  1. Yes, at least something is compatible..😎
  2. I couldn't! They said it was already shipped and in transit. But the funny thing is the confirmation email just "happened" to hit my inbox while I was on the phone cancelling.🤔
  3. Ok, here's an interesting story. I ordered and received a Nox 900 last week and have been putting it through its paces. It is a great machine, no major learning curve if you are familiar with the 6-800's. And I have all the coils I need, perfect. So, I'm coming back and thinking about the wait and lack of response Minelab has put me and many others through on the Manticore release debacle. I decided to hell with it, I am cancelling my Manticore order this afternoon. I called Serious Detecting, actually I just got off the phone with them. I proceeded to start the cancelling of my order. BTW, the folks there are very nice. Anyway, I give her my order number and it takes a while to look it up because ... It was ordered ( and PAID for) last August. Here's the interesting part. I was assured the shipment was "in transit" even though I was sitting here looking at my inbox that didn't show any emails confirming it. And Lo and behold while I was on the phone cancelling the order the order fulfillment and UPS tracking details magically appeared in my email. My shipment shows the beginning of its journey started with UPS January 6th. and here it is the 9th. Interesting, eh?
  4. Good advice, Thank You. I spent 5 hours with the 900 yesterday. No earth shattering finds but that's just the way dirt fishing is. I really like what they have done with the 900.They really have tweaked and tuned it to a better machine. Especially for us that have used the 800s for the past several years. It's like stepping into a favorite car that has just had its engine tuned and balanced. I'll be using the 900 for the next week as much as possible praying for my Manticore to arrive. I don't know, maybe by the end of the week I'll still cancel the order and work on getting to know the 900 better. I am still working on wireless earbud options. With the new 5.3 BT technology they have built into both the Manti and 900 it's a search for options. At least I have some ground that is not frozen here in Oregon for now...
  5. The 900 came in the mail yesterday and I'm taking her for a spin today. Been patiently waiting on Manticore since August 31. After charging and going through all my gear I spent a few hours perusing information on the Deus2. While I am not totally enamored with trying to teach this old dog some new tricks (learning another detecting system) I am fed up with a company that does not communicate and sends machines to box stores and folks like Calabash who spew videos that stir the pot. I have watched one of his and "shows" and a few others that did have some good information but personally I'll figure out how a new machine works for me. I do appreciate and use sites like this one that provide good info on topics with links to further their point without grandiose posing. I'll wait one more week on the Manticore and then I'll get the Deus2. Not that Minelab gives a rosy, red rats behind, but I'll feel better and when they start losing hundreds of us, they will take notice. Rant off... 😌
  6. Yep, cutting edge engineering and old school marketing is exactly right. I am working on maintenance of my detectors waiting for my Manticore who knows when and getting delivery of a 900 this afternoon. I have a Telenox MK1 3 piece carbon fiber system on my original 800. It's beginning to wear some so I wrote an email to Tony the inventor of the system. Within 12 hours I had a response with several options for correcting the issues. The response was from the owner himself. Now I understand that Minelab is a giant company but all they'd have to do is have a couple of folks in their organization running some damage control and just keeping their customers and sales in the loop. Obviously this is not going to happen. Watch out Minelab, people will remember this fiasco and when something better comes along this treatment of customers will bite you in the butt.
  7. Well, I am in a bit of a different place. I ordered and paid for the Manticore last year at the end of August. It is still in the queue and I am also praying for delivery by the end of the month, but who the hell knows... Minelab is not winning me over with the lack of communication. Seems to me they could at least keep their customers informed. It's odd the total silence. I stewed for a while when the upgraded Nox's were announced last month but since both my 800s were several years old and the 900 is totally compatible with all my extra coils it made sense to me to upgrade. So now I'll have a 900 with all the coils for backup and on day who knows when one of the elusive Manticores. Like I said in an earlier post I probably need the 12 step program for detector addict's.
  8. So tempting... Spent 6 hours in a heavily worked site yesterday... chipping away on the frozen ground for several targets. Nothing to show except getting my detecting fix relieved. Some days your the windshield and some days your the 🪲. I am tired of waiting for my Manticore so I sold a couple of older machines from the stable and ordered a 900. It arrives tomorrow. Yeah... I probably need the 12 step program for detector addict's 🤔. Keep your finds coming...they keep moral up!
  9. Thanks for the writeup. I have 2 Nox 800s, one I sold a few months back to help finance the elusive Manticore. I was going to use the sales proceeds to get the Manticore extra coils but got tired of waiting so I pulled the trigger on a 900 yesterday. My dealer gave me a good price, $999 with the extra 6" coil package. I have all the extra Nox coils, so I figured what the heck...no more accessories to get. My finds with the Equinox 800 over the past 2 1/2 years have been nothing short of incredible so having the improved Nox hopefully be a win win. So, now I'll get comfy with the 900 while waiting for the Manticore and when the 5x8 and 12x15 coils finally come out I'll sell my original fully upgraded Nox 800 and its now extra 6" coil for the Manti coils. I'll let folks know what I come up with on the 800-900 upgrade.🤙
  10. Those are some very interesting finds. How old do you think that ring is? I My detecting buddy found a gold band last summer on the California trail. It was not marked, and my jeweler buddy said they didn't stamp the content purity before 1854. Florida sure looks appealing compared to our freezing world... Here is a find from last year...it doesn't get much better than this in my neck of the woods.
  11. I guess it looks bigger in the photo. It fits my ring finger and I'm average stature. There were 75-100,000 troops here in the desert playing war games in 1943. They were prepping to fight Rommel in North Africa, but the allied forces defeated him right before they finished training. There was still plenty of fighting for them to do. I've been following the paths of their maneuver areas for the past 40 years. And doing quite well.😉
  12. I just finished this thread. Thanks to all ...very informative. I prepaid for my Manticore August 30th through Serious Detecting here in the USA. When the "great News Release Date" early December unveiled the new Nox 700-900s I called Serious Detecting to try to get some answers. I was told that the delay was in customs. I was also informed I was 5th in line of prepaid customers. That was several weeks ago. So, like many of you I sit here stewing and wondering. On a lighter note, we had a break in the winter weather here in Oregon and the ground unthawed enough to get out a couple of times this week. I saddled up the old nag (my Nox800 😎) And took her for a spin in a heavily worked WW2 site. The first image is the ring I dug yesterday. The second image is a shot of the new ring with his buddies found in other military sites in the area. I am looking forward to seeing what the Manticore can do above my trusty old Nox 800.
  13. Ghost Miner, I have been reading your wonderful story for a while now. I thank you for posting one of the best stories I have read on the internet. I am glad to see you will continue to post and cannot wait for the next segment. You would always be more than welcome on my mining claim here in Oregon. Good company, mining stories whiskey and or coffee! Take Care and don't let the assholes win...
