with the diamond pattern.
  16. Thats cool George. And i have watched enough of his vids to know that he is a top hand with any detector that he happens to be using on any given day.
  17. No worries Rios Rato from the UK.Anyway yes I have them and use them often and i like them. They work very well for being able to hear what is happening around you and help with my diminished hearing. You have to be careful with them though in relic sites with a lot of big iron. They will rattle ones brain and mine has already been rattled plumb to death.
  18. Hello fellow members. I have been looking at these for awhile now and was curious if anyone out there has tried them? Personally I am waiting for their Rattler version because I prefer situational awareness that is scheduled for release this spring to use with my Deus 1 and 2 and possibly a second pair for the NOX 800.
  19. You are on the right track....When you get the 240 measure the specific inside dimensions of it and I am pretty sure that Steve can custom build a shaft that will fit it.The Legend looks to be a good choice as well.
  20. Please excuse my candor because I'm not one to mince words but to be frank that really sucks One would think that M L would show a little class and at least offer you the option of sending the 800 back with its original coil, shaft and headphones and allow you the option of putting the $349 pod replacement charge towards a new 700 or 900 but maybe that's a stretch? I would suggest that you get yourself an XP backpack but unfortunately the NOX will not fit into it at least mine will not with the Detect-Ed CF shaft.Furthermore if you ever have the opportunity I would also suggest moving away from M L and get yourself a D2. XP in my opinion has superior build quality and probably better customer service end of rant.
  21. Very nice finds there 350! Coming from the perspective of a longtime relic and artifact hunter as well as a collector I feel that the partial copper is definitely the star of the show.I would also have to concur that your deduction about its purpose is spot on.There is probably not a whole lot of us out here including myself that would have come to that conclusion so quickly so good call.
