  1. Very interesting. This morning have been on mineralized soil and D2 has been nice, catching deep little targets. Used mainly prog.2 with some changes, but I like prog. 4 as well. I don’t think D1 would have hit them...but before certainty I have to compare D1 and D2 like Paystreak...like him but I’d like to test machines on smaller targets to exalt high frequencies..

As I watched him find deep copper pennies, I was wondering how mineralized his soil is.  Those sure were loud-and-clear signals (with steady dTID's) on the two pennies (I think one was 9 inches and the other 10 inches deep, or there about).

I like the Eqx Gold Mode for park detecting but so far only for investigating weak Park 1 hits.  Having a mode with lower frequencies, as on the Deus 2, could up the value even more.

IMO, this kind of live video tells me more about how a detector will perform (obviously in the ground & trash conditions present) than other types of videos.  Admittedly that field seemed to have particularly low trash (and low mineralization?), which is ideal, of course.

I'd much rather see a few recoveries without edits, as this video shows -- i.e. the sounds, the screen, the digging, the final recovery plus seeing him skip over targets he decides are trash, while telling you why he's doing so.  Real detecting -- the good, the bad, and the ugly!

His soils are mild. Don’t remember where I read this but he wrote that soils in UK, generally, are not mineralized. And UK people are lucky for this...if this is the truth.

  3. Thank you guys for your comments. Yes, I’m sure that Deus1 too would catch that target at that depth in goldfield prog. I’ll cut that piece of foil and try again with the test. I’ll try in Relic prog. as well. And I want to test better disc iar: in that test was 3, with 5 was beginning to discriminate the foil. I have to do other tests. But I’m happy for the result because this program would be a valid alternative to pulse inductions. I’m talking about relic hunting..

  4. Hi all, just come back from testing Deus 2. Little test in Goldfield program which I’d like to use for relic hunting, little targets on high mineralized fields. I did a little thin foil target and put in the bottom of a 6” hole. Nice result and next time I’ll dig a 8/10 hole with the same target in the bottom of the hole. Soil is very hot, looking the bar. Disc IAR was 3 and in this way I can discriminate iron. Little pieces of iron are a problem but it’s a program I will 100% use again in very difficult areas like these.

  5. Did a quick test with a little piece of aluminum and my hematite stone. Nice result. In single frequencies Deus can not catch the target. Prog. 2 is the best. Couldn’t test Goldfield prog. because I couldn’t ground balance. But I’ll try again in the near future. Yes, it’s only an air test in my bedroom but it has been the best thing has happened to me during this bad tuesday! By the way that little piece is about 53-55 talking about vdi.

  6. Thank you very much El Nino. Based on my personal experience, Deus (1) is the most productive machine I’ve ever used but on hot soils has always suffered. V6 and Relic Striker have been the most powerful detectors on my red dirt. V6 reaches almost the same depth of ATX, talking about the 50 euro cent coin. Big problems arise with little and low conductive targets. So have to test D2 but I’m not so optimistic..

I'd try to use a pitch mode instead.

And recently, as I've seen on the skill school on the official XP Channel, in really hot soils the use of gold mode can also give You a chance.

Yes, you’re right. This morning used  pitch as well and was deep or anyway it seemed more confortable. Next week I’ll come back on the low mineralized field for an extreme depth test and I’d like also to test machine in recovery and iron masking..

  8. Hi all,

this morning I was on a mineralized field: the mineralization bar was full pumping the coil. I tried with prog. 1 and 2. Last week I tested Deus 2 in an area near this one but the result has not been good. Anyway I try with prog. 3 as well. Machine was ground balanced and frequencies were clean after the scan. First 5 minutes are in my little english then in Italian. The signal is almost weak but is present.

    Welcome aboard Riccardo !

You picked a good time to sign in with your new Deus2 !        Lots of us here will be waiting to read everything you post about it , no doubt.  You probably have a few good GPX5000 hunts to brag about too !

I have 3 questions for you.

Are old coins on the do not dig list too? 🧐

Any good tourist beaches nearby ?

Do you have a pirate map with an X marking anyplace in particular you'd share with us???? Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr  😉

First of all thank you for your welcome!

Talking about metal detecting here, law is a really big nightmare. In theory, targets which have more than 50 years are state property. Whatever you find underground is state property. This is the law here. Many times I asked myself how is possible to buy a metal detector here. In theory, when you find something you have 24 hours to deliver the object to the police. I’m not joking, it is crazy but this is. Obviously there are tons of target older than 50 years which have  no historical importance. But there are many archeological areas from which you must stay away, we have to pay attention. But we’re in Italy and you can find everything everywhere. Years ago I found a medieval knife: I went to the Police and delivered it...but I didn’t know anything more. Probably that ancient knife didn’t have historical importance.. Don’t know. There are many contradictions in metal detecting law here. A lot of contradictions. You can find tons of Vittorio Emanuele II coins, which are from second part of 1800. If I find them I prefer to leave them underground! I live 100 km away from the sea...with a CTX I spent a whole winter on the beach and in water as well..

  10. There is a large area with red soil here in Tuscany, central Italy. Area where we have an intense mineralization, red dirt. Years ago I took this stone which I use to make some quick test at home. Hematite is an iron ore and that’s why I need pulse inductions too..

  11. You did well! I always watch detector tests videos from USA on the tube  and noticed that nickle is a very used coin in depth test but also in iron masking ones. I’d like to arrange a Monte’s nail board and think i’ll use a 20 cent coin. I’ll keep you updated..

    Riccardo,

Welcome to the forum and we enjoy reading of finds from around the world as long as we see some beautiful scenery with the finds.

I am glad to see you on the forum and can't wait to read some of your post's from your hunts. Italy is a grand location with a lot of history.

    Good luck and happy hunting.

    Thanks a lot!

Just for US/Canadian reference, the coin being used is a 50 cent Euro coin which is roughly the size of a Canadian Looney or a US Sacagewea $1 coin and weighs similarly.....7.8 grams, or a very big coin.

Yes, you’re right. This morning I checked online size of a nickle which is 21,21mm (diameter) and 1,95 (thickness) while 50 euro cent coin is 24,25mm in diameter and 2,38 in thickness.  Material of these coins is “nordic gold”, a type of brass. I always use that coin in tests like this but it maybe would be better with a 20 cent coin because it’s much similar to a nickle, talking about dimension..

  14. Translated online! 😄

In other european countries people bought D2 about 1 month ago. In Italy great majority of the french detector was delivered on 11-12 of January. Deus2 is my birthday and Christmas present. I’ll be happy to share with you..
