  1. Ready for the beach! Thanks Steve and Ryan !
  2. Lookin sweet! I love my 13x11 on the beach especially.
  3. Tons of great advice in this thread! F350Platinum really nailed it. On my beaches here in North Carolina ( which are really sanded in right now ) if I start hearing iron signals I really need to slow down and listen closely. Heavier target will tend to stay together on my beaches.
  4. I'm running Grey Ghost Amphibian IIs right now and I like them. I have a pair of Tony Eisenhower headphones on my Excal and I love them as well. I agree with ColonelDan on the sound quality and build quality on the Eisenhower headphones.
  5. I bought the 11" originally, and just purchased the 11 x 13". If I had it to do over, I would have bought the 9" and then the 11 x13". A little weight difference between the 11" and the 11 x 13", but not enough to matter to me. I'm usually hunting the beach, and like the extra coverage. I think you're leaning th right way.
  6. Spot on review. Steve is a straight up guy!
  7. I made up a full length waveguide out of the RG179 I had left over for deeper wading. Made it just the length I needed and it fits under my cover. Also used the original waveguide control clip. Only took about 15 minutes. I figure I can make a few more out of my original waveguide cable after I cut out the discolored ends. That would keep you from having to stuff the extra cable in the shaft.
  8. That will work as well. I liked the split tubing, because it is split on the entire length and made it much easier to put on and remove without removing the lower shaft and to get the wire under it. Seems to stay on very well. Has very good memory. I may make a longer antenna as well and I can then use two pieces, one on the upper and one on the lower.
  9. It is split loom tubing that I used to protect some fiber audio cables behind an audio console. Here is the link of the product that I used. Thanks for the reply: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FW672R7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 Now I see that that they have colors to match the Deus! 😂 Just cut to length and melt edge with a torch or lighter.
  10. Sent you a PM with the link. Will post the link in this thread if Amazon links are allowed.
  11. No wise cracks about the paracord colors matching the Deus logo colors! My wife says I can get medicine for that!!😂
  12. Got to my Deus II this morning. Here is the one I made with paracord. Gotta love paracord! I've got the Doodads clip, but use a lanyard as well. Made a loop that included the d-ring portion of the USB lanyard and a piece of heat shrink, stiched on the wife's sewing machine without her knowing it! Sealed heat shrink. Added a push button that I saved off of an old jacket. Looped over controller and around stem. Tightened up loop with push button.
  13. Going to give parkgt's idea a shot on my new 11" x 13" coil. I bought some RG179 removed the shield and double covered with marine heat shrink. Attached to the coil with velcro wire ties so I can easily remove the coil cover. Can still attach the charging clip without removing the antenna. Ran up the outside of a Nokta Legend carbon fiber shaft and hold the cable in place with a section of nylon split braided sleeving that I had left over from an audio job. Thanks again to parkgt for this great idea! Have not tested it yet, but hope to in the next few days.
  14. I broke the lanyard that came with my Deus II originally, and made one from a USB stick lanyard ( picked up on ebay ) and some paracord attached to the shaft. Don't have my Deus handy to take a picture.
  15. Does the signal travel on the center conductor or the shield, or both? Just curious if you removed the shield on both ends under the heat shrink. Super great idea!
  16. Took the new 11" coil for a spin on the beach yesterday. Hunted about 5 hours and had plenty of battery left on the coil. The small ring and one of the earrings were marked 925. Also set a new record for my largest fish hook to date!
  17. Got a shipping confirmation yesterday that a new 11" coil was shipped and replaced under warranty. That's one week turnaround. I am more than happy with that!
  18. I've been using basstrackerman's solution since I got my carbon lower. It worked like a champ and was easy to assemble and source the parts.
  19. Sent the coil to DETECTOR ELECTRONICS CORP. They received it on Monday 10/17, as I was told it may take a week for them to get to it. No update at this point. The coil finally got to where it would not charge at all before I sent it in. Thus far, the return process has gone pretty smoothly, and I have full confidence that they will resolve it. Will update this post when they get it resolved. I'm hunting primarily in salt water, but have been meticulous about cleaning the machine after each use. I did notice a small area that looked pitted on one of the charging contacts before I sent it in. I'm using my Nox 600 right now, but do miss the Deus II.
  20. NCtoad was correct, they were turned on a small lathe that I use for making pens and other small projects. Had to sand down the Legend shaft to match the thickness of the original Deus lower.
  21. Made some bushings out of 3/4" delrin rod to use on a Nokta Legend carbon fiber lower to use on my Deus II until I can save up for one of steveg's new shafts. Coil is being repaired so I couldn't show it installed.
  22. Thanks guys, I'll call Monday and see about having it serviced.
  23. I'm running my Deus 2 w/11" coil using a program built off of the Beach Sensitive base program. I am also running the antenna, and Grey Ghost wired headphones. I ran this morning for about 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Wanted to go for a quick spin this afternoon, and the coil is dead. I feel like the coil battery life is not as good as when I first got the machine. Does this sound normal, or am I expecting too much out of the coil? Thanks for the input.
  24. Thanks RV, Your statement was a little better put than mine. I think you are spot on that they can hear the latency but don't realize what they are hearing. I think that latency drops to about 40ms when AptX-LL is applied. The "Critical Listening" topic would be a good thread to start. Don't wont to hijack F350's thread. I understand it well from a musical point of view, but am still learning how to apply it to detecting. Like how you hear the latency on a single tone. Makes sense on multiple tones in the same swing, but not as much so on a single tone. Nothing to compare it to, like a bass guitar and snare drum hitting in reference to each other. Choosing the right tone frequencies ( if the detector permits it ) would be super critical, based on each individuals hearing.
