First post. Read posts regularly and thought at least sign-up to give a thumbs up once in a while and hope to get out there again when life gives me break before I break. Got a GEB5000 somewhere in a box. An exciting purchase by my dad many years ago. Not much usage, a couple of amateurish adventures to Kalgoorlie and around some old sites outside Perth. Memories better than the finds. First detector was actually one my dad made from an old electronics magazine back in the 70s. Looked better than performed. Shaft fashioned out of a broomstick with a "folded" aluminum control box (including fly-screen speaker cover) and a wooden cross frame for the coils exposed windings. Painted in bright yellow. Think may have control-box somewhere. If I find I will post a pic. Appreciate the forum and it's sociable members. Thanks.
